Kerry/Edwards campaign and VOIP
I am trying find a way to help the local Kerry campaign and it occurs to me that VOIP and Asterisk could be a big help. I have never worked on a presidential campaign before but I think they must be very telephone call intensive. Using VOIP to connect local, regional and national campaign offices and to keep volunteers in touch with each other would save lots of money that could be spent on

creating a development db from existing db
Hi there, I would like to copy the schema and data from an existing database and create a development db with the schema and data. Is this possible? - I have heard of doing a ''schema dump'', what about a data dump. The data in the existing db is important - I worry that doing something could delete the data. Is this fear unfounded? Chris. -- Posted via

Upgrade from Samba 1.9.18p4 to 2.2.8a
I need to upgrade from this ancient version of Samba running on Solaris 2.6 to the latest and greatest, but I've run into a snag that I don't know how to over come, or that it is even possible in the current version, so I'm hoping that there is a workable solution. In the current configuration all the samba shares are accessible without a password, and as a matter of fact there

Dual Opteron or Dual Xeon?
I am about to lease another server to be a backup web/mail server with a replicated mysql database. The current live server is a dual Xeon 2.8Ghz. Would I do better to get another Xeon server or an Opteron based server? My concerns are compatibility of the database and the SSL certificate currently running on the Xeon machine. Are these concerns unfounded? TIA Mike

Cross compiling from Linux to Win32
Hi all, I have just commited a couple of small fixes [0] to allow libogg to be compiled using the MinGW cross compile tools on Linux to generate Win32 binaries (include a DLL) and run the tests under Wine (the windows emulator). On Ubuntu (or Debian) do you will need to install the following: apt-get mingw32 mingw32-binutils mingw32-runtime wine To configure and build do: ./configure

how to skip NA columns ?
R-helpers! na.omit() can be used to remove rows with NA's but how can I remove columns ? and remember, which columns have been removed ? I guess I can do t(na.omit(t(o))) as shown below, but this probably creates a lot of overhead and I do not know which columns have been removed. documentation of snapshots
I am looking for documentation on handling snapshots. The main tasks are: 1. Create a snapshot 2. Roll back a snapshot 3. Merge the snapshot into the base to start the cycle over. Currently I've done steps 1 and 2 into a single qcow2 image. I'm running a relatively old version of libvirtd on CentOS 5, libvirt-0.8.2-29.el5_9.1. Thanks. Bill -- INTERNET: bill at

Traffic shaping with Powerboost
For those of you in the US using Comcast as your ISP, you''ll know that they now have a feature called Powerboost available in the regions they serve. Basically, it allows people to have higher-than-rated throughput for the first few minutes of data transfer. After those few minutes, they''re supposed to throttle back down to what their rated line speed is. I''m having

Step between --dry-run and running?
Hi, Is there either a step, or a recipe for a step between --dry-run and actually running? In a particular instance, --dry-run isn't enough. I want to actually attempt to read the entire file in, but then write it out to nowhere. I'm trying to see if it generates any disk errors that may hurt during an actual transfer. I realize 2 minutes later I could do the read again for the real

Can you put that information in a README file inside libogg? I think it'd be useful. Cheers, Silvia.
