Problem with PXEBOOT of diskless client -- fails to mount RAMDISK
I am having a problem with setting up diskless clients under CentOS 5.2. I have everything working under CentOS 4.7. This is an adaptation of the (somewhat old) Diskless Linux with PXE HOWTO by Gerd v. Egidy, originally at the URL http://www.intra2net.com/opensource/diskless-howto/, which is now defunt (there is a mirror of it at http://blog.chinaunix.net/u/2389/showart_82438.html). What I am

Building an install disk on a USB key manually or using unetbootin
Has anyone successfully built a USB key for installing centos5.5 either manually or using a tool like unetbootin? I am trying to create one using the 64bit install DVD iso and so far the USB either won't boot (unetbootin) or the installation aborts after I select the iso location on the USB key (manual). Thanks, David

Question about dhcpd.leases
Hi, I'm running a DHCP server on my local network. I've noticed something that puzzles me. Leases are written to /var/lib/dhcpd/dhcpd.leases, but only - so it seems to me - if the address is not fixed in any way in dhcpd.conf. Here's a few stanzas of my dhcpd.conf : host babasse { hardware ethernet 00:0d:61:ae:6b:8f; fixed-address 192.168.1.1; option

In that case ? and I freely admit I have some bias here ? I highly recommend Fedora. It's not stable in the sense of strict ABI compliance, although we try to minimize disruption within the

FreeBSD-9.1 would not boot on pentium3 laptop
Hello! I have an old Dell Latitude C800 laptop (with Pentium3 CPU in it). FreeBSD 6.3-STABLE was running fine on it, but I decided to update the machine to 9.1-STABLE. Well, neither my own custom kernel, nor even the official 9.1-RELEASE CD1 would boot... In both cases the boot process runs up to detecting uhub0, then either hangs forever or shuts off after a short while. Again, I thought I

It documents the installation of CentOS 5, from a single CD, adding software, configuring squid, NFS, Xen, etc and sharing yum cache and lot more! I request everyone to check this out and tell me what should I
