I put it on the Desktop for every user.

Downloading, installing and running .exe programs using Wine
I am a Peace Corps volunteer in Chadiza, Zambia and I am in somewhat of a predicament which is that my windows operating system crashed. Fortunately I had a CD ISO of Fedora 10 I installed onto some flash drives, however I need to use my cell phone to access the internet and the software to do this is only available via an .exe program. Therefore I have a questions two, the first of which is

How to get started installing a Windows app under Wine
I hope you'll tolerate some real beginner questions. I'm new to Linux (Kubuntu 8.04) and even newer to Wine (1.1.5).
I've installed Wine via Adept Manager - install seems to have run correctly.
I'm now attempting to install my first application (PDFill Tools - not rated, and I wouldn't be surprised if it won't work).
My problem... I'm not sure I'm even starting

Errors using WINE with certain programs
So far I have tried using 4 programs with WINE so far and I have not been able to get any of them to work right. An Emulator program kept blinking, a small desktop application called "catwalk" also was blinking. It took me a while to get those programs closed because of the blinking.
I also tried installing the Windows Version of TrueCrypt. It had an error on install. Files were

new to wine and ubuntu-installing programs
I am new to using Ubuntu and attempting to use wine to install windows applications for use on Ubuntu is getting slightly irritating as its not as easy as it seems. Long time windows user, and tired of the lack of options windows has, and Ubuntu has appealed to my nature as I do quite a bit of art programs on my pc. One program, Poser 7, seems that has been loaded and run in Ubuntu using Wine,

Cant load ANY programs under WINE.
Everytime I try to load a file I get this message.
The file '/home/secord/Downloads/msgr10us.exe' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied form an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit.
Any way around it? I cant make it executable either its just not an option.

Problem installing Stata - "no windows program configured"
Hello all,
I need to use Stata to collaborate with some colleagues on a project. I use Linux Mint exclusively on my computers. Though Stata licenses are OS-independent, the university I'm at only supports Mac and Windows. Stata is available through a university-wide license for those operating systems. Unfortunately, they refuse to offer a download for Linux users. Since I don't want to

How to avoid users installing any Windows programs
Hi,
i have some multi user machines, which are installed with Ubuntu 10.04 and Wine.
Wine is only needed for one special Windows application, so the standard users should not be able to install or run any other Windows program on these machines.
What steps are needed for that task?
Cheers,
Andreas

Re: Limiting the execution of Wine to allowed programs
Wow, I didn't expect anyone to reply...my bad. Actually I was more interested in landeel's idea of a custom Wineprefix. If I can do that, then I could also implement a DirectX fix for one of the older games...Sonic R, and fix that green patching. Well, I dunno how to implement the patch, but I know where the code is.
Since there's plenty of space on the hard drive, installing Wine

The tool read the HD serial trough a low level routine inside the exe file, I
need something that simulate that process on wine.
Do you know if some people had similar problems with other licensed softwares?

Windows program installation with Wine
Apologies for what is probably a silly question !
If one installs a Windows program in Linux with Wine which requires things like Winetricks to install some Windows stuff, is the whole installation within the .Wine folder ?
I assume that when installing Windows programs (Including anything else that is necessary, eg. from Winetricks) then everything is indeed within .Wine with no changes at all

Drive not found-problem when running programs in Wine
My wife has a Asus Eee (running the original Xandros Linux), on which she wants to run the Rosetta Stone language self-learning software. Naturally, we have it in a Windows-version, so I installed Wine, copied the files on the CD-ROM to a USB memory stick, ran the installer under Wine, and everything worked, to my surprise, without more than a few glitches and re-tries.
So the program itself
