I am trying to download/install WoW on my openSUSE 11.1 system, running wine 1.1.13.
I download the PC Game Client from WoW website, which when launched on windows, downloads the game installer, and then runs the installer.
When i try to launch it, I get the following error from the WoW client itself:

Wrath of the Lich King
I just installed Ubuntu for the first time yesterday, so I'm still pretty much a total noob. I installed Wine and got the other programs that I needed. Everything went smoothly. I installed World of Warcraft and Burning Crusade. Those installed fine. When I put in the WotLK disc, however, it says, "Access Denied." I also tried downloading it from the WoW website. It downloaded for

Problems installing WoW on Fedora 13
Hi there.
I am not a Linux noob, but equally, I wouldn't say I'm an expert either; I get by.
Recently built myself a new Fedora 13 box, running an AMD quad 955. I chose X64, which may have been my first BIG mistake, but I've stuck with that decision.
I have installed Wine, and have the 32bit version working.
I play WoW on XP, but, would like to get it running under Wine.

WOW "fixes"
I've run across the following two articles on the wow wiki. The first link
is the general page for Linux/Wine. The sound and voice chat is what I'm
most interested in about the second link. Can anyone comment on how current
and useful these tips are? It's nice to know that Blizzard knows about and
actually seems to "care" about Linux users, but I really do NOT want to

Rhapsody errors out on cookies?
I just tried to install the latest version of Rhapsody. Everything is fine until I try to log in. Then it gives me an error that cookies are disabled and asks to enable them. It fails this ad infinitum. Is there anything I can check?

WoW - WOTLK Install issues
Hi all,
I have been searching high and low for an answer to my problem however I can not seem to find it and similar bug fixes do not help. Whenever I run wineconsole/wine on the Installer.exe file for Wrath of the lich king it gets to the EULA screen (and before you say get the dll's) promptly crashes.
There error message is posted below. Any ideas on how to fix?

Wine, Wow Cata and D3D
Running Ubuntu 10.04, Nvidia driver version 260.19.29, 3 GB RAM, AMD Phenom Quad-Core, wine-1.3.11.
I notice no difference in performance whether OpenGL is enabled or not. Does this mean D3D is now working and I don't need OpenGL now?
I get close to 80fps in some places, which is great, but in a raid or other places with a lot of toons and activitiy, Wow practically freezes up and becomes

WoW runs *only* as root (openSUSE 11.1, GeForce 8800GTS)
Before I say anything, I should probably say that I do realize that I should not be running wine as root, however for the purpose of debugging I tried it anyways ... and to my surprise found it worked.
1 The situation
First of all, this is the same installation, using the same configuration file on the same computer, etc. As a normal user Wow.exe does not even start (note that Launcher.exe does

Blizzard Game Store Downloader doesn't work
I'm not really sure what the problem is or how to report it. It likely affects each individual game downloader application regardless of the game.
Anyway, the problem is that when you register a CD-Key or buy a digital copy of a game from the Blizzard store, they give you a P2P downloader app. Someone on the forums said it has some of your account information embedded in it to authorize

Wine and WoW Cataclysm Patch 4.0 troubleshooting thread
Hello,
The WoW 4.0 Cataclysm patch landed today, and there's bound to be lots of questions about getting it running in wine.
My current status is that I've downloaded the patch and installed it. I've got the new (original WoW) login screen graphic. Once I login, I see a new character background and then a "downloading update" message. Wine crashes moments later.

Wow - Downloader Connection timeout
I've been trying to get WoW working onmy Fedora 14 installation, but I seem to be having problems getting the internet connection to work.
I start the game with
Code:
wine Launcher.exe -opengl
in the ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/World of Warcraft directory.
I can access the internet from using
Code:
wine iexplore http://www.google.com
so I know the wine network connection works.

Try wineprefixcreate to repair old .wine instead of deleting
Alexandre says we should have users try wineprefixcreate
before having them blow away their old .wine directory.

WoW Launcher.exe crashs
Hi,
I've got no problem playing World of Warcraft via the Wow.exe file, but Launcher.exe was always a little buggy, crashing from time to time.
Problem is that today there's a new, small, patch, and Launcher.exe keeps crashing (the Launcher window shows up, then freeze), so i can't update and therefore, can't play.
I use Archlinux (64bit) and wine 1.3.19.

internet registering through wine
I have installed a CAD/CAM program call eCabinets (its a free program for woodworking and cabinet shops). When it starts, its asks for its registration code which I have. It then tries to open the default internet connections to register but eventually times out. By the looks of things, it its acting like a firewall is blocking it. I do not have a wirewall installed yet. I am running Ubuntu 8.10
