Dovecot 'suicide'
I have a Dovecot installation on a Fedora 4. With the last update from Dovecot RC10 to Dovecot RC27, the daemon kills itself every night with this error: Mar 17 05:23:11 mail dovecot: Time just moved backwards by 6 seconds. This might cause a lot of problems, so I'll just kill m yself now. The error appears just after the night maintenance script executes a ntpdate syncronization ntpdate

Bug#631102: xen: Xen guests on Squeeze lose networking randomly
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64 Version: 4.0.1-2 Severity: grave File: xen Justification: renders package unusable Debian Squeeze Dom0, up to date. Networking is handled by OS scripts, such that br0 and br1 are bridge interfaces. Without warning, the DomU (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) loses inbound connectivity. It tends to happen after several hours. It doesn't seem to be affected by throughput

New User Issues
I just found RSpec and was trying to do the example on the main page for RSpec (the bowling example). I''m using Ubuntu and did the normal "sudo gem install rspec" and then tried to create the bowling_spec.rb file. When I ran spec bowling_spec.rb, I was missing the cucumber gem, installed that, reran and was missing the hoe gem, installed that, reran and it gave me the a missing

Migration from courierpop3d (younger versions)
Dear list, I am looking for a way to set up dovecot as a successor for courier pop3d, however I am looking for a way to preserve the UIDLs. Any progress on this? I can help out writing a converter if I know where the appropriate specs are. References: [1] http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2006-April/012727.html [2]

*what* to test?
So I dig rspec and BDD, of course. I thought that Dave''s Google Video was a great intro () -- even if it was a bit heavy on theory and a bit loose on the nuts and bolts. But I don''t see anyone sufficiently answering the big question: What do you test? How do you define higher level and lower level behaviors that should have tests written for them?

hunting timeouts
Hi guys, I inherited a Dovecot 1.0.1, which I will have to upgrade, but until then I need, if possible, to resolve a timeout. - we have about 25 IMAP users - the busiest user has about 100 000 messages (Maildir) in less than 100 folders - the mail server is on HP server with server grade 2.5" HDDs in RAID 5 - the load average of the server is low (the 5/15 minute is under 0.20) - the mail

How to add the missing maildir folders
Hi fellow list members, What would be the best way to add the .Sent,.Draft, etc. folders to the maildir tree? It seems not Dovecots task to do that but of the MUA. I have seen several options. Use of skel but that works only for new system users. I have only virtual users preloaded in a database. I've discoverred that ONLY Roundcube add the folders (if configured to do that) but I've

Bug#631102: #631102 and #679533.. related?
Kevin, Would you mind taking a look at #679533 (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=679533) and give some feedback about how similar this issue is to your report in #631102 here? There was a hint 631102 might be similar, but from the text in this bug report it's not clear to me if this is about the same issue. Maybe you could comment on it. First results of a big shoot-out

Hide INBOX prefix on shared mailboxes
Hello List, We've upgraded our Dovecot system from 1.2.4 to 2.0.12. If someone now accesses an inbox of another user at the shared namespace, the folder will be shown as: shared/martin/INBOX The 1.2 installation has shown the folder like shared/martin Is it possible to achieve the "old" behavior? ** Configuration of the namespaces * dovecot 1.2 namespace private

looking at my personal email in /var/vmail/vmail1/dom.tld/voytek at dom.tld/Maildir I have some older dirs prefixed with .INBOX as so: .INBOX.Sent.2010.11 .INBOX.Sent.2010.12 around 30 or so, every other dir, .Sent or otherwise, doesn't have INBOX prefix can I just rename them from terminal to strip .INBOX from dir name..? and, if I do, what else I need to do or is that a bad idea, if

quota for subfolder with prefix=INBOX.
Hi all, We use prefix=INBOX. in order to keep things as they were on the old server. Now I started playing with quota and have trouble getting the additional quota for Trash and/or Junk working. My expectation was that once a user is over quota and moves email to trash sh/e should be able to receive new email again. That's what I cannot get to work with our setup. Attached you find the

MySQL Authentication
Hi all I have this interesting issue. I installed dovecot on FreeBSD 6.1. The install went well. I'm trying to get it to use a mysql database that postfix is already using to authenticate. When I use this in dovecot.conf userdb mysql { args = /usr/local/etc/dovecot/dovecot-mysql.conf } passdb mysql { args = /usr/local/etc/dovecot/dovecot-mysql.conf } I get this

The problem I'm having is with dovecot-lda functioning and making deliveries to my mailbox, but the sieve scripts don't seem to have any effect. Attempts at logging what is/isn't happening have been total failures. Managesieve seems to work fine, port 4190 is open on the

Dovecot proxy: per user/domain 'namespace/inbox/prefix' from MySQL
As a way to try and avoid using "prefix = INBOX." ad infinitum for the inbox namespace, I'm looking for ways to move on to "prefix =" for new mail accounts, and grandfather the existing ones. Previously running Courier-IMAP, now Dovecot, I looked at https://wiki.dovecot.org/Namespaces#Backwards_Compatibility:_Courier_IMAP and decided it's too risky to go down that
