Can sound be redirected from a remote computer to local computer?
I need to redirect the sound from a remote Centos 5.2 computer to my local
Centos 5.2 computer. Both are i386 OS.
Searching the web and Centos web site has indicated that it is possible but I
have not found any information about how to do it.
I am currently using ssh and/or vnc to display the remote computer locally. At
this point, the sound is being played on the remote computer only.

question difference of roaming profile between WinXP and Win7
Hello
I want to add Win7 machine to my Samba PDC with WinXP clients. Google tells me I have to add a .V2 to my profiles. The samba log ask about a .v2 share.
Can someone explain me the difference of the v2 extension at the profile names and the roaming profile share?
Following my settings:
smb.conf:
[global]
logon path = \\%L\nt-profile
logon home = \\%L\nt-profile
[nt-profile]

artsd eating CPU cycles when idle
I've noticed that artsd sometimes eats as much as 20% of CPU when idle.
This is on my old laptop (where playing MP3s eats up to 50-60% of
CPU). On newer faster processors this would probably go unnoticed (if
it eats 20% on Pentium MMX, on Pentium 4 it might be around 1-2% or even
lower). Just wondering if anybody else noticed this behaviour?

printer loss [susepro9.1]-mostly solved-samba the problem?
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions - the immediate problem is solved. I feel
that a monstrous weight has been lifted.
I tried the suggestions and the printer connection is back -
wonderful!!!!! what a relief!
I stopped the firewall and samba so it is one of them, or both which is
causing the problem?
I would vote for samba3 as the culprit because the printer loss occurred
on both machines on a 2

Sound problem
Hi,
I installed windows media player 6.2 on my system using winetools.
I use KDE and artsd is runnning. The sound works correctly on linux
but I do not get sound through wine using mplayer2. The error I get is
that no audio hardware is available.
What can I do to get the sound working on my system. I am using wine
20050111. I haven't used any other player except mplayer2 though wine.

Arc/INFO format with R? (fwd)
Hello All,
I have used that DCW data at PSU before, and one option (at that time) was
to download ascii files with the lat/lon point pairs for each of the
polygons for each country. The format was fairly easy to read (into SAS).
I just looked at the page again but I was unable to download the ascii
files. I don't know if this is a 'temporary' bug or a feature. You
