Joypad emulated for more than one player
i suspect my USB Joypad controller is controlling more than one player or in some cases (acting or having more than one instance active), acting like at least another 2 controllers connected at the same time, games like Guilty Gear Isuka/XX #Reloaded can configure the number of players/controllers for being used, while i configure the game for use only port 1 for joypad, in the case of Guilty

Installing R on Ubuntu ( 8.10 ) ?
installing on Ubuntu, how to do it and have people found it to be glitchy?
which is easier , binary install or from source ?
With the source install, are you less likely to have a dependencies issue ?
( Ubuntu does the GCC install seamlessly, but has no mention of R )

WINEDEBUG for a non-descript segfault
Hi,
I'm loooking at a Linux program that calls WIne and then segfaults
without any real information. Are there any debug channels that make
most sense to try and trap in this specific case?
Thanks,

Wishlist: simple legend options (PR#7400)
Hello!
I was loooking in R-bugs and found under wishlist-fullfilled wish for
"smart" placement of a legend. This has already been done in package
gplots in function smartlegend.
One question. This "bug-report" is under wishlist-fullfilled. Is it really
fullfilled?

Issue with old style dos truncation
Hi there.
Recently upgraded from 2.2.9 to 3.05 everything is working great except for
one small snag.
I noticed it when working on the unattended Win2k installation, when it was
copying a more than 8 Character Folder.
Normally and certainly on 2.2.9 it would truncate the file name say from
DellDrivers to DellDr~1 and would still work.
However, it was truncating the file name to D1DRER~B (or

--timeout=... lesson learned...
I thought other might benefit from this lesson learned and thought it maybe
should be added to the man-pages.
I thought my network connection was glitchy and hence set rsync up for
--timeout=120 but I found out that I was actually causing the glitch with
this script:
#! /bin/sh -
while true; do rsync -avz --progress --timeout=120 --delete
/media/rsync_gb01/movies/ myserver:movies; sleep 120; done

Portal + Intel HD Graphics 3000 + Ubuntu Natty
I just set up my new Lenovo ThinkPad X220 for use with Ubuntu Natty. All is well (even the function keys work!) except for 3D games. I'm not asking a lot here - these are games that are supposed to run at least decently on a HD 3000 accelerator.
So far I've tried Amnesia: The Dark Descent, it's Linux-native demo, and Portal. ADD loads to it's menu, but nothing (like 3D

Any special kernel patches for good S100U performance?
Hi,
I've added an S100U to my * setup.
I've tried it using both uhci and usb-uhci USB driver modules. I both
cases the audio is occasionally glitchy. In addition, usb-uhci
complains
Apr 18 19:06:21 bob kernel: usb-uhci.c: iso_find_start: gap in seamless isochronous scheduling
uhci.o doesn't log this error, but the glitches still occur.
Perhaps there are some latency patches or

Remove viewer for Mac desktop
Hi.
I have a couple of Mac?s I use (a MBP 15? and a Mac mini), but I have a stack of Linux KVM/Qemu hosts (Centos 7.5) running various VM?s (Ubuntu, Fedora, Win7, Win10, etc).
Currently I ssh in with tunneling for X, and let the VNC client draw remotely on XQuartz. It?s reasonably fast on my 1Gb network, but glitchy (hangs, pointer location being wrong, spurious keyboard repeats, refreshing the

Strange new boot problem with CentOS 4 machine
I have a custom-built PC on which I've been running CentOS 4.x (kept
up to the latest x) for a few years without any problems ... until
this week.
Last week I was out of town on an extended trip, so I shut the machine
down and powered off my UPS, etc. When I returned on Saturday, I
turned everything back on, and the machine seemed to be booting
normally ... and then it just very abruptly

Answering the Hydrogen Audio thread
My worry is more around metadata handling and parsing commandline input.
You can't pass UTF-8 in setlocale on windows (from the docs: "If you
provide a code page like UTF-7 or UTF-8, setlocale will fail, returning
NULL."). There is a good chance that the behavior will still be correct
with UTF-8 strings even when in the "C" locale, but I'm not entirely sure.
If so,

Need help with Oblivion
Good evening my fellow Linux enthusiasts,
for some time now I've been trying to run "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" on WINE with very little success.
I've gotten it to play but with no sound and very glitchy graphics. The various menus flicker wildly and the characters are messed up.
A while ago I launched Oblivion from the terminal and here's what I got from it:

passive FTP trafic control
Hi All
How to classify packets belonging to a FTP session?
Port 21 session is easy. but what about data transfers? Their port numbers
(both) are above 1024.
I was thinking about ip_conntrack_ftp. Something like:
iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp --sport 1024: --dport 1024: \
-m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j CLASSIFY --set-class X:Y
But what if I also have ip_conntrack_irc, for instance.
