Help on setting up a PVM
I''m going to set up a PVM on xen-3.3.1 debian-amd64. I need advices
about the best methods to install a fresh debian on it (i.e. how to
choose the kernel for pvm) . I''ve installed xen from sources and only
have one xen kernel in /boot which I''m using for dom0; should I use
the same kernel for domUs?
There is any problem on use vcpus=2; the other vm is an hvm running

Network slowdown
Hello,
I''m not subscribed to this list, but would like to ask a question.
When I conduct a network speed test from the following location
http://www.timewarnerla.com/speedtest/speedtest.asp with firewall started I
get no more than 1 Mbps at best, while without one I get 4 Mbps.
I have a RCA DCM325 cable modem from RoadRunner.
I''m using Shorewall 2.2.0-Beta3.
My OS is SuSe 9.1

Paravirtualised drivers for fully virtualised domains
(The list appears to have eaten my previous attempt to send this.
Apologies if you receive multiple copies.)
The attached patches allow you to use paravirtualised network and
block interfaces from fully virtualised domains, based on Intel''s
patches from a few months ago. These are significantly faster than
the equivalent ioemu devices, sometimes by more than an order of
magnitude.

Unable to utilize past 1 gbps
I don't know if any such limitation exists, but maxing out just shy of 1Gbps sounds a bit more like an interface's line speed limited/set to 1Gbps somewhere in your production chain? You wrote that you have tested the bw - what did you use? Iperf? Speedtest?Maybe consider scaling with additional Icecast servers and use a load balancer in front? And then just scale accordingly? This sounds

Samba Tuning to increase Throughput
Hi All,
I have gone through threads related to throughput issue in this list. Found few
similar issue, but could not get the solution.
So looking for some advice from group.
I am trying to use the samba to access a USB disk connected to our evaluation
board which has xtensa core running at 400 MHz.
Samba 3.5.x is running on the board. We are getting below throughput as tested

multiple vlan in dom0 and domu
Hello,
I use a script network-multi vlan and network-bridge-vlan for multiple
VLANs in domu.
Several domu uses the bridge vlanbr30. Need to dom0 as was in this
vlan''e. How? I tried to put a bridge interface ip, but with him until
the rest domu in vlanbr30 not get through. How to understand the need to
create a virtual interface (vifx.y) and add it to the bridge vlanbr30. How?

domU has a better networking than dom0
I am using a 2.6.35 domU guest on a 2.6.32 dom0 and a 4.0.1 Xen
hypervisor. Using netperf with UDP_RR I get 1819 and 622 transaction
per second for domU and dom0 respectively, but in UDP_STREAM test domU
is showing a better throughput for all packet sizes (on average around
3Mbps better, on a 10/100 network with around 96Mbps average native
throuput). Is it normal or I am missing something?

Unable to utilize past 1 gbps
Dear Marius,
Our station is Megadanceradio in Hungary.
Our status page for the master server is:
http://45.67.158.93:8000/status.xsl For the slave:
http://45.67.158.94:8000/status.xsl
We are peaking at around 11.00 am and 13.00 pm in the afternoon.
We have tested extensively the bandwith with speedtest. We tried with iperf
but that did not finish for a long time so we stopped it.

Multichannel working at half speed with 2x NICs
Similar to another thread that was posted recently (archive:

Monitoring network traffic to a host
Background - I am having an issue with occassional pauses when streaming
high-bitrate media across my home network to my smart TV. I *suspect*
that the root cause is the (incredibly lame) 100 Mbps Ethernet interface
in the TV.
In order to confirm that the peak bitrate really does max out the 100
Mbps connection, I'd like to monitor the communication between my NAS
and the TV. The two

Unable to utilize past 1 gbps
Dear Marius,
In addition to that attached please find a screenshot from Proxmox on
statistics.
Do you know any ice cast servers that puts out more than 1 gbps for a
longer period? Just curious whether anyone was able to go beyond 1 gbps for
an extensive time.
Thank you!
Best,
Zsolt

32 seconds vs 72 minutes -- expected performance difference?
## QUESTION
I am sharing a 120GB folder with lots of files via Samba on a LAN (1Gbps
connection).
1) Doing an `ls -lR` on the server (on this folder) takes ~32 seconds,
compared with **72 minutes** on the client. Is this difference in
performance expected (due to network and protocol overhead)?
2) While the client is executing an `ls -lR`, one smbd process on the
server uses about 30-40% of a

Unable to utilize past 1 gbps
Hi Zsolt,
looking at the metrics from Proxmox it doesn't look like anything breaks
there. What about at the operating system level? Could there be some
limits there? Have you checked corresponding kernel or system logs?
Which OS/distribution are you using? Checked the logs there? If nothing
screams there, maybe start looking at a load balancer and scale with
several more VMs?

DomU to DomU throughput issue
Hi
Is there anyone who has successfully resolved the low throughput problem in Guest communication.
I am using Xen3.4.1 with PV os kernel 2.6.30-rc6-tip On fedora11. While running netperf benchmark on guests throughput results are very low
DomU to DomU 0.29 Mbps
Why is it so? What would be the problem. Is there any issue with fc11 platform?

GS BT102 dual ethernet port -bandwidth impact
FYI for anyone using the dual ethernet ports on a Grandstream BT102.
I'm using a BT102 connected to an HP2524 10/100 switch, which has an
asterisk box connected directly to it. No VLANs defined or in use.
Measured bandwidth:
PC -> HP Switch -> Asterisk : actual throughput measured at 94.1 mbps.
PC -> BT102 -> HP Switch -> Asterisk : actual measured at 8.86 mbps.
