Authenticating dovecot against Active Directory using bsdauth and login_ldap
All,
I'm working in a multi-platform environment where user accounts are
already held in Active Directory. I'm been trying to setup dovecot to
perform user authentication against Active Directory using ldap.
My Environment is:
Platform OpenBSD 3.9
Dovecot Version 1.0.rc7
Active Directory Windows 2003
The approach I've taken (being the only one I was able to

LDAP authentication stops working...
Hi all,
I'm running dovecot-1.0.rc17 on OpenBSD 3.9, using userdb and passdb
methods of "ldap" (SSL on 636/tcp) in addition to "passwd".
Occasionally (generally after a few hours of operation, but not always),
LDAP-based logins stop working (e.g. hang/timeout after POP3 PASS
command). Accounts with local passwords (as opposed to accounts with a
password field of

Big problems after upgrade from beta8 (FC5) to rc21

--log-error and the mysterious "not starting" problem
I've finally upgraded to 1.0.rc21. If I run "dovecot --log-error", then
dovecot fails to start. The following appears in the log:
Feb 5 10:54:00 taurus1 dovecot: Dovecot v1.0.rc21 starting up
Feb 5 10:54:00 taurus1 dovecot: This is Dovecot's error log
Without --log-error, it will start up fine from command-line.
Dovecot still fails to start, as near as I can tell, in the

Dsync replication with LDAP and auth_bind=yes
Hello,
I have working dovecot configuration with LDAP based authentication in
Active Directory.
I'd like to use dsync replication but dovecot can't do user lookups.
Is it possible to configure replication in such architecture?
doveadm user '*'
Returns only one local dovecot user.

Openbsd Postfix-Dovecot-SASL
Greetings all,
I have a OpenBSD /Dovecot server at home running and sending / receiving
email "internally" without issue..
Recently, I set up the same at our Parish, but one of our users wants to get
their email externally.
The user can read their email but has to "send" via the local ISP server..
The problem
After much searching I have not found an answer to my question.

LDAP Auth problems with auth_bind=yes
Hi,
I first posted this problem a day or two ago and have not seen any
responses yet.
To clarify my problem, I am authenticating virtual users against Active
Directory on Win2k3, where their login id is their email address. I am
using an almost identical setup to Suranga's below, however my initial
bind user doesn't have access to the userPassword attribute, so I am
using:

BSD Auth: set child environment variables requested by login script [PATCH]
Hello,
in the BSD Authentication system the login script can request environment
variables to be set/unset. The call to auth_close() in auth-passwd.c does
change the current environment, but those changes are lost for the child
environment.
It would be really useful to add some kind of mechanism to get
those changes into the child environment. I've added two possible
solutions. Both

Warnings compiling on OpenBSD 4.4 i386
Hi,
probably just nothing to worry about, but I get the following warnings
when building 1.1.7 on OpenBSD 4.4 on i386. If I remove the
--with-bsdauth config option, they all disappear. I won't use it anyway,
but maybe there are others.

incorrect quota reporting with dict quota
Using the dict quota with dovecot-1.0.rc21, quota reporting was
incorrect. It wasn't just that the stored quota was different than the
disk usage, but also that each time the quota was checked, it was
greater than before, even if no mail was received. I tested this by
using telnet to log into an imap account, and issuing multiple
"getquotaroot inbox" commands.

help needed - dovecot-ldap authentication
I am trying to set a up mail server on a ubuntu edgy machine. I followed the
howto at http://wanderingbarque.com/howtos/mailserver/mailserver.html .
I am able to configure everything except dovecot-ldap authentication :(.
After struggling with it for a week I decided to seek help.
The current version of dovecot is v1.0 RC21 and the version used for the
howto is v0.99.10.9. I installed &
