Re: Problems with Final Fantasy XI Online - Japanese
Resurrecting this old thread after more than a year in the hope that maybe someone will have some kind of idea or suggestion... I'm now using wine-1.4-rc1, and still am unable to get past the FFXI character selection screen. I still cannot install the Altana expansion DVD yet either. Unfortunately borrowing the English version to test is not possible for me, as I live in Japan. Buying it

Installing Final Fantasy XI on Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Remix
Hello Wine Forum Members, This is my first post and I am looking forward to many more. My first initial question is: Is it possible to run FFXI on Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Remix? I've seen some earlier posts about running FFXI on 10.04, but I haven't found anything where someone would be trying on something much smaller. I am new with ubuntu and Wine. So if this is possible is there some kind

dll files
I'm a recent convert to the Linux lifestyle, and I would like to get to a point where I rarely, if ever, have to boot into Windows on my machine. While I'm not a huge gamer, I do enjoy Final Fantasy XI. I would like to get it to run under Linux/Wine. According to the information from the AppDB, the only way to get FFXI working under Wine is to have a copy of the dxdiagn.dll from Windows

Playonline needs 32-bit true color
I installed playonline under WINE on Ubuntu. It installed without any problem, and when I went to load it up it even starts to open up like it would in windows. But then an error appeared: _______ Error Code = 20008027 Can only be displayed properly in 32-bit true color. Start Playonline viewer anyway? _______ If I click no, it closes. If I click yes it actually starts up, plays music, and I

Hello everyone! I'm planning on setting up a new system shortly and can't pick the right card... We will have 2 or 3 lines coming in and 7 extensions (GXP2k's). Should I just get 2 or 3 X100P cards? Or do I need the Sangoma A20200 or even the A20200D (Echo cancelation)... I was thinking I'd use a Dell 2.0 GHz machine as the server... If anyone has suggestions as to

Problems with Final Fantasy XI Online - Japanese
Hello all, I've been trying (and thus far failing) to get the Japanese version of FFXI working under wine. I have been playing FFXI here in Japan since the release, so I have the original Japanese 4-disc CD set, plus the extra CDs/DVDs for each different expansion. I originally started with wine-1.3.8, and for the most part, the CD installs and POL/FFXI updates worked fine -- I was actually

Neverwinter Nights suddenly not working
I've had NWN running on this PC just fine, but all of a sudden, it fails to run, giving me the infamous 'encountered a serious problem' dialog. System is Ubuntu 10.04, wine 1.3.14, nVidia Corporation C67 [GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M] (rev a2). Full terminal output at http://pastebin.com/WmCEteZK Any ideas? Many thanks, David Shaw

FFXI Ultimate Collection: Abyssea Edition Install
I know the HowTo deals with installing FFXI from a DVD but I'm having problems installing this from an .exe downloaded from the Square Enix Store. Basically the installer runs, and I'm able to continue in the installer, then select the components to install (POL, FFXI and all 4 expansions). However, when I click Next, the Installer skips to the Install Completion window. Note that this

[cfe-dev] [RFC] Open sourcing and contributing TAPI back to the LLVM community
Benifits of TBD: 1) It's human readable and diffs on TBDs correspond to changes in the ABI. Diffs can be automatically added to review processes to ensure that changes to the ABI are reviewed. The TBDs also document your precise ABI. 2) The size is smaller which means they can be shipped in an SDK instead of binaries to reduce the size of an SDK 3) Stubs are producible from TBDs (or should be)

Seems like there are a few of us interested in this then. I new around here and don't really know how decisions are made, so what's next? Just open a diff with the entire library?? D3D settings
I've looked at different d3d settings in the application database and have a few questions. 1. I dont have a d3d registry key in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D] 2. I created a .reg file to import and just need some explanation on the values. As posted here is my .reg file for import > [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D] > >

Ideally Jurgen would cut up the code on github, put up an initial diff for a minimal viable tool, and then we would review it and then continue to copy code from the github repo into llvm and review it. I'm also willing to do that if Jurgen doesn't want to at this point though. I'd like the OK from Jurgen on that and I'd also like the OK from someone that the license stuff is all

That sounds great to me, thanks Jake. I'm not Jurgen either, of course, but I'm happy to assist you if he is unavailable. I'm not also not qualified to audit the license, but do note Apple formally also released some code at https://opensource.apple.com/tarballs/tapi/. If there's anything else I can do to help, let me know. Cheers, John On 04/10/2018 06:13 PM, Jake Ehrlich

FFXI on Debian Etch 4.0-r6 AMD64
I followed the instructions for setting up FFXI on Wine (including copying the .dll from the Windows XP system) but when I launch pol.exe, it just comes up with a black screen. I can hear music for a few minutes but then it crashes. Anyone have any ideas? Code: nate at tux:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/PlayOnline/SquareEnix/PlayOnlineViewer$ wine pol.exe err:alsa:ALSA_CheckSetVolume Could not

Was there any progress in the upstreaming effort? I'd be interested in having lld be able to link against tbd files, and I think it'd be cool if libtool -static could write tbd files (similar to thin archives on linux) since that should make archiving much faster. Juergen, maybe uploading your initial patch to phabricator instead of attaching might get more traction? On Wed, Apr 25, 2018

Highload project on RoR
I need advice about What is the best practice to scale RoR project ? My current stack is: - Ruby 1.9.3 - RoR 3.2.8 - Redis DB for caching and some hot data - PostgreSQL - Resque for background jobs I am expecting a highload for my project for several month. And I need to change my architecture. Primarily, I want to change my backend architecture. I read about highload
