XFCE-4.4, Samba shares, Beryl
Hi,
I have CentOS 5 with the XFCE-4.4 window manager installed. (BTW, I've
tried many XFCE-centered distros before, and CentOS offers by far the
cleanest implementation).
Two questions for that.
1) I've seen various HOWTO's about how to display Samba shares with the
Thunar file manager. Did anyone manage to do this with CentOS?
2) Is there some HOWTO about configuring that nice

Samba 3.0.0.-2 logon script not running!
Help
..
I've struggled with this for a few weeks and can't get anywhere. I'd like for someone to point me in the right
direction, if possible.
I have laid out below my complete samba setting in the hope that
1) Someone can find a solution to my current problem
2) It might help someone else, as I overcame a few problems with these settings myself, under samba 2.2.8a.. please note

DFS symlinks shown as broken through file management software.
I have setup a samba dfs server and file managers on linux only see
broken symlinks. Is there a linux file managers that can handle the dfs
symlinks correctly?
So far I tried thunar, nautilus and Gnome commander. All is failing with
the dfs symlinks.
Commandline navigation seems to work fine through mounted volume and
windows clients can navigate around the shared volume with explorer

Differentiating Video from Audio
I am trying to write a "thumbnailer" for the thunar file manager that
can process .ogg files containing a video stream and produce a thumbnail
of a particular frame. The only trouble is telling which files have a
video stream in an efficient method. The best I've come up with is
running ogginfo on every file with the mimetype application/ogg.
Is there a better method?
I know

Is Samba Shadowcopying can be used in Production Environement with more than 20 TB of data
Hi Friends,
I am currently using Samba on Centos 4.4 as a domain member of AD 2003 with
each user having a quota of 2GB(no of users is around 2,000). Now
the management wants to increase the quota to 10GB with this there will be
more than 20TB of data to be backup weekly which will take lots of hours.
Currently Veritas backup software is used to backup data on tapes. There is
a concept of

Is there a graphical tool for specifying network shares for modern
