Silent Hunter 4 1.5 on MacOS X/Wine 1.2-rc2
Hello all, I tried to run SH4 1.5 on my Mac (MacOS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard) but it crashes even before the menus can be displayed because of some unimplemented D3DX call (D3DXCreateTextureFromFileExA) in D3DX9_36.dll. I used Wine version 1.2-rc2. According to the AppDB, several persons who ran it on Linux got the menus working. How is it possible that running SH4 on Linux doesn't trigger

MacOS X cocoa and carbon for Linux?
Do you know about such implementation of the Mac OS API for Linux ? I was thinking would this be hard to be done ? Having in mind that the MacOS and Linux OSes have much more in common than Linux and Windows. The benefits of such projects will be great , as there is great diversity of applications for MacOS ,and if they can be used native in Linux there will be great advantage for all Linux users.

R 1.2.3 for MacOS/X available
From release 1.2.3, R can run different Macintosh platforms. Two versions are currently available that are non concurrent. One version runs on MacOS Systems from 8.6 to 9.1 and MacOSX using the standard MacOS/MacOSX interface, that means that is behaves like any usual Macintosh application. (This is mantained by Stefano M. Iacus) The other version is a Darwin/X11 that means a Unix-like

MacOS X: update.packages(type="mac.binary") fails (PR#7831)
Full_Name: Jari Oksanen Version: R 2.1.0 OS: MacOS 10.3.9 Submission from: (NULL) (130.231.102.145) For various reasons (which need not be expanded here) I have tried to update my long neglected R in MacOS X using handy command line tool update.packages() using readily available binaries of contributed packages at CRAN. However, this fails with message saying that packages xxxx_*_tar.gz is not

Extended attributes in MacOS X
I've written a patch to 2.6.8 which adds extended attribute support to rsync. This is not like the plethora of patches which try to separate osx meta-data into a special appledouble file (._filename). Instead, it builds on patches/xattr.patch and just adds support for the MacOS equivalent. The good news: 1. It works fine locally and to a remote mac 2. It also preserves the finder

MacOS X binaries won't install
I've tried installing the MacOS X binaries for R available at: http://www.bioconductor.org/CRAN/ I'm running MacOS X version 10.2.8. I get a message indicating the installation is successful, but when I double-click on the R icon that shows up in my Applications folder, the application seems to try to open but closes immediately. I looked for /Library/Frameworks/R.framework (by

MacOS X: update.packages(type="mac.binary") fails (PR#7836)
Message 2 of today: it works now. After re-installing R.app from the same R-2.1.0.dmg file, and fixInNamespace'ing(*) install.packages(), I managed to update 23 outdated packages from CRAN binaries for MacOS X. What I did was to: 1. change call to .install.macbinaries() into call to install.binaries() in install.packages(). install.binaries() is a function defined utils/R/aqua/GUI.R. 2. I

Support for macOS feth devices
Hi, I am currently using the L2 tunnel feature of ssh between two Linux machines, and it works beautifully! As a result, I have come to prefer a workflow that uses an L2 tunnel, but I can't seem to find a long-term solution for this workflow on macOS. At the moment, tap devices on macOS can be generated using a kernel extension like tuntaposx <http://tuntaposx.sourceforge.net/>;

MacOS X binary for lme4 not available on CRAN
Dear group, I have noticed that the MacOS X binary for lme4 is not available on CRAN at the moment. I am aware that it may be possible to install from source but I am not very familiar with that procedure and would rather avoid it. But I need the package for a statistics course next week. So can anybody give an update about the situation with the MacOS X binaries? Will it be resolved within the

MacOS X: update.packages(type="mac.binary") fails (PR#7834)
Dear Mr Moderator, please let me through. I want to reply to my own thread. I once subscribed to this list, but then my subscription was not accepted. Now to the business: The final failure came from missing .install.macbinary() function. I grepped R-patched sourcesand the only instance of .install.macbinary() was the call to the function in R- patched/src/library/utils/R/packages2.R (stupid

CRAN: MacOS X binary: not available, see check log?
For a couple of days, MacOS X binaries are not build on CRAN (for my recently uploaded packages only?): The R.oo package is listed as "MacOS X binary: not available, see check log?", but the 'check log' show no errors URL: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/R.oo/ Is this a known issue? /Henrik

File xfer speed issues with MacOS X 10.2 and 10.3
Hi all, I have a mixed environment of Windows 2000, XP, Linux, and MacOS X clients connecting to various Samba servers. Our network is 100Mbit switched ethernet. Originally, we were using samba 2.2.8a, with the socket options of TCP_NODELAY SO_SNDBUF=4096 SO_RCVBUF=4096. However, the MacOS X clients (which were added after the initial setup and testing), had horrible file xfer performance;

Tinc on MacOs X
My intention is to set up tinc so that I can connect from home to an office network. All CPUs are running MacOs X, 10.2.8 or 10.3.5. I have read the tinc manual, tincd.8 and tinc.conf.5. However, I am still unclear about a few issues. First and foremost, how to I setup the VPN interfaces on the hosts, on MacOs X? Which file do I have to alter and what is the exact syntax on Os X to setup

OT: screencast Editor for MacOs X?
Hi all, On MacOS, we have SnapZ Pro to RECORD screencasts. Is there a comfortable - *1 - screencast Editor, like CamTasia on Windows? At the very minimum I want to cut parts of the movies, insert "slides" and superpose drawings (frames, arrows, ..) or text? Alain *1 : not FinalCut, obviously. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

I have installed Wine 1.1.9 on a PC running openSUSE 11.1. Apparently, all seems ok, I can run winefile, regedit, winecfg. I have installed an application which makes use of an USB port. pl/R and MacOS X using R binary
I'm sorry if this is too off-topic--feel free to ignore. I am interested in using pl/R, an amazing "plugin" for the postgresql database. As is typical of these types of applications, pl/R needs to link against a shared library. However, it appears that the MacOS R binary does not build a static (.so) shared library. Is there an accepted, general way (read, a way that works)
