Best way to migrate a server?
I was just wondering what recommendations you have on migrating a CentOS 5 install between servers? I've done similar in the past by setting up a minimal install in the new server, use tar to copy over the old install and reboot. I was thinking of rsync this time. Is that an acceptable thing to do or have I missed something important? thanks -------------- next part -------------- An

Samba permissions problem
Hi all, I have a permissions problem with a samba share which I really can't fathom out. I'm trying to create a fully group writable share. Easy or so I thought. As you can see from my config I am trying all the options to set files group writable, however when I create a file from the client I'm always getting the mode 0644. Does anyone have a clue why? Thanks! client:

libGLU.so.1
I have a C++ program that I have been running on RedHat 6 and I want to move to CentOS 7. When I run it on the CentOS 7 system it fails with: error while loading shared libraries: libGLU.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I did this, but still have no libGLU. I did a find of the entire system for '*libGLU*' and nothing. bash-4.2# yum whatprovides libGLU.so.1

selinux policy remnant according to /bin/ls on CentOS 6.0 box
I installed CentOS 6.0 on 2 different x86_64 boxen. Both originally had selinux installed and enabled. I never touched selinux other than to remove as much of it as I could via rpm -e. As far as I can tell, here are the remaining packages that have something to do with it: # rpm -qa | grep -iE 'sel|pol' checkpolicy-2.0.22-1.el6.x86_64 libselinux-2.0.94-2.el6.x86_64

Problems linking asterisk against self-compiled openssl on CentOS 5
I am trying to enable full WebRTC support on asterisk-11.15 for installation on a CentOS 5 machine. Currently the distro cannot be upgraded to any later CentOS series. This CentOS series ships with openssl-0.9.8e, which lacks DTLS-SRTP support required for WebRTC. So I decided to build a parallel install of openssl. I chose the Fedora 21 package, openssl-1.0.1j, and built it on CentOS 5. The

Could not complete SSL handshake to Amazon EC2 host
> This is strange... > Do you have SSL aktive on both systems? Run nrpr localy without parameters > (this should return some nrpe stats) and check ldd for libssl. I don't seem to have that command. [root at monitor1:~] #find / -name "*nrpr" 2> /dev/null [root at monitor1:~] # And that's on either system. And if I do an ldd on both, this is what I can tell:

Could not complete SSL handshake to Amazon EC2 host
Hi Brian, Does "iptables -L" show anything of note? I'm leaving iptables off in this host. Because it's an AWS EC2 host I'm managing the firewall ports using the AWS security groups. [root at ops:~] #service iptables status Firewall is stopped. But still, there's this... [root at monitor1:~] #/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nrpe -H ops.jokefire.com CHECK_NRPE:

libc6 packages that really support nosegneg?
I've tried the libc6-xen package posted at: http://people.debian.org/~aurel32/xen/ However, it looks like programs are still calling the libc6 libraries in /lib/tls, instead of the xen-enabled ones. Is there anything special I need to do to get this to work, or is the package just busted? Thanks! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | nate carlson |

Large RAID volume issues
I have just finished creating an array on our new enclosure and our CentOS 5 server has recognized it. It shows as the full 6tb in the LSI configuration utility as well as when I ran fdisk: [root at HOST sbin]# fdisk /dev/sdb Note: sector size is 2048 (not 512) The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 182292. There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024, and could in

logrotate and regular expressions
I am trying to use logrotate to rotate our web logs for our various vhosted sites to cut down on space and rotate out old logs that are not necessary to keep around personally. What Im curious to find out, is how supported extended regular expressions is within the logrotate.conf file. More specifically, will logrotate be smart enough to decipher the following:

Define custom ldap libraries when building Dovecot
Hello, I would like to compile Dovecot using custom ldap libraries, located at a particular custom system location. How should I alter the config process to specify that the include dir is "/usr/local/openldap/include" and the lib dir is "/usr/local/openldap/lib64" and not the standard ones (/usr/include/ and /usr/lib64/ respectively) on RHEL/CentOS 5 (x86_64). Oh my mistake. I mean nrpe without parameters. It should say something about SSL/TLS aktiv or so. You could test nrpe without SSL. Priv Sep SSH has / as CWD
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, This may or may not be a bug. However, it is DEFINITELY NOT how I would expect and want to see sshd work! If you run lsof against sshd on a privilege separated user, it shows that sshd's CWD is /. I would hope that the CWD would be at a minimum /var/empty/sshd and I would really have thought it would be something along the lines of
