Weird problem with puppet 3.1 on Windows
Hi all, I''m installing the latest version of puppet (opensource) for Windows on Windows 2008 Server (At Amazon EC2). For some reason, Puppet''s scheduled task is configured to run every 20 hours instead of the desired 30 minutes (as shown in - http://docs.puppetlabs.com/windows/running.html) Is it a bug in Puppet? Is it something that I misconfigured? Screenshot of the

cross-correlation table with subscript or superscript to indicate significant differences
Hi, I wonder whether the following is possible with R, and whether anyone has done that and can share his/her code with me. I have a correlation matrix, and I want to create a correlation table that I can copy to Microsoft Word with a superscript above each correlation, indicating significant differences in the same row. That is, when correlations in the same row do not share superscript, it means

Only one joystick of two activated
Hi, I am always using the newest Wine snapshot on OpenSUSE 10.3 x86_64. My two USB-joysticks (js0, js1) - which are pedals and joystick - work without problems with all native Linux simulations like FlightGear, Torcs, etc. It is a big pity that with Wine only the first joystick is activated, no matter which order I use, because with Wine all my old Windows simulations work without problems.

get cells by the combination of their column and row names
Hi, I have a (correlation) matrix and I want to select a subset of its cells depending on the combination of their column and row names. This illustrates my problem: mtrx <- matrix(c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), nrow=3, ncol=3, dimnames = list(c('c132','c432', 'c233'), c('r132','r233', 'r432')))> mtrx r132 r233 r432c132 1 4 7c432 2

Has anyone implemented these in R ? Thanks as always Peter

Openning samba server to the Internet
Hello, I'm running samba on a Linux server. I want to login to that samba share from another computer not located in that specific network. I want to be able to "open" my samba server so everyone will be able to login to it. I'll secure this unsecured option using Firewall, restricting those specific ports only for the IP I would like to login from. What's

Find index of a string inside a string?
Hi, I am searching for the equivalent of the function Index from SAS. In SAS: index("abcd", "bcd") will return 2 because bcd is located in the 2nd cell of the abcd string. The equivalent in R should do this: > myIndex <- foo("abcd", "bcd") #return 2. What is the function that I am looking for? I want to use the return value in substr, like I do

Error in mer_finalize(ans) : Downdated X'X is not positive definite, 8.
Dear All, I have conducted an experiment in order to examine predation pressure in the surroundings of potential wildlife road-crossing structures. I have documented predation occurrence (binary?) in these structures and calculated several possible explanatory variables describing the spatial heterogeneity in several scales. At the landscape scale I have calculated the percentage of different

Rating IP phones from the users POV?
Looking to outfit a 8-person office shortly and am looking for IP phone recomendations. Saw recent threads and the wiki with all kinds of suggestions and notes on configs but little on the "feel" and sound quality. I have a PolyCom SoundPointPro analog desk/speaker phone and the Cisco 7940 here. How to the other business-class phones compare, from a user's point of view, to these?

Wine Success and Failure report
Hello, (first post) You probably don't want to hear about my Linux-related story, so I'll cut telling you that about 5 months ago I switched from XP to Ubuntu. I've been a C/C++ programmer since I was 13 (2 years go), so I consider myself to understand a great deal of things (but hey, what is my opinion worth nowadays?) Anyway, In this post I'd like to report my Successes and

prototype.js Ajax is slow
So I was doing some experimenting with prototype and ajax and discovered something interesting. When I use the first ajax call the response from the server take 53ms. When I use the second on using the prototype functions the request from the server is over 200ms. My question is why, and can it be fixed? <p><a href="#" onclick="serverSideAlert();">Call

[BioC] limma, FDR, and p.adjust
You asked the same question on the Bioconductor mailing list back in August. At that time, you suggested yourself a solution for how the adjusted p-values should be interpreted. I answered your query and told you that your interpretation was correct. So I'm not sure what more can be said, except that you should read the article Wright (1992), which is cited in the help entry for p.adjust(),

Grand prix legends recognize only two joystick axis
Hi, I'm trying to use my saitek cyborg evolution to play with grand prix legends. The device is correctly recognized by linux as a 6 axis 12 button device: Code: jstest /dev/input/js0 Driver version is 2.1.0. Joystick (Saitek Cyborg USB Stick) has 6 axes (X, Y, Z, Rz, Hat0X, Hat0Y) and 12 buttons (Trigger, ThumbBtn, ThumbBtn2, TopBtn, TopBtn2, PinkieBtn, BaseBtn, BaseBtn2, BaseBtn3, BaseBtn4,

Frequent reboots...
Hello, I am having a problem with a new server running FreeBSD 4.9-PRERELEASE. Once every two days or so, it reboots itself.. there is no exact time of the day it reboots.. It rebooted itself at 4:25 PM EDT on 9/25, and 3:05 AM EDT on 9/29 (today). I thought it's the bad memory or some sort, so I've been running memtest today and memtest reports no sign of trouble with the memory...

External file-attributes plugin for rsync
Recently, with LSM (linux security modules) interface growing stable, it is becoming easier to implement different access-control systems for linux. There are already several projects using different approaches to the access-control problem. Each of them has its own meta-info for each file. When syncing two hosts which use some security module, one needs to sync this meta info for each file

usb interface support
Dear wine user group I removed the whole installation under the root path and reinstalled the application to the user directory -thanks to mr. vitamin. But the effect is the same - the usb interface has not be enabled although the driver works correctly, see jstest /dev/input/js0 -> Driver version is 2.1.0. Joystick (IPACS Ikarus Gamecommander) has 7 axes (X, Y, Z, Rx, Ry, Rz, Throttle) and
