Installing Windows Drivers in WINE
I thought I read somewhere that it was actually possible to install Windows drivers in WINE. I'm only asking because I have a Radeon 8500 on my sister's Linux box, and the Linux drivers really suck. I actually can't even install the proprietary drivers, they are so out of date. Is this possible? Owen Stairs

Wine on OpenBSD
Hi, I was just wondering if there is any ongoing effort to get wine ported to OpenBSD. The wine version in their ports tree is from 1999 or so. -- Marcel W. Wine runs your malware!
http://www.trustedsource.org/blog/186/Running-Windows-Malware-in-Linux So: avoid running toxic waste, and use a fresh .wine and run ClamAV over it regularly if you're fond of trying random binaries found on the Net a lot ;-) - d.

Re: [Rd] corrupt data frame: columns will be truncated or padded with NAs in: format.data.frame(x, digits = digits)
James, thanks for the response. I understand now my puzzle. tmp <- data.frame(y1=1:4, f1=factor(c("A", "B", "C", "D"))) tmp$y2 <- NA tmp[1:2, "y2"] <- 2 Does the job. I see that I should add a full column. In my case adding full column of NAs and then adding values, solves my problems. Thanks to all. james.holtman at convergys.com

Ubuntu users, please upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy for Wine 0.9.60 and later
To prevent conflicts when upgrading to 8.04, older releases will no longer be getting Wine updates. Ubuntu Hardy will be released this Thursday, and contains many fixes that also affect Wine, such as support for some missing libraries in the 64 bit version. By default, Ubuntu's update manager will disable third party repositories on upgrade, which will leave you with the Wine included in

playing with Wine on Cygwin
I'm currently playing with Wine on Cygwin on Windows 2000 on VirtualBox. Just to see what happens. Also to see how feasible Wine on Windows is from here. I've been updating the http://wiki.winehq.org/CygwinSupport page accordingly. With the 1.1.11 source tarball, I'm getting a compile error: internettransport.c:348: error:

MSN Messenger in Wine?
It's marked "garbage" in the appdb, because the installer doesn't run without quite a bit of tweaking. But anyway ... I want to get MSN working in Wine. It's for my girlfriend's daughter, whose XP box just got trashed by a virus/rootkit (spread via MSN, of course). So we've saved her stuff and we're nuking and paving the box. I would like to use Ubuntu instead of

Blank image for non-existant image URLs
Morning/Afternoon/Evening All, Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on forwarding requests to invalid images (ie images that result in a 404 error) via routes.rb or a similar method? If possible I would like it to be based on the url so I can have different blank pictures for different directories (ie /images/people/user_id.jpg => /images/people/blank.jpg and

Issues getting R to write image files
Hi All, Have spent the last couple of days learning R and shell scripting to do batch plotting jobs. I have had success getting R to complete a filled contour plot and output to a file (.jpg or .tiff etc). However, when I try to do the same thing with the simple plot command the script seems to execute correctly yet there is no output. Below is my R code: file <-

How much of Wine Explorer is functional?
I wanted to play music in VLC for Windows off a network SMB share. [*] Music's on \\red\trollop\music\ so I put that into VLC and it didn't like it. So I started "wine explorer" from the command line and went to "Connect network drive ..." and it came up with a dialogue box: "No network" - that's all. Is this actually supposed to work properly, or is

Question about image storage and relative paths
I''m writing a website with a feature that hosts images that people upload. Right now, relative paths works within on my Windows box. So specifically, I''m able to call File.open on "public/images/somefile.jpg" and Rails/WEBrick understands that the path is relative to the home directory of the project. This means that "public/images/somefile.jpg" ends up

Dynamic image resizing and caching
I''m working on an image system that does rescaling and effects on demand, rather than on upload. The uploads are stored as master files, and resized images are generated, cached and returned by a controller, using a request similar to this: /images/21/150x100/filename.jpg (where 21 is the image id) I also have various filters implemented, adding the concept of filter sets (which is

Problem/anomalous behavior with image() function (and ReadImages?)
When an RGB photo is displayed using R's image() function with the help of the pixmap (or rimage) package it is common to see an anomalous white line running across the picture (either horizontally or vertically). The line can be removed by simply stretching the image frame a little in the direction perpendicular to the anomalous line, or by maximizing the image frame (tested under Fedora 10;

Dynamically setting the image directory used by attachment_fu
It took me a while to figure this out and I don''t see any wiki pages for attachment_fu so I figure I would just post this here. I didn''t like the way attachment_fu by default creates directories under a given directory for a specific class e.g. item_image/1/img_1.jpg item_image/1/img_1_thumb.jpg item_image/2/img_2.jpg item_image/2/img_2_thumb.jpg item_image/3/img_3.jpg

Building R for windows tools link
Hello! I think that link to page of Duncan Murdoch (bellow) should be given http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/ at http://developer.r-project.org/. It's easy to launch Google and find mentioned page, but it took me quite some time to do this, because I was sure, that it is noted somewhere on {www,CRAN}.r-project.org. Maybe I didn't read carefully ... Lep pozdrav / With
