1.0.rc20 released

http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.rc20.tar.gz.sig
So, rc19 was somewhat broken. How about this version?
+ dovecot: Added --log-error command line option to log an error, so
the error log is easily found.
+ Added mail_log_max_lines_per_sec setting. Change it to avoid log
throttling with mail_log plugin.

LDAP auth_bind=yes in rc21 = goodness
Hi all,
I finally got a chance to try out the fix for the LDAP auth_bind=yes
issues in production (using rc21). It seems to be working just fine even
after 24 hours of severe abuse.
Incidentally, I had switched to bsdauth+login_ldap (on OpenBSD) which was
often OK, but occasionally I would see Postfix smtpd throttled with SASL
errors due to "connection refused" on the Dovecot

--log-error and the mysterious "not starting" problem
I've finally upgraded to 1.0.rc21. If I run "dovecot --log-error", then
dovecot fails to start. The following appears in the log:
Feb 5 10:54:00 taurus1 dovecot: Dovecot v1.0.rc21 starting up
Feb 5 10:54:00 taurus1 dovecot: This is Dovecot's error log
Without --log-error, it will start up fine from command-line.
Dovecot still fails to start, as near as I can tell, in the

incorrect quota reporting with dict quota
Using the dict quota with dovecot-1.0.rc21, quota reporting was
incorrect. It wasn't just that the stored quota was different than the
disk usage, but also that each time the quota was checked, it was
greater than before, even if no mail was received. I tested this by
using telnet to log into an imap account, and issuing multiple
"getquotaroot inbox" commands.

help needed - dovecot-ldap authentication
I am trying to set a up mail server on a ubuntu edgy machine. I followed the
howto at http://wanderingbarque.com/howtos/mailserver/mailserver.html .
I am able to configure everything except dovecot-ldap authentication :(.
After struggling with it for a week I decided to seek help.
The current version of dovecot is v1.0 RC21 and the version used for the
howto is v0.99.10.9. I installed &

RHN-like system for CentOS?
Team,
Is anyone aware of a Red Hat Network alike system of server package
update status that could be adapted for CentOS3? I'm not interested in
the complete management aspect (channels, scheduling remote updates,
etc) but merely the ability to see your list of systems and determine
which are out of date with XXX packages. If you happen to manage a
large-ish number of RHES3 systems, you

4 Final, RC1 -> Final?
Build team -- what's our current outlook on the 4 Final release shaping
up to be (ie, this week, next week, a month..)? Should it be further
out, would it be relatively painless to 'upgrade' (so to speak) from the
current RC1 to Final when it rolls around?
thanks!

Public kudos to Timo
I'm sitting here working away on various unrelated projects and watching
patch after patch after patch flow in from Timo to fix all sorts of
problems people are reporting. A coding madman on fire.
Thanks Timo, you rock. I appreciate the time you spend on this software,
I'm sure everyone else does as well. :)

Apologies if this is an <=rc19 thing, but am waiting for rc24 to come into
Debian unstable/testing before upgrading.

broken state. Mail client (Outlook express) reported "unable to read message

umask not applied
Hi all!
I am trying to get dovecot-1.0.rc15 to create files with mode 660 in
my virtual mailboxes. I set umask=0007 in dovecot.conf, restarted
dovecot (/etc/init.d/dovecot restart) and send me an e-mail but it is
still 600.
"dovecot -n" says "umask: 7" How come the zeros are not displayed? Is
this by intention or is something wrong?
Here is the complete output:

Thunderbird or Dovecot bug? (multiple keywords)
Here's a strange one. I have a user who's using Thunderbird 2.0.0 and
assigning multiple tags (keywords) to emails, which are getting "lost"
(I'll explain) when he leaves the folder and comes back. I can reproduce
this on *his* account myself, but cannot reproduce it on *my* account
(separate new TBird 2.0.0 profiles on Windows XP).
Use the two TBird default tags
