Hwo to disable the polling function of mac_srs
In crossbow, each mac_srs has a kernel thread called "mac_rx_srs_poll_ring" to poll the hardware and crossbow will wakeup this thread to poll packets from the hardware automatically. Does crossbow provide any method to disable the polling mechanism, for example disabling the this kernel thread? PID provider can not create memcpy:return probe for 64bit process
I have found that pid provider can not create memcpy:return probe for 64bit process on snv_110. For example, the pid is 10603, I will have following output for dtrace command: #dtrace -n pid10603:libc.so.1:memcpy:return dtrace: invalid probe specifier pid10603:libc.so.1:memcpy:return: probe description pid10603:libc.so.1:memcpy:return does not match any probes This just

About ZFS compatibility
I have created a pool on external storage with B114. Then I export this pool and import it on another system with B110.But this import will fail and show error: cannot import ''tpool'': pool is formatted using a newer ZFS version. Any big change in ZFS with B114 leads to this compatibility issue? Thanks Zhihui -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

Re: TAR 4182518.999: OCFS problems encoutered during support Intel project
Hi Dean, Thanks for your kind help. Since I couldn't use vpn in Intel and be a little late after I arrived home, I didn't get chance to modify the TAR on metalink. Tomorrow, I will go CDC and update it accordingly. We think all the problems should be caused by OCFS itself. There are two outstanding problem for now. First, we will get below error message when we issue "srvconfig

B62 AHCI and ZFS
Hardware Supermicro X7DAE (AHCI BIOS) dual Intel Woodcrest processors, 6 x Western Digital Raptor SATA drives. I have installed b62 running 64 bit succesfully on a PATA drive. The BIOS is configured to access the SATA drives in native mode using hte AHCI Bios. I have 6 SATA II drives accessed via the Solaris AHCI driver. I have created a ZFS file system across all 6 drives. This works fine until

Can DTrace display non-instrumented function argument counts and types?
Is it possible to use DTrace to display the number of arguments and their types for userland or kernel functions that are not explicitly instrumented or documented by their authors? We''re talking about functions provided by Veritas VxVM/VxFS and the like, and for example, we might want to try tracing I/Os from App => VxFS => VxVM => ssd driver to see where I/Os get aggregated or

kernel memory and zfs
We have a 32 GB RAM server running about 14 zones. There are multiple databases, application servers, web servers, and ftp servers running in the various zones. I understand that using ZFS will increase kernel memory usage, however I am a bit concerned at this point. root at servername:~/zonecfg #mdb -k Loading modules: [ unix krtld genunix specfs dtrace uppc pcplusmp ufs md mpt ip indmux ptm

Unbootable system recovery
I have just recently (physically) moved a system with 16 hard drives (for the array) and 1 OS drive; and in doing so, I needed to pull out the 16 drives so that it would be light enough for me to lift. When I plugged the drives back in, initially, it went into a panic-reboot loop. After doing some digging, I deleted the file /etc/zfs/zpool.cache. When I try to import the pool using the zpool

zpool import hangs indefinitely (retry post in parts; too long?)
Now at 36 hours since zdb process start and: PID USERNAME SIZE RSS STATE PRI NICE TIME CPU PROCESS/NLWP 827 root 4936M 4931M sleep 59 0 0:50:47 0.2% zdb/209 Idling at 0.2% processor for nearly the past 24 hours... feels very stuck. ZFS Locking Up periodically
I''ve recently re-installed an X4500 running Nevada b109 and have been experiencing ZFS lock ups regularly (perhaps once every 2-3 days). The machine is a backup server and receives hourly ZFS snapshots from another thumper - as such, the amount of zfs activity tends to be reasonably high. After about 48 - 72 hours, the file system seems to lock up and I''m unable to do anything

zpool import panics
Hi, I just had my Dell R610 reboot with a kernel panic when I threw a couple of zfs clone commands in the terminal at it. Now, after the system had rebooted zfs will not import my pool anylonger and instead the kernel will panic again. I have had the same symptom on my other host, for which this one is basically the backup, so this one is my last line if defense. I tried to run zdb -e
