ubuntu package installs
hello puppet list
My puppet server is now working quite wonderfully. Thanks go out to
all who have assisted in getting it to this point. At this point in
time my config is now correctly installing packages according to
arch,os and release. Centos is working quite well as of now, but I am
attempting to get the ubuntu side of things to work as well. I am

heroes3 on xubuntu jaunty, 2 problems
Hi, I recently upgraded my eee 904HD to xubuntu jaunty (clean install), and
there were 2 problems.
First, when starting Heroes3 the xfce taskbar was visible even though the
application was full-screen. Clicking on the application didn't hide the
taskbar. Switching to another window and then back to the app window did the
trick.
Second, after some time the sound stops.
None of these problems

installing MS Office Project 2007 from trial disc
Hello,
I can't get setup.exe to install Microsoft Office Project 2007 on Xubuntu Jaunty 9.04 using Wine 1.0.1. At first the installation box will open, and I may see a hint of the colorful Office 2007 logo; but then a small box opens and says "Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available. Run Setup again from the original source disc or download

Repository issue with R 2.8.0 in Ubuntu 8.10
Dear List,
I'm not an expert on Linux but I have been using Ubuntu and R sice two
years ago.
I've just installed Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex (8.10, Kernel:
2.6.27-7-generic) from the scratch and then installed R, following the
instruction given on:
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu/README, and everything
worked fine.
However, after the installation I realized that the installed

Starcraft logs out from gnome session
Hi there
I've been using latest (development, 1.1.25) wine on hardy some time ago, but now I am on Jaunty and I have encountered some problems. Wine is up to date, although.
First was the trouble with graphics, but thanks to this topic it was solved.
Next problem is the reason for this topic creation.
When I'm launching Starcraft, connect to battle.net and then quit Starcraft, gnome

Solitaire Master 5
I am a complete Linux newbie and am trying to use Wine to run the eGames set of card games Solitaire Master 5 with Ubuntu 8.X OS. I installed the version of wine that was available with the add/remove programs application. It seemed like I installed solitaire master 5, but when I run gamebutler.exe by double-clicking I get back the following error: The file "c:\Program

R CMD check issue with soft-linked directory
I've been having some strange problems with R CMD check in the last couple of days, but
now believe I have localized the issue.
I had been running Ubuntu Hardy on one drive and then upgraded to Jaunty, but put Jaunty
on a different drive. I continue to be able to boot Hardy when I wish. I soft-linked my R
working area i.e.,

Wine 1.1.7: Sound regression?
I have recently formatted my system in order to install Intrepid Ibex, and I am now using it with Wine 1.1.7. I did a backup of the prefixes of the games I was using in Hardy / Wine up to 1.1.5, and imported them in my new installment. The games work normally, but the sound is crackling all the time for each of them; something which was not happening in my former installment. I have not noticed

Please see the Ubuntu bug report for photographs and logs of this
problem "Clipped area for multiple X screens with different dimensions":

Thanks to some great support and suggestions in #compiz-fusion-dev I've
made some progress in trying to pin this issue down.

Move listeners problems
Hi!
I'm using Icecast 2.3.1 (xubuntu Hardy) and have problems moving
listeners. I thought it had to do with the client, but now that I've
tested cortado, mplayer and vlc I've begun to think it is actually the
server. I'm using the web administration interface to move listeners,
get '1' as result code but all clients hang after the buffer is empty.
Any ideas/pointers?

Evening folks:
Not sure where this fits into the picture so bear with me for a few
moments while I think out loud to lay out the particulars of my problem.
-would love to be employed using R for a living but so far I have just
worked with it on my home machine to develop a basic level of skill with
it.
-I run Ubuntu linux 8.04 LTS on a machine with a 2.5GHz Celeron
processor and 1.2GB of memory.

Lots of bugs in xubuntu lucid
Hello guys,
i've decided to test nouveau driver and installed it recently from
official repos. My videocard is GeForce 4 with additional S-video and
Composite outputs, 64 MB of memory. I installed xubuntu, and tried to
use nouveau driver instead of official nvidia's. After switching driver,
the boot splash xubuntu logo turned into poor coloured low-resolutioned
one, but X loaded normally.

Echo and static on PRI with errors.
Hi there,
I'm having some fairly serious asterisk problems, which seem to be spread
quite liberally across all asterisk versions, I've tried 1.4.2, 1.6.0.10,
1.6.2beta4 and still had exactly the same problem with static and echo on
the line when using the PRI interface.

Help with running childrens cd-rom in Xubuntu
Hello, I'm a newb with wine and not terribly bright with linux. I am
trying to get some of the kids' games to work in Xubuntu. I got wine
installed, and it seems I got the hot wheels game installed, after
finding that I needed to run everything as sudo. Now when I run the
program in the windows window I see a low-res video of a cd-rom being
inserted into a disk drive, presumably

Change in Ubuntu support policy
Due to the increasing difficulty to maintain R backports for a three
year old Ubuntu release, we are immediately dropping support for
Ubuntu 6.06 "Dapper Drake". It also appears that few, if any, people
were expecting an up-to-date version of R for Dapper on the desktop.
So far, our policy was to support all Ubuntu releases until their
official end of life date. For Long Term
