What's the problem with the CVS repository?
Hi, at least for three days now I can't update my sources from CVS. When connecting to the CVS server I'm getting a cvs [update aborted]: connect to bass.directhit.com:2401 failed: Connection refused message. I'd like to make a `cvs diff' since I have an important patch related to a SEGV in the Cygwin sshd. What's the problem with bass.directhit.com? Corinna -- Corinna

Daily snapshots...
All, How can I get at the daily snapshots? When I go to the website, www.openssh.com, and follow the Linux link to portable.html and then go to request the daily snapshot from http://bass.directhit.com/openssh_snap/, I get prompted for a user id and password. Needless to say, I ain't got. That's real useful. Use to be, I could get the snapshots from the ftp site. Then things

connect to bass.directhit.com(65.214.36.12):2401 failed: Connection refused
Hi, According to http://www.openssh.com/portable.html, I tried to update my openssh_cvs tree by CVS. And got an error. $ cvs update -dP cvs [update aborted]: connect to bass.directhit.com(65.214.36.12):2401 failed: Connection refused Why? And from which cvs pserver can I get the latest openssh-portable? Thanks. -- NAKAJI Hiroyuki

CVS server not responding
Hi, the anonymous CVS server for portable OpenSSH does not want to talk to me: > % cvs upd -Pd > cvs [update aborted]: connect to bass.directhit.com:2401 failed: Connection refused Looking at http://www.openssh.com/portable.html, ":pserver:cvs at bass.directhit.com:/cvs" is still the recommended repository. Is this a known problem? -- Kent Engstr?m, Link?ping University

openssh-SNAP-20001016
Using openssh-SNAP-20001016 all of our problems with hanging connections have gone away (woohoo!), and it seems to be working flawlessly, but I am seeing messages like this in syslog: Oct 24 16:57:48 dhumb301 sshd[17752]: error: channel 0: internal error: we do not read, but chan_read_failed for istate 8 Oct 24 16:57:59 dhumb301 sshd[17771]: error: select: Bad file descriptor Oct 24 16:58:30

sftp client
As of Sunday evening, OpenSSH has an interactive sftp client. It should be in the more recent snapshots. It would be appreciated if you could test new client and find all the bugs :) Please also have a read of the manpage and ensure that it matches what is implemented. I am working on fixing the ones that I know about, so please try to stay up to date with the snapshots. Thanks, Damien

Call for testing for coming 2.9 release.
If we can get people to test their platforms against the last snapshot/cvs tree I'd be greatful. (http://www.openssh.com/portable.html) I know NeXT platform has problems. I'm going to spend tonight looking at it. Also, take a moment to see what manpage type ./configure decided for your system and if it's 'cat' please let us know. Thanks. - Ben

bug in sshd.d (destroy_sensitive_data core dumps)
Hi, experimenting with openssh_cvs on my SCO Unix 3.2v4.2 machine, I had sshd core dumping on me. Tracking this, I found that if a host key is specified in the sshd_config that does not exist (I used "./sshd -d -d -d -f sshd_config" with the shipped sshd_config file, to work around incompatibilities with the installed sshd.com's sshd_config, and I do not have ssh2 host keys on

Call for testers.
http://bass.directhit.com/openssh_snap/ Starting tonight I plan on tracking changes very closely with the OpenBSD tree. I need people to test the latest snapshot (9/14 at of right now) and report success or failure on compiling. I am starting this now because we are looking at a code freeze soon and I really want to ensure it compiles and runs on all existing platforms. So we (the portable

config.h.in
Dear developers, today, I cvs'ed the newest openSSH. Unfortunately, the config.h.in file was missing. I copied it from the tar-ball. Was this my fault or a problem in the CVS ? socklen_t - where?
Hi, openssh_cvs as of today, SCO Open Server 3.0, socklen_t this typedef doesn't exist on SCO OSR 3, and "configure" properly detects this, leading to /* #undef HAVE_SOCKLEN_T */ in config.h. Problem: I can't find any place where this is actually being used? I'd expect something like #ifndef HAVE_SOCKLEN_T typdef int socklen_t; #endif ("int" is what the

openssh wish list for 2.6.*
Hi, something that I'd like to see for the next major release is "build OpenSSH without installing zlib and openssl". That is, I have a source tree with the following subdirectories: .../src/zlib-1.1.3/ /openssl-0.9.6/ /openssh_cvs/ and want "configure", run from openssh_cvs, to be able to find the zlib and openssl trees in the directory

Makefile dependencies
Hi, the openssh_cvs Makefile includes the following rules: $(LIBSSH_OBJS): config.h $(LIBOPENBSD_COMPAT_OBJS): config.h but no equivalent for $(LIBSSHD_OBJS) - is this desired or an oversigt? In my case, I built the sshd, tested it, reconfigured with SKEY support, rebuilt (just running "make", no "make clean"), and tracked down the non-working s/key for a while before I

CVS server connection bad?
Hello all, It'd appear the CVS server bass.directhit.com has been experiencing rather bad connection problems during the last 1-2 weeks. At the moment, I'm getting over 50% packet loss be it from Finland or from the US. Hopefully something will be done about this :-/. -- Pekka Savola "Tell me of difficulties surmounted, Netcore Oy not those you

[PATCH]: contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config
Hi, below is a patch to contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config and the corresponding README in the same dir. It adds a `--port' option to the config script to allow setting another port than 22 for sshd. Additionally the script used to add `sshd 22/tcp' to the services file while the IANA proposes `ssh 22/tcp' and `ssh 22/udp' as services entries. The new version removes old `sshd'

Lets try this push again.. 2.5.1p2 bugs left.
Things that are still outstanding: 1) Solaris/Redhat/HPUX session.c patch. I've not seen a ya or na on Kevin's pam patch from the Solaris group. 2) Odd Redhat/Debian scp/ssh issues. .. I'm baffled, and I can't replicate the bug. Nor have I seen anything remotely like it reported. 3) SCO.. Is it happy yet for compiling? =) Completed: 1) mdoc2man.pl .. Commited into

PLEASE TEST snapshots
The next OpenSSH release is close, too. If you want OpenSSH 3.2 to be the best version of OpenSSH, then please test the snapshots. If you like to see new features in future OpenSSH releases, then test the snapshots. If you are running OpenBSD then please test the OpenBSD snapshots. If you are running the portable OpenSSH release then please test the nightly snapshots from
