firefox on 5.4
I just installed 5.3 about a week ago, fairly minimal install, x86_64
platform... then upgraded to 5.4 this AM, and just installed firefox
$ sudo yum -y install firefox
.....
Installed:
firefox.i386 0:3.0.12-1.el5.centos firefox.x86_64
0:3.0.12-1.el5.centos
$ firefox
Could not find compatible GRE between version 1.9.0.12 and 1.9.0.12.

fix firefox?
I once had firefox x86_64 installed (because it was the default).
But that one has problems with plugins (flash, java), which are
much easily solved by using the i386 version.
So I unstalled firefox, and installed it again using:
yum install firefox.i386
This worked, and even the plugins worked fine afterwards.
I did have some problems when uninstalling, because yum insisted
on a whole load

question on "cp -f" on centos 5.1
When I issue the command cp -af --reply=yes * ../other
it tells me --reply is deprecated and use -i or -f.
when I remove the --reply=yes I have to indicate 'y' to every
file being copied.
I just want to copy every file in my current directory to another
directory and overwrite any file that is there.
What is the correct way to do that?

not enough time to learn maildrop and migrate right now.
It seems that LOGABSTRACT does not work : I don't get the datas LOGABSTRACT should prompt in the log, whether I don't set
LOGABSTRACT (default behaviour) or if I set it to "on",

"Possible intruder" warning
Hello,
I'm using tinc for a few years now and that this is my first post to this list
tells a lot about the quality of tinc, I think. It's just great, thanks a lot
for your fine work!
Recently I've discovered these messages in my syslog:

Need GLIBCXX-3.4.9 for /usr/lib64/libstdc++
I am trying to compile an application on a CentOS 5.0 64-bit machine that gives
me the error:
/usr/local/bin/myprog: /usr/lib64/libstdc++: version `GLIBXX.3.4.9' not found
(required by /usr/local/bin/myprog)
I have gcc 4.2.3.
I've performed a yum install compat-* and glibc*
What am I missing?
Thanks.

firefox problems
Just wondering if anyone might be seeing any similar frequent crashes of Firefox/GNOME/Nautilus lately. I have a couple of users who have reported a problem like this. Any ideas are welcome. Latest CentOS 5.5 w/patches, latest nVidia graphics driver, firefox from repos.

rpmbuild date shift
Hi,
I'd like to ask if anyone's experiencing date shift with rpmbuild/mock
on C5. I see +1 day date shift within changelog. Checked with
mock-0.9.14-3.el5.hrb and mock-0.6.13-1.el5_2.3.

xulrunner-devel dependencies
What's the deal with all of the new dependencies for xulrunner-devel in
the last update? I'm updating my servers and the update for
xulrunner-devel is forcing me to install 43 new packages! Is this a
packaging problem, or are all of those packages really needed?
For the moment, I've been removing xulrunner-devel from my machines to
avoid the problem. I figure since it is a

xulrunner-devel package missing many header files
Hi,
I've just installed xulrunner-devel from yum, but there are following
header files cannot be found in xulrunner-sdk-1.9/sdk/include:
mozilla-config.h
mozilla-config32.h
prtypes.h
The include/xulrunner-sdk-1.9 constains those above header files, I
did link to them, but xulrunner-sdk-1.9/system_wrappers/prtypes.h has
a problem as well:
#pragma GCC system_header
#pragma GCC visibility

gecko-libs dependency resurfaces
In doing an update of centos 5.2 this morning, I observed that the old
gecko-libs dependency issue caused yum update to fail because it was
required by nspluginwrapper (x64_86), devhelp, yelm and firefox. Also, a
firefox (x64_86) showed the red hat splash screen rather than centos.
Manual installation of affected rpms using --nodeps (I don't advise this) did

Two minor build system patches.
Hi all,
I ran into a few problems building R 3.3.1 and came up wth the
attached patches (fingers crossed they don't get stripped, I've also
sent this email to Jeroen since that worked last time). Would it be
possible to review and merge them if they are OK?
The first one uses AC_SEARCH_LIBS instead of AC_CHECK_LIB, looking for
ncursesw before ncurses since ncurses is usually build with
