Hello, I have been using FreeBSD-7.0STABLE with BIND-9.4.2 ( i guess, forget to check before upgrade) up to 2008-01-26 (yesterday). general: warning: max open files (3636) is smaller than max sockets (4096)
This happend since I've upgraded bind 9.21 to 9.6.0. I've increased the max open files to 4096: sysctl -w kern.maxfiles=4096 which shows it resized from 4040->4096 But I guess it's different for bind? I've googled and found several references to this warning message, but everyone states it's not a problem and shouldn't be concerned. Some real advice would be

My BIND9.6.0 on FreeBSD 6.2 works fine when I manually start with: root@ns2# named -4 -S 1024 -c /etc/namedb/named.conf But it won't start on boot and no error messages or log. And it won't start using rndc, it cause error message. Why does the error shows port 953 when I specified for port 53 in the config? rndc: connect failed: 127.0.0.1#953: connection refused Below are

Package Matrix does not compile in R-devel_2009-01-10
Dear developers, today I tried to build and install R-devel_2009-01-10 on FreeBSD 8.0-CURRENT (i386) for testing purposes. All went well until compiling the now recommended (integrated) Matrix package. At this point the following break occured: ------------------------------------------------ begin installing recommended package Matrix * Installing *source* package 'Matrix' ... **

[LLVMdev] build error on libLLVMSystem.a without any useful error message
make VERBOSE=1 might tell you something. Apparently the shared library link is failing for some reason. cannot access samba server
I am rather at a loss as things seem to change by themselves on this Vista machine. Here's the setup: Vista client, FreeBSD 6.2 server with samba 3.0.25; also a FreeBSD 4.11 machine (server) with samba 2.2.12 Vista connected to samba 3 with password and the machines were present on the network. Then the machines would not show up on Vista at all; they could be pinged and they could be

Dovecot not accepting connections
Hi, new user here, trying to track down an issue. Sometimes, after starting dovecot, I'll attempt to check mail and will not be able to get a connection to my server. I'll kill dovecot, restart it, and usually it will begin working. When I first ran into this, I first tried auth_debug=yes, restarted dovecot, and had no problems. I'd turn set auth_debug=no, restart

Still hitting odd problems trying to install R 3.5.2 on Debian amd64 machine
My Emails a week or so back were about installing Rstudio and the R shiny server on Debian. I was using an old Toshiba laptop as a sandbox for that and it would only install i386 (same for Ubuntu). Using the information at https://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian/ I did get to the point where I had R 3.5.2, Rstudio and the server on there (with some help from Dirk that is in the list archives).

SMBD Crash
Our software utilizes an OS X Server (Snow Leopard 10.6.8) for file read and writes. We gather files out of many directories, process them, and then write files back to the server. We had a long time end user who utilizes our software with an XP box upgrade from XP to Windows 7. Now with Windows 7 the SMBD is crashing routinely under heavy loads. Whatever information it was working

[LLVMdev] [llvm-commits] remove libtool from build system
For those of you who haven't noticed, I'm planning to commit a major change to the Makefile rules tomorrow evening (Tuesday) if there are no complaints about it between now and then. This needs testing on Darwin. I've heard back from Linux on many platforms and even FreeBSD, which is fantastic, but I'm told that lots of LLVMers are running Darwin and I haven't heard a peep
