CentOS 5.2 with IBM SERVERAID 6i
I need to install CentOS 5.2 on a IBM Server xSeries 226, which comes
with a IBM SERVERAID 6i RAID card. I think it is not a true hardware
RAID card. I has, nevertheless, an interesting feature: 128MB of cache
with battery backup.
I launched the CentOS boot DVD and CentOS correctly identified the
card and the RAID 5 array as configured by the controller's BIOS.
My question now is:

aacraid monitoring tool?
I've got myself an Adaptec 2200 HW RAID card to play for couple of days. Tha
card uses aacraid device driver. Seems to work nicely, however just wandering
if there's a tool (prefferably CLI) for CentOS that can read out RAID
configuration data, status of individual drives, maybe even manage
(create/delete) RAID devices?
Thanks for any and all pointers.

Xen breaks aacraid
Hello,
I''m using Xen 4.0.0 compiled from source with the 2.6.31.13 kernel
that it pulls down on its own. I added support for the aacraid driver
to the kernel using ''make menuconfig'' from the
build-linux-2.6-pvops_x86_64 subdirectory, and then built and
installed the whole thing using ''make install'' from the xen-4.0.0
directory. I compiled this

hardware raid vs fake raid
Hi,
Does anyone know how I can find out if an ibm serveraid 8k sas storage
controller (zero channel RAID) is a real hardware RAID controller and
supported in the standard CentOs kernel or is it a fake raid controller.
I am trying to decide if I should get the serveraid controller or go get
a 3ware controller.

AACRAID controller setup?
This isn't exactly a Centos question but maybe someone here can help:
Does the AACRAID controller (as in an IBM 3550) store its config info
on the drives or internally? I only have one of the boxes and want
to load Centos 3.x on several drives which can be swapped into
servers at another location. With SCSI, all that took was a full disk
dd copy and a little fiddling with the HWADDR for the

I started it up with "linux dd"
It reads the disk fine ....
I can see the aacraid module in the list but as soon as I choose it.
Then I get a screen saying "Do you wish to load more Driver Disks?"

It's been a long time since I worked with ServeRaid, and things may have changed in the meantime.
IBM used to have a an iso with ServeRaid related tools (ibm_sw_srapp_.....) that included Linux

Folks,
Mercurial is selectable as an installation in
OpenSUSE 10.3 YAST.
I have done the following:
hg clone http://xenbits.xensource.com/xen-unstable.hg
hg clone http://xenbits.xensource.com/linux-2.6.18-xen.hg

ServeRAID 4Lx - Plain 2.6.12.6 works - Xen not
Hi *,
I try to install Xen 3.0.0 on a IBM x342 with a ServeRAID 4Lx controller.
The box boots with "plain" 2.6.12.6 (aic7xx- and serveraid-support
included). It does not with a similar configuration of 2.6.12.6-xen0.
Any hints, boot options?

aaccli on recent conrollers?
I have just built a new SunFire X4100 server with an Adaptec 2230SLP
RAID card using FreeBSD 6.2-PRE kernel (from September 20).
Everything is working extremely well except I cannot run the aaccli
utility on this controller. When I try to open the controller, it
gives this error:
Command Error: <The current AFAAPI.DLL is too old to work with the
current controller software.>

Installing 32-bit CentOS 6 on a new Lenovo System x3650 M5 server?
Is there any known incompatibility with the latest 32-bit (i386) CentOS 6 and the latest Lenovo x3650 M5 servers? I?ve been running i386 CentOS 6.X on 3 year old x3650 M4 servers without any issues. Our development environment has not been ported to 64-bit (x86_64) yet, so we are stuck using i386 for another few months. When I try to boot from the netinstall ISO image I just get a ?Boot Failed?

IBM ServeRAID Manager software
Hi there,
I'm in the process of installing Centos 5.2 on an IBM x236 w/
ServeRAID 7k I recently acquired to act as a samba file server. The
hardware has all passed various stress tests I could throw at it so
we're okay there.
My question is. Has anyone had any luck getting the latest IBM
ServeRAID Manager v9.0 working in CentOS? If so how?
ServeRAID Manager is based off Adaptec's
