extracting text contained in brackets ("[ ... ]") from a character string?
I have a text string that contains text within two brackets.
e.g. "testdata[3]" "testdata[-4]", "testdata[-4g]",
I wish to "extract" the string enclosed in brackets?
What is a good way to do this?
e.g.
fun(testdata[3]) = '3'
fun(testdata[-4g]) = '-4g'

Cyberpower 1500AVR
All,
I just had a power failure that caused me a little drama. This
spurred me into trying to get NUT up on my cyberpower 1500 again. For
about 6 months I tried to get it to work with the new power panel drive
with no luck. Today I removed all the old files for NUT and installed
the newest version I could find (2.4.3) and it works perfectly now with
my UPS.
Hopefully now I

Samba installation discrepancies
Samba colleagues,
I promise to limit my postings to this list to one message per day from now
on, and to keep my messages focussed on very specific technical issues. I
think I have gotten over my initial panic at the weirdly broken Samba
installation and am now in a troubleshooting mode.
The drama of all my Samba 3 difficulties now seems to be due to a faulty
Samba installation. Symptoms

outbound caller ID
Hi,
I would like to know if one can set the outgoing
caller ID within Asterisk when calls are going out
through:
1) an analog POTS line (I suppose not)
2) a telco BRI line (I don't think so)
3) a telco PRI line (maybe)
4) a voip provider (surely)
Thanks,
Vieri

In the ongoing drama surrounding this upgrade, I have encountered
another issue that I am unable to currently resolve.

Check 'dmesg' for more information on this error.

Compare String Similarity
Dear All,
I need to estimate the level of similarity of two strings. For example:
string1 <- c("depending","audience","research", "school");
string2 <- c("audience","push","drama","button","depending");
The words in string may occur in different order though. What function would you recommend to use

Vector Join
Hi,
I'm working on producing a simple cumulative frequency

Thanks to the help of the good people on this list I
now have four vectors that I'd like to join/relate

v2 <- myHistogram$counts # freqs

Pluralization of non-noun names
People,
I have an insurance company client and for the last eleven years I have
wanted to completely redevelop their system from scratch. However, the
boss has never been interested in hiring a team to develop the new
system (partly because of the cost and partly because of some famous and
expensive development failures in the industry) and has always insisted
on incremental development of the

Error handling
Hello,
I have a question about error handling. I run simulation studies and often the program stops with an error, for example during maximum likelihood. I would like the program not to stop but to continue and I would like to ask how the error handling can be set up for this (if it can). I tried to look through manuals etc but unfortunately did not get closer to the solution. Below is a

speex payload value
hmm...forgive my ignorance here. icould have explained it wrong.
the rtp header has the pt (payload) field as a 7 bit value. i was under the
impression speex had a particular value i should set it to. is this so? if
no what value should i assign it, whether by convention or otherwise?
Note that i'm implementing a simple rtp header and combining it with the
speex payload i'm not using

[LLVM/Clang v3.8.1] Missing Git branches/tags and source-tarballs?
Hi Tom, Hi Anton,
the first I had in mind was...
"Another (LLVM/CLang) realease - a new drama!"
( See Byron Katie "The work". )
I know SVN is your 1st development platform.
Personally, I prefer Git and use the LLVM/Clang mirrors on GitHub.
Unfortunately, I am missing a "release_381" branch at all on the
GitHub repositories.
I looked through the llvm-commits [1]
