Debug data for Wine, DirectX and games.
Hi there wine list this is not going to be a request for help as much as it's a request for how I can help the wine developers. I've got some time over the next couple of weeks and a stack of applications I want to see if I can get running under wine. I thought if I started testing a whole bunch of things I might be able to gather some useful test data for the wine developers as a way

Shearing in screenshots of DirectX?
I'm trying to take screenshots of the Dawn of War game through Wine. The game runs fine and under Windows it has a built-in screenshot function that dumps a JPEG to a sub-folder. Under Wine the game never gets the print screen request because Compiz or Metacity hijack the signal first and start Gnome-Screenshot. Sometimes the screenshot is okay, but other times the screenshot has

Medieval total war
I installed the game - Medieval total war. It seems everything works fine, but there is one problem. When launching the game. I saw the screen does not display military unit or any other game related stuff (e.g. forest, casstle, troop, etc.) It only shows a screen that contains grass and a blue something like sea. Though when clicking the military unit, I can see green spots on the ground

AGEod American Civil War vs. Wine 1.1.18
Hi, I'm trying to run AACW (and WIA) under Ubuntu 8.10 x84. I installed Wine 1.1.18, Winetricks and installed AACW and patched the game up to 1.13b. Unfortenately, the game won't start because of an error ("Exception EAccessViolation dans le module AACW.exe dans 00004054. Violation d'access a l'adresse 00404054 dans le module 'AACW.exe'. Trouble with directx games on wine-1.2 64 bit
Ever since the RCs and the release of 1.2, I have been having trouble with directx based games not working properly. They did work under wine-1.1.3x. The problems are: video very slow and jerky, about 1 fps, objects appearing as "tears" on the screen, missing some textures, and screen going blank during certain effects. System: 64-bit kubuntu-10.04, dual NVIDIA 9800GT w/ 512 mb, plenty

empire total war stuck at startup (copyright) page
Hi, This is my second day since owning empire total war. Really looking forward to playing it, but I have not. I'm using the latest wine program. I follow the winehq 's description for installing empire total war (installing d3dx9, changing registry, placing MSVCP80.dll at system32 and winecfg). Now, I'm stuck at the startup page (where all the copyright details are). Loading stops

Medieval 2 Total War
Good evening! So, I have a problem with installing this game on ubuntu-linux. I tried it with Wine which turned out not to be able to set the doublebuffer in the configuration menu. First there were no problems, but after having installed quite half of the game there was an issue: Though the Error came in German (cause the game in German - anyway, I am a German guy ^^) The

Problems with Directx
Ever since 1.1.27, I've been having problems with what I think is directx. I updated to 1.1.29 (I skipped .28) and I still get the same errors. I've tried using winetricks to install Directx9, but it doesn't do much to alleviate the problem. I've completely deleted my .wine folder and reinstalled 1.1.29 from scratch, but I still get the problem. I have the latest nVidia drivers

Wine 9.30 Slackware 11 ATI FireGL 5200 (Propriatory drivers) I found Shogun in a shop as a 'Classic' game and I've been trying to get it to work using Wine. Shogun uses Safedisc and so does not work in it's, ahem, original form. However it can, shall we say, be persuaded to get over it's difficulties and at least run. This is where I am now. I have the game running and

Which version of DirectX 9 does Wine support?
Hi, I came across a game demo, Shrek the third. The installation went almost smoothly, but the installation directory it went into was C:\Program Files\My Product Name instead of the suggested default: C:\Program Files\SHReK the THiRD The demo said it requires DirectX 9c and indeed it doesn't run because it needs d3dx9_32.dll. It seems Wine doesn't provide this DLL currently. Best
