Apache and CF
Hi All,
I have a CentoS 5.3 Xen Instance at Mosso.
I need to run ColdFusion and I have in the past successfully made
everything work, but not on Linux rather Windows.
I just cannot get Apache and CF talking. I added mod_jrun22, When I
try to serve a CF file, I am asked to download binary data. I
added .cfm and .cfml to Directory Index for /var/www/html in
httpd.conf and nothing still.

Firefox ESR and Coldfusion
CentOS-6.4
x86_64
Firefox-17.0.10ESR
I am getting a missing plugin report from Firefox when trying to load this url:
http://yyyy.xxx.net//sco_launchv5.1.cfm?regKey=22349&CFID=0&CFTOKEN=1ED09F3E-5335-471C-BF35C63C0CAC4019
A Firefox search for plugins reports none found. I believe that this URL
refers to a Coldfusion script. Given the context I am working in I believe
that this script

Apache DirectoryIndex
I'd like to change the DirectoryIndex document for just the DocumentRoot,
leaving the default DirectoryIndex setting for all other directories. However,
when I set DirectoryIndex in the <Directory "/var/www/html"> section of
/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf it seems to set it for *all* directories.
DirectoryIndex doesn't seem to be allowed in .htaccess either.
Does anyone

[somewhat OT] Apache config for Rails + ColdFusion + PHP
Our group has several web apps developed in ColdFusion, PHP, and Rails. The
ColdFusion and PHP apps are on an older server, and the Rails apps on a new
server. Ideally, we''d like them all to share the same server.
Our current setup for the Rails server is Apache2.2 with mod_proxy_balancer
and mongrel_cluster. We''d like to have specific directories be processed
and served by

Can AGI be used in this way?
Hi all,
I'm about to build a basic browser based call management module with some
basic functions and was wondering if I can use AGI in the following way:
browser app --> calls perl script containing AGI stuff --> controls
asterisk.
The most important task I'm hoping to integrate is call transfer via web
browser.
If not, are there any other ways to do this? My web app is built

E-Mail Serving Options
Hi All,
What are my e-mail serving options? I need to host POP, IMAP and SMTP.
I must admit that non-windows e-mail hosting has always been a chore
for me. I remember QMail and QPopper IIRC.

Virtual Hosts question
I am running Wordpress on a CentOS 6.5 server which is behind a router.
The private IP is 192.168.0.99, the public URL is X.com (name changed).
I have two virtual hosts in my httpd.conf file. The second one, listed
below, is for Wordpress and it is accessed with http://X.com/d4i or
http://www.X.com/d4i. They work fine.
Actually, not show, I have more Wordpress virtual hosts, and they are

RAID10
Hi All,
I am looking at ZFS and I get that they call it RAIDZ which is similar to RAID 5, but what about RAID 10? Isn''t a RAID 10 setup better for data protection?
So if I have 8 x 1.5tb drives, wouldn''t I:
- mirror drive 1 and 5
- mirror drive 2 and 6
- mirror drive 3 and 7
- mirror drive 4 and 8
Then stripe 1,2,3,4
Then stripe 5,6,7,8
How does one do this with ZFS?

Sparc?
My 12 year old wants to learn more about servers and has memorized a lot of commands like ls, chmod, du, etc.
He wants to have his own domain and server on the web and I have enough Static IP's, so why not foster this interest.
I have an old ultra sparc 5. Are there any CentOS versions that support Sparc?
Or recommendations? I know OpenBSD does, but I am more versed in Solaris and versions

Mass Mailing
Has anyone found a good method of mass mailing a bunch of people (100k)
using RoR yet?
I have always used a scheduled task to run a ColdFusion page every x
minutes to send out blocks of about 7500 (sending the full 100k crashed
the page) and this worked pretty well and now we are migrating all out
sites to ruby, I seed to do something similar.
Thanks in advance,
James

Server HD failed and I think I am hosed
a hd in my server failed.
I noticed when I went to SSH in and get a copy of some files in /var/www/html
I tried to tar the files and I was told No, read-only file system.
I restarted and tried running FSCK manually (without -a or -p) and I get inode errors, short reads, etc.
I tried booting to my CentOS 53 install DVD. I do linux rescue and I get to where it wants to know where CentOS images

Using Integers to Store Bits of Information
Hi,
I am a very new to ruby on rails so please forgive me if someone has
asked this before.
I need to make a form with many checkboxes. Sometime ago I was using
Coldfusion and I chanced upon this great article on how to store flags
using binary numbers.
http://cfdj.sys-con.com/read/41674.htm
Just wondering if there is something similar in RubyOnRails that I can
learn from and use. That

Anybody building elearning apps with Rails
Hello
I''m new to rails (just boarded the Train a week ago). I''ve been an
elearning developer for about 10 years and for the last couple of years
have solely concentrated on adding tools to a proprietary Learning
Management System built in Coldfusion. ...But I''m also a Java and ASP.NET
developer.
I am keen to start an open source rails inspired project to build the

Moving hard drives
Hi All,
I have a server that is running nicely, except I have hit the maximum RAM (4gb) and I wish to add more.
It is an ASUS board, AMD X64 dual core, nvidia nic.
What I want going to move to is a dell board, Intel Pentium M dual code, which supports 8gb of RAM.
Can I just unplug the HD and move it to the new server and boot it up?
I assume that the NIC will need to be re-setup, but what

Problem with DFS mounting (works OK in smbclient) [samba-3.0.14a-2.1.fc4.kde]
I am having problems mounting a DFS share, even though it works in smbclient
fine.
After mounting, the mount point (in ls) has question marks for everything, and
when ls'ing I just get permission denied.
Turning up debug and verbose don't seem to help. Any ideas ?

[LLVMdev] Some understanding of LLVM vs gCC vs Intel C++ Compilers
Hi All,
I have spent a better part of my 32 years on this earth writing
Solaris software and more recently leaving that and returning back to
Mac OS.
I obviously know about GCC and the Intel C++ Compilers.
I am looking to have more freedom and flexibility along with producing
better quality software.
How does LLVm fit in?
I know that it is a C/C++ Compiler, but how do I use it? Is it
