How to fix Baldur's Gate 2 in CIDER so it doesn't crash?
Hey! Hello, WineHQ. Signed up because I've hit the limits of my ability with CIDER.
I'm using the CIDER version of Baldur's Gate 2 on my Macbook 10.5.8 and I've gotten the game to run fine in Single Player. Unfortunately, I'm unable to run it in multiplayer mode which is a favorite of mine.
Normally one can run a multiplayer TCP/IP game in BG2 so they can import/export

Anyone out there running Dragon Age:Origins on SNOW LEOPARD?
Im currently working at it, and got as far as being able to resume a saved game, but only for a few seconds before it crashes.
You can see my full progress in the AppDB. Since, despite many helpful posts, there doesn't seem to be anyone actually running it on SLeo over there, I was just wondering if ANYONE has been successful in that task, or if I'm the only lonely wanderer in the dark...

wine in battlefield 2142
The mac version of battlefield 2142 is basically the windows version run through cider and wineserver to run the programs. The game used to work fine. Lately, however, the game has been freezing whenever I get on a server about a minute into the game. I don't know why, but after some digging I came across this.

[LLVMdev] Optimization of string.h calls
Hello all. Is there a way to get llvm/clang at build-time to optimize a string.h call so that the final form of the string is saved in the binary? For instance, for a statement like...
strrchr(__FILE__, '/') + 1
…and where clang is called on this code’s source file with “clang /some/long/path/file.c”, can I end up with only “file.c” stored in the binary on disk? I think you can see

[LLVMdev] Optimization of string.h calls
Yes, well that is a good point w.r.t. strings as typically passed to string.h functions. I guess in this case I had figured that the use of __FILE__ could easily be optimized since it becomes a string constant. Am I wrong? Is the issue that __FILE__ might occur multiple times in a source file and thus become a merged constant? Perhaps there is simply not much use for a string-optimizing

upssched
Hello,
(Saddened for my bad English)
I have just created a script to install NUT
I manage the events with UPSSCHED and I would like to know how to launch
this command via /etc/nut/upssched-cmd every 5 minutes to verify the
level of battery of the UPS and decide on the action to be run.
Is there an option in the configuration which I was able to forget?
Other question : there is another command

SecuROM and Wine on Mac OS X
Bah! Okay, so I'm running WINE v1.1.43 on Mac OS X.6.3.
Now, I went and bought myself a copy of Oblivion (Game of the Year Edition), but it's got smelly SecuROM in it, which I understand WINE supports?
However, whenever I try to run one of the "protected" (from customers) programs it complains that there is no disk. The disk however is there alright, and I have a mapping for

Thoughts on a possible solution to get the Sims 2 running.
I am trying as hard as I can to find a solution to get the Sims 2 to work. I have a new copy on the way and everything I hear says the game wont play in wine.
Now I had an idea, the last time I ran the Sims 2 was on a Mac. I know for a fact the the Mac version is just in a Cider wrapper, I know because I've opened it before. Now I'm sure EA didn't dump thousands of dollars to rebuild

A new approach to test Wine/CrossOver
I wrote a small article (http://eengine.org/en/winehq-how-one-can-help/) about Wine and described there two ideas. The first one is about how in my opinion comminuty could help debugging rendering issues. And the next one about new approach to test D3D-related things (for regression testing, for example).
The goal of this post is to ask feedback for QA guys if they think that this could work or

Need T1 crossover cable?
I'm connecting a T1 PCI card to a Nortel Option 61 switch T1 card. My
Sangoma A102D shipped with 2 T1 cables - which I assume are straight
through. Do I need to make crossover cables for this scenario?
Thanks

Is Wine just as good as CrossOver?
Hello!
I struggle to run the Game Gun from Wine 1.0.
I manged to do the following with CrossOver.
Through CrossOver 7.0.0 I installed DirectX.
In the same bottle I insatelled Gun.
I replaced the Gun.exe with a Gun.exe for a no-cd-crack.
This works fine.
Is it possible to di the same with Wine 1.0?
Best regards

Is Wine taking my donations and giving them to CrossOver?
Well I must say.
I certainly feel like a fool now.
I have been contributing to Wine for about five months, and was shocked to see a blatant advertisement for CrossOver, who take the hard work of those who have contributed their intellect for free and sell it for profit, on your home page.
I then discovered through your own FAQ that most Wine developers are employed by CrossOver.
Is this legal?

How to run wine regedit on crossover?
I know this is on crossover, but seeing as crosover is just a tweaked version of wine (or something) i thought you guys could help out. Just wondering, I'm wanting to play yuris revenge and red alert 2 on my mac using crossover. It works, but is slow, and so following this; http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/cat/?app_id=4149;forum=1;msg=56763 it tells me to run wine regedit. but i

Dragon Age Origins Awakening
I have managed to install DAO:Awakening. It is working in the sense that you can get into the game and play the game but a lot of item text is missing. For example, many new items have no description and appear in my inventory as gxa_im_(code) . Also I have unlocked battlemage by buying the book, however I cannot level up as battlemage, I cannot click the specialization button, nor does any text

Wine license and Mac App Store
Hello had a quick question. Wine emulates a game that I hold the license to and I wanted to submit the app to the Mac app store. On the Apple side, other developers have said that this may be accepted by Apple, but I wanted to see as far as the Wine side. I know wine uses GNU LGPL v2.1+. My question is could someone tell me exactly what I'm required to make public if I'm selling the game?

SPORE Createure Creator for Mac may be using Transgaming?
I noticed while backing up my MacBook's /Users after I bricked it is
this:
/Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/SPORE Creature Creator
Preferences/wineserver-HOSTNAME.DNS.TLD-USERNAME
then I noticed the SPORE Creature Creator also had dlls and other win32

Am I crazy or SPORE Creature Creator for Mac is just normal Spore
Creature Creator with Transgaming?
PS. the bricking of my MacBook
