MyScribe (QT application)
Hi,
I'm trying to run myscribe
(http://downloads.cafescribe.com/MyScribeSetup-20070319.exe), a
windows QT-based application, on Linux.
I tought it would not have been too hard - and the fact that the
software is using QT actually would lead me to think that they could
make a Linux port without mayor disruptions.
I managed to install the application - even if the fonts were

Patches for CVE-2024-27322
Dear R-core,
I just received notification of CVE-2024-27322 [1] in RedHat's Bugzilla. We
updated R to v4.4.0 in Fedora rawhide, F40, EPEL9 and EPEL8, so no problem
there. However, F38 and F39 will stay at v4.3.3, and I was wondering if
there's a specific patch available, or if you could point me to the commits
that fixed the issue, so that we can cherry-pick them for F38 and F39.
Thanks.

svn diff -c 86235 ~/r-devel/R
(or 86238 for the port to the release branch) should be easily backported.
(CC Luke in case there is more to it)

RStudio package maintenance moved to Copr
Dear all,
With the latest release of RStudio last week (v2024.09.0+375), support for
Qt builds has been removed. This means that we can no longer maintain
RStudio packages in the official Fedora repositories, because the necessary
Electron component is missing. RStudio is supported in the official
repositories up to v2024.04.2+764 and F40, and has been retired from newer
branches.
Consequently,

Many thanks I?aki.
Will Quarto get pulled in from your COPR automatically as well or do we
need to specifically install it before/after?
Also is it worth updating the "add ons" section at
https://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/fedora/ as well?

This patch accelerate encoding time about 10%. Why not include in 1.1.2?

This is release 1.0-rc1 of Wine, a free implementation of Windows on Unix.
This is the first release candidate for Wine 1.0. Please give it a

please help us look for apps that used to work, but don't now. See

Stepwise logistic discrimination - II
I apologise for writing again about the problem with using stepAIC +
multinom, but I think the reason why I had it in the first place is
perhaps there may be a bug in either stepAIC or multinom.
Just to repeat the problem, I have 126 variables and 99 cases. I don't
know if the large number of variables could be the problem. Of couse the
reason for doing a stepwise method is to reduce this

smbd startup error
Re problem with libldap.a running Samba 3.x.x.x under AIX 5.1:
I have found that Samba 3.0.0 & 3.0.4 & 3.0.10 all fail; with the same
error on a p-series 615.
I did get 3.0.0 running on a 7025-F40 using :
LIBPATH=/usr/local/lib /usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd -D -s
/usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf
to force aix 5.1 to use the Samba /usr/local/lib/libiconv.a.

zpool kernel panics.
Hi Folks,
I''ve got a 3.9 Tb zpool, and it is casing kernel panics on my Solaris
10 280r (SPARC) server.
The message I get on panic is this:
panic[cpu1]/thread=2a100a95cc0: zfs: freeing free segment
(offset=423713792 size=1024)
This seems to come about when the zpool is being used or being
scrubbed - about twice a day at the moment. After the reboot, the
scrub seems to have
