[GIT PULL] elflink warning fixes and auto extension support
Hi, I just pushed out changes that fix pretty much all the compiler build warnings on the elflink branch. Also, I've added "auto extension" support so that if the user doesn't type the file name extension it will automatically be looked up, e.g. now typing "ls" will execute "ls.c32". The following changes since commit

[GIT PULL] elflink bug fixes
Hi Peter, Please pull the following changes. Paulo, I had to revert your "pxe: resolve names via DNS from protected-mode code" change because dns_resolv() is only implemented for PXELINUX and causes undefined symbol references for ISOLINUX, etc. Feel free to make the change again on top of the revert. The following changes since commit e7bd19def830e8341b1a100956345f1028740b9e:

[GIT PULL] elflink fixes
Hi Peter, The main part of this pull request includes commits that try to replace as many __intcall() invocations as possible. Some remain, but not many (and eventually they'll be gone too). There's also a patch to make better use of ld's --as-needed option and various other bug fixes/cleanups. The following changes since commit ff7334a2ce536b7f4b1f6d6f93ff4e285a3bd45a: Only

[GIT-PULL] Elflink fixes
The first two patches basically fix two warnings, and the last one avoid compiling the whole core in Syslinux with debug enabled by default that was accidently added in commit 72842b6 I presume. Hi Matt, Please consider pulling too. Paulo The following changes since commit 1f822f83b3d757c9a72f1eb99ebd723ee61e625b: Fix Makefile install targets (2012-07-04 11:21:19 +0100) are available in

[GIT PULL] elflink ldlinux
Hi, These patches contain support for some features that are already in Syslinux 4 but weren't working properly on the elflink branch. It's another step closer to feature parity with Syslinux 4. Having to jump through the comboot API for localboot support is less than ideal and I'll eventually fix that, probably when we move a big chunk of code from asm to C. Also, there's a

[patch rfc wip] first cut of ELF bzImage
I started with Vivek's ELF bzImage patch from Oct last year, mashed it to apply to hpa's new setup/boot code. This patch does a couple of things, which would probably be better split into multiple patches: 1. Glue an ELF header onto the front of bzImage. This is a real ELF header at the front of the file. Breaks akpm's laptop, apparently, but it works for me. 2.

PATCH: Handle virtual entry point in mboot.c32
Hi, This patch ensures that mboot.c32 will always jump to a physical address when loading a Multiboot kernel. Some kernels are linked with a virtual entry point and without this patch these kernels are unbootable. Hope this helps, Matthew --- a/com32/modules/mboot.c 2009-04-03 09:48:08.000000000 +1000 +++ b/com32/modules/mboot.c 2009-04-03 09:48:16.000000000 +1000 @@ -650,6 +650,13 @@ static

[PATCH 0/2] Use a single loader for i386 and x86_64
This patch moves lguest.c one level bellow, and enhances it with the ability to kick off 64 binaries. It would be much easier to just ifdef functions, but I have x86_64 machines loading 32-bit kernels as a longer goal, and that's why the patch features the load_elf_header() function. [PATCH 0/5] Deleting __intcall() from Syslinux
From: Matt Fleming <matt.fleming at intel.com> Since we can't use __intcall() for EFI, and since we can now have the ELF module code resolve all our symbols at runtime, we should delete as many references to __intcall() as possible and just access the symbols directly. The most interesting patch is the support for weak symbols. We need to be able to reference derivative-specific

[PATCH] Extend Multiboot1 with support for ELF64 file format
This patch is just a (shameless) copy from bug #28 [1]. The original patch has been sitting there for a couple of years now, and it was based on Syslinux v 4.05. The patch I am posting here is just a re-base on v.6.03. Whichever inadequate formatting (tabs, trailing spaces...), or any kind of correction that was required for the original patch to be accepted, is probably still required now.

Question about wine 0.9.2 and VideoLan Media Client
Hi! I just installed wine 0.9.2 on my Linux system and tried installing VLC 0.8.4 for Windows: http://www.videolan.org/ The installer ran fine and VLC even started! I was able to open a WMV file but when it started playing back, it crashed: ----------------START---------------------- tom@linux:~$ wine vlc-0.8.4-win32.exe fixme:win:SetWindowTextA setting text "VideoLAN VLC media

[PATCH 2/2] core: Fix stack overflow when reloading config
From: Sylvain Gault <sylvain.gault at gmail.com> The behavior when running a "CONFIG" command line is to reload ldlinux.c32 with the new file as argument. This call never return. In order to avoid stacking up the calls to start_ldlinux, this patch introduce a setjmp/longjmp to return to the first call to start_ldlinux, thus freeing all the stack space. Signed-off-by: Sylvain

context switch
In debugging the sles9 port on 64 bit MP machines, I am seeing a problem where the hypervisor takes a fault in loading fs in the context switch code (load_segments()). The selector is one of the TLS selectors. It appears that the cpu in question has updated this selector with a value of 0 just prior to the problem I am seeing. Looking at the Linux context switch code, we first update the TLS
