Program manager
Hey First of all, great project. Second, I was wondering if there is a program in the wine project, where it is possible to make different setups for the programs installed. Let me explain: I have Picasa installed, I also have C&C 3 installed, now C&C 3 I want to run in window mode and Picasa I don't want to run in window mode. Is it possible to make different setups for them? Or do

Is Wine taking my donations and giving them to CrossOver?
Well I must say. I certainly feel like a fool now. I have been contributing to Wine for about five months, and was shocked to see a blatant advertisement for CrossOver, who take the hard work of those who have contributed their intellect for free and sell it for profit, on your home page. I then discovered through your own FAQ that most Wine developers are employed by CrossOver. Is this legal?

Wine 1.1.7 and 1.0.1 not working on Intrepid 64 bit
I posted this on Ubuntuforums but after reading a bit more it seems this is mostly used for gaming questions so I decided to come here. I am running 64 bit Ubuntu intrepid (still a beta but a release candidate). I can see Wine in my application menu but when I go to Programs/Acessories/Notepad nothing happens. I am unable to open the configuration nor am I able to uninstall using the Applications

Wine license
Please be patient and read this... Can AJ please change the license of the wine-launcher (like mono does)? You can still keep the libraries under LGPL. Please note proprietary is not bad and no oss w/o proprietary... You can make WINE a standard of binaries because of competition of Linux/BSD/Solaris binaries. It would be good for OS developers if you Change the license of the WINE launcher.

Gamemaker 5.3 under wine on OSX?
I'm very new to wine, so please excuse my noobness. I'm going to be teaching a course on Game Design for non-programmers in the fall. The school is an all-mac operation, but I'd like to use YoYo Game's Gamemaker to teach the course. YoYo has a mac version in beta, but it is unclear if it will reach release in time for my class to begin. I know that the current version of

Word Wrap Problem
Hi, I have installed openSuse 11.1, which uses wine 1.1.11. I had already used wine with openSuse 10.3 which, I think, had the version 1.0. I have a dictionary for windows which doesn't work well in wine 1.1.11 but it worked with a small problem, but not so big, in 1.0. As in all dictionaries, the explanation of a word is shown in a text box. When the explanation is too long the text box

Do the developers of wine get royalties or developement support from cross over office and transgaming companies
I would like to know if wine developers (well team) receives royalties or support from transgaming and cross over office creators. Because I am disgusted that the Wine creators spent so much time and effort and hard work into their creation with good intension's whilst transgaming and cross over office developers use there system to profit on things that are a necessity rather than just being

CrossOver license
Hey guys, I have a question about CrossOver and the LGPL license. I'm looking into licensing some software of my own and I'm not sure if I can. >From what I've read the LGPL license doesn't allow any product to be sold if it's based on LGPL protected software, unless it uses the software simply as a plug-in: > A program that contains no derivative of any portion of the

Codeweavers
Today October 28, they are giving their software for free. Yes. Interest is go great they had to take their main site offline! Downloads can be done from the subsitute web page. So ... is their's really better than Wine on Debian Sid or Experimental? I have no need for MS-office. OO is more than good enought. However ... the question remains :-) They also offer a games package.

Quickbooks and Wine
> A little while ago someone posted that they had Quickbooks running under > wine. Was this installed under Wine, or it is running from a dual-boot > situation? CodeWeavers apparantly has Quickbooks running (unsupported) under CrossOver Office 1.2. (Quicken running supported, for what *that* is worth...) Codeweavers puts its code back into Wine; the only thing they don't is anything

Tips for packaging games?
Hi list, I intend to package a few games of mine using Debian packages for easy installation and would like some tips on how to do it properly. I thought of creating packages that depends on wine and to create a wineprefix for each game somewhere in /usr or /var mostly because different games want it's own settings and to control them separately. But this way I don't think updates of

wine upgrade 1.1.9 broke program
I have a Ubunu 8.04.1 system that has been running a package under wine with no problems since last June. A few days ago I ran the software upgrade program and it moved wine from 1.1.7 to 1.1.9 and this package no longer works. When the program starts it needs to contact a server and that portion fails. Can someone tell me how to return to the 1.1.7 version of wine. Or alternatively point me at

Sound skips in all games since Wine 1.1.6
In 1.1.5 the sound/music in games played allright. Since 1.1.6 it skips badly - plays for a couple of seconds, then stops for half a second, then plays again, then skips and so on. Happens on every game on Steam - Team Fortress 2, Everyday Shooter, Peggle Extreme - and also without Steam - Icy Tower. I have Razer Barracuda AC-1 sound card. I've found that in Winecfg when I choose Alsa driver
