Cool 'n Quiet
Hey all,
Since moving a 4.3 x86-64 install from a single athlon64 to a new dual
core AMD cpu it would appear that cool'n quiet is having trouble as is
shown in the system logs;
powernow-k8: ignoring illegal change in lo freq table-2 to 0x2
powernow-k8: transition frequency failed
Any ideas ?
Cheers,
Brian.

AMD64 cpuspeed/cool 'n quiet
Can anyone tell me if cool'n quiet (which is controlled by the cpuspeed
utility under linux ?) works when running a 64bit capable CPU in 32bit
mode, ie the entire OS is 32bit. I tried it with centos 4.1 and it did
not seem to be able to throttle the CPU when running in 32bit mode, mind
you that was a few months ago.
Cheers,
Bards.

Wine with Guild Wars
Hello all
I'm totally new to linux and wine so please bear with me.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and wine 1.2.3
I used the winetricks tool to get 7-Zip and Guild Wars.
7-Zip seems to work fine
(I have a windows machine and Guild Wars works just fine)
When I try to open Guild Wars first it says it's not responding then I get this:

Why does Guild Wars keep flashing and displaying horizontal bars after it is launched
Hi, I recently installed WINE on my computer. I checked if Guild Wars is compatible with WINE and it said it would work flawlessly. I installed Guild Wars through WINE then ran the game. When I launched the game all you can see is a deformed version of the game with horizontal bars flashing everywhere. I even installed my graphics card through the Hardware Drivers section in Ubuntu.Does anyone

Guild Wars
I cant seem to get Guild Wars to run at all. When I launch it I I get an error "Guild Wars has encountered an unrecoverable graphics driver error and must terminate". This is a Guild Wars message and not a Wine message.
So I'll cover the basics. My system is a P4 3.2 Ghz with an AGP bus, and 2gigs of ram. I'm currently using an ATI based Sapphire 3850 AGP card 512m, and running

display floated away
I am running linux. I lost kde and while trying to fix it I tried to run Guild wars in X under windowmaker. Guild wars came up in a small window and slowly floated to the right bottom of the monitor and off the screen. It continued to run even though I could not see it. I could hear it and I had to kill it in the process table to stop it. When I run it through the icon or thru terminal nothing

Guild Wars minimizing problem
Hi all. When trying to minimize the guild wars window from fullscreen, all it seems to do is draw a screenshot of my current desktop and stick it in a window and call it the guild wars window. I can't minimize or maximize this window, so getting back to the game doesn't happen, I must close it and restart. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I am using Linux Mint 9 with the latest

Guild Wars 2 hangs on start
Hi,
I would appreciate any help with getting Guild Wars 2 to run on Debian Linux (KDE, testing). When I hit the "Play" button on the start screen, the music starts to play but the GW2 window only shows the underlying console window. It just sits there and has to be killed manually.

Guild Wars 1 and Stops Win95 and Win98 Support
Dear Wine-Community!
Guild Wars stops on 2012-14-06 the support for Windows 95,98. But since Wine-Users could switch the Windows version to Windows XP or above we are not effected.. are we?
This should be an action to made the Guild Wars Client safer and to protect User Accounts. Couldn't guess what security Mechanism Windows 2000 do support that is missing in Windows 95 and 98.
No doubt

Guild Wars (Platinum Application) now broken
Hi forumers,
any Guild Wars players around here?
This use to be a Platinum application in WineHQ and I've played it for ages with Linux.
As of today (2012-Feb-23) they made an update in the game (they make that often) and it seems to have broken down the first grade Wine compatibility they had.
Here is what I get (running it with the Terminal to get the output of Wine errors):

Error running Guild Wars with .9.3
Hello all,
I gave this a stab a few months ago but gave up and
just set up a dual boot. I'm running low on disk
space now and tired of messing with the muliple
partitions, so I'm giving it another go to get Guild
Wars running in Linux.
I'm runing Wine 0.9.3 on Kubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake).
I'm able to go through the instillation without issue,
but when it actually tries to

Big files; Slow I/O
Hello,
wine has some issues when games are using big files, for example Guild
Wars - It's storing it's game data in one big file:
wdp at anni /games/Guild Wars $ du -h Gw.dat
3.6G Gw.dat
That results in very very slow i/o. It's not a file system issue (i
tried to higher read-ahead with hdparm, i changed from ext3 to xfs and
other games are running really fast on my box) thats

Guild Wars - Direct3D8 is not available without OpenGL.
Hello everyone!
As one might think from my subject line this thread seems to be about the usual no-32bit-OpenGL-libraries-installed issue, that Google is full of when you are looking for a solution.
My problem is a bit different: My system is 64bit, indeed, but the 32 bit graphics libraries/drivers are installed.
32bit native games like Enemy Territory run fine.
GuildWars starts with the
