undefined method stupidity
I put some code in a before_save callback in the model file to alter
some fields that have dependencies in the DB.
I''d like to call a method in the controller file but I continually get
undefined method errors. I have specified Controller::methodname as well
to no avail. What am I missing?

two lines in axis title combined with 'substitute' command
Hello,
I want to have the x-axis title of my plot in 2 lines, centered:
experiment 1:
log2(Ratio H/L)
I know that in principle that works with '\n'. However, I am also using the 'substitute' command for my axis title. However, it does not make a new line.
What I have so far:
logbase <- 2
test <- "bait"
cellline <- "cellline"

nlme for groupedData with inner and outer factors
Hello,
I am having trouble specifying a suitable nlme model.
My data structure is described by
gd <- groupedData(ppath ~ lcut | exp, outer = ~ bait, inner = ~ weight, data
= d)
i.e. the response (ppath) of several subjects (sub) was measured at levels
of a continuous variable (lcut). Subjects were given either of one level of
a factor (bait), and all subjects were measured at two levels

please block user
In consequence of this thread I went looking for a probe script that
would send individualized email messages to each subscriber of a
mailman list and found none. Does such a thing in fact exist?
It seems to me that this would be an invaluable tool in tracking down
which subscriber is the bot-bait.

removing data randomly based on previous observations
Hello,
I have a dataset which contains multiple trap pulls over the course of a
fishing season. Each trap was baited and then returned to the water to be
pulled again. I am trying to remove that bait from the catch observed on
the next pull (the bait is the same as the catch, lobster). The traps have
been baited differently throughout the season.
I would like to randomly remove two lobsters

Today, I would prefer Let?s Encrypt:
https://letsencrypt.org/
It is philosophically aligned with the open source software world, rather than act as bait

Language element manipulation
I am very confused about this. I want to convert a string to a name so I can
use it to extract an element of a data frame using `$'. Here is my
(non-working) code:
do.graph <- function (meas)
{
fn <- paste("a", meas, ".dat", sep='')
themeas <- read.table(fn, header=F)
ameas <- as.name(paste("a", meas, sep=''))

Suggestion: `before_save on: :create` should either work or raise an exception
There''s a small inconsistency in ActiveRecord''s callback syntax that has
tripped me up before. It wouldn''t be a big deal, but it can lead to a
silent failure. I''d like to suggest that it either be made consistent or be
made to fail loudly.
The issue is that to do something before validating, but only when
creating, you use `before_validation on: :create`,
