workgroup drive mapping
Hi All, I have samba serving homes and group shares in my workgroup. 30% of client systems are portables and spend >50% of their time off site. Others are fixed single user workstations. I have no need to operate a domain, however what options do I have to simplify mapping drives once local network or VPN access is restored. Is there some logon script type stuff I can use just for the

IMAP, Shared folders, symlinks and permissions
Greetings Using FC7, dovecot-1.0.3-6.fc6 and maildir I have a recurring problem with permissions. We have a (real) account on the system called "custs". Within the email account for custs there exists some 300 folders, one for each customer. This worked okay originally with mbox. Everyone had access to their own email folders and they all had access to the "custs"

SuSe 9.1 startup issue
Tom, I am NOT subscribed (yet). I dropped SuSeFirewall2 in favor of shorewall to get past the configuration hurdles I as experiencing. At the moment, when my SuSe 9.1 starts up, I can see shorewall processing the rules, policies, etc. and I see no errors and then moves on with the rest of the SuSe boot process . However, no traffic passes through using the rules. I run an iptables -L and I

why are qemu-img and vhd-util created files incompatible?
I was wondering if someone can shed some light on why vhd files created with qemu-img don''t really work right with vhd-util and consequentially blktap in general. To validate the incompatiblity its simple enough to do qemu-img create -f vpc test.vhd 40g vhd-util snapshot -n child.vhd -p test.vhd Which will show the below and then the headers don''t display the BATMAP summary:

need help with public namespaces
Hello, I need some guidance with setting up a public namespace with per-user \Seen flags. What I want to do is that a group of users access the public namespaces and if user A reads a message, user B should still see it as new until he reads it himself. This is not happening now, and I can't figure out why. Here's the config: # 1.2.9: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux

Distributed indexes, maildir_copy_preserve_filename, and Microsoft
Hi, I've just completed a migration from Courier to a Dovecot 1.0.7 (patched RHE 5) which is working great, except for this weirdness of an issue that is impacting a handful of users. My question is that will turning off maildir_copy_preserve_filename help or hurt in a situation where there are multiple servers with their own local INDEX files (uidlist is shared)? The problem is that a

Urgent - R help - Multivariate - Naive Bayes code for R
Friends, I am doing a URL classification, based on certain key words whether it contains an executive information or not. I have already went through 50K URL's and identified the key words and made it as 0, 1 ( 0 - do not have the key word and 1 - have the key word) and 0- do not contain executive information 1 - contains executive information. A sample set of data is shown below. DomainID

Support for oracle_home yet?
Hi - I thought I saw someplace on one of the oracle pages that ocfs now supported the install of oracle_home's. Can anyone verify this ? If so - are there any limitations or things I should know? libxl device_disk_add orphans blktap devices on transaction error
I''m using the CentOS 6 bundle of xen from http://dev.centos.org/centos/6/xen-c6/ and ran into an issue when creating domains with multiple VHD tap disks. Comparing unstable to the 4.2.1 code I''m using, it seems this issue still applies. I''m using a configuration line that looks something like disk = [

Just curious. There seems to be an awful lot in the source, but no actual configure option. Please advise. -- Austin Gonyou Systems Architect, CCNA Coremetrics, Inc. some Maildir files not honoring dovecot-shared
I'm using RC15 on Solaris 9. The wiki indicates that when a dovecot-shared file exists, "Dovecot uses the same permissions and GID when it creates index files, dovecot-uidlist file, new mail files, etc." In my case, Dovecot *is* creating new index files based on dovecot-shared, but dovecot-uidlist and individual message files don't completely match the permissions/group

dovecot: child 53439 (imap) killed with signal 11
For quite some time I have seen dovecot imap exit with a sig11 without any other error message, but usually with the frequency of between once per week and once per day (per server). A few weeks ago I finally enabled core dumping with debug symbols and it seemed to happen less often. I finally caught a coredump that wasn't overwritten. I have no idea what on the client end may cause it,

1.2.11 nfs_flush_file_handle_cache_dir problems
Hi chaps We're using the mbox_snarf plugin to snarf mail from /var/mail/%U to ~%U/Mail/inbox and using dotlocking on all accesses. This is on Solaris with NFS mounted home directories. We're getting a few (very few) of these for just a couple of users: Error: nfs_flush_file_handle_cache_dir: rmdir(/var/mail) failed: Device busy Which, having searched, I see some discussion of in the
