Informing the SSH agent of the target user@server

Requires a modified/bespoke client, of course, but it's definitely a very powerful approach. I'm going to have customized clients in some use cases anyway; I'll have to think about whether I can use this in some cases. > ATM it's hard because ssh

OpenSSH-2.2.0 problem with ssh.com ssh-agent2
The OpenSSH and ssh.com agents use a completely different set of messages for dealing with DSA keys, so I don't expect the OpenSSH client to be able to get DSA keys from ssh-agent2. However, if I'm running "ssh-agent2 -1", I expect OpenSSH to be able to use RSA keys stored in ssh-agent2's agent1 compatibility box. And it does. However, there's a problem. If I'm

Using Pageant & Putty under Wine -
I am having an issue with Putty v.60 with Pageant v.60 under Wine-1.1.5. The OS is Fedora 10 x86_64, and the Wine it the current RPM version for Fedora. It is not that Pageant or Putty is not working; both do load. Putty does talk SSH2 properly. The actual issue is that Keys that are loaded into Pageant v.60 are not available to Putty v.60 for authentication; I suspect that this due to

Setting up TortoiseSVN and PuTTY on Windows for r-forge.r-project.org (Was: Re: Using SVN + SSH on windows)
Here are some notes/observations I've done on my setup that works for me. Hopefully it will be added to some r-forge documentation/wiki. I use: Windows Vista Business SP2 32bit TortoiseSVN 1.6.7 (Build 18415 - 32 Bit , 2010/01/22 17:55:06) PuTTY v0.60 (with Pageant v0.60) I have a deprecated r-forge project ('r-oo') that I will use through out. My r-forge username is

Samba failed to deny Traverse Folder/Execute File
Hi, I am trying to get this Windows ACLs to work on Samba. Basic changes on "Permission for user" done via the "Security" tab seems to map properly to Linux ACLs. But there is a problem when I want to add a special permission to deny file execution when myself or someone doubleclicks on an executable file. The new entry shows up and quickly disappears then. I did look at the

Cygwin/rsync/ssh automation problems
Hey all, I have a problem I can't find a solution for. I am on my third day of testing, researching, planning, and swearing. :) I need to set up a convenient way to synchronize a bunch of data over the network for backups. The server is FreeBSD and the client is Windows. Currently we are using PuTTY, Pageant, and PSCP to SCP the files over SSH. This has various problems which led me to look

ssh-agent in Cygwin?
Hi, We're adding agent support to libssh2 and I'd like to know if the OpenSSH ssh-agent runs also in Cygwin, and if so how it does IPC? Pageant will be supported, but if it makes sense and there is little overhead it would be nice to also cover Cygwin. //Peter

buffer_get_bignum2: negative numbers not supported
Hi I have added smartcard support to PuTTY and this worked fine until yesterday when we replaced one of our Slackware-9 machines by a Slackware-10 one. Slackware-9 contained OpenSSH 3.5p1 while Slackware-10 has OpenSSH 3.8.1p1. Now the same keys that worked before do not work anymore and OpenSSH fails with buffer_get_bignum2: negative numbers not supported I first supected that my

Using SVN + SSH on windows
Hi the list, I try to use R-Forge for developping a projet. I am using tortoise SVN (last version) but I do not manage to Commit. I read the R-Forge user Manual and some post on but I do not manage to find the solution. Here is what I did: 1/ I download 'puttygen.exe'. I generate a key (256 bits). 2/ I save the private key in a file 'private.ppk' on my computer. 3/ I

geo-rep will not initialize
FYI, I will be traveling for the next week, and may not see email much until then. Your questions... RSA Signatures using SHA2 provided by different ssh-agent are not properly verified
Hello, as a follow-up on my mail some time last month where we were facing weird issues when authenticating to new OpenSSH servers, I went down the road to investigate what is really going on there and I found out that even though all the logs in client and server happily say that the SHA2 extension is used, under the hood there is just SHA1. This is because the different agents are ignoring the

CentOS 6.7->6.8, ssh-add issue
Folks, I am perplexed. I updated my workstation at work Wed before I left, from 6.7 to 6.8. Then, yesterday, I went to use ssh-add -s libcoolkeypk11.so, which I've done many times before to add the certs from my PIV card... and 100% of the time if fails, letting me SSH_AGENT_FAILURE, cannot add card. Now, using a script called sccr, which uses my public and private key to generate a

OT: configuring xming to know putty's not in a std. location
Is there some way to do this? I've got the current putty (actually, putty-cac), pageant, and plink in my user's Downlods directory - neither he nor I have admin authority on his laptop, and Desktop support's teleworking today - but I can't seem to find a way to configure xming to look there for putty. Or is it start putty, *then* start xming? mark

How to tunnel Samba via ssh from Windows XP without having to disable local NetBIOS
The most recent discussions I could find on the internet about how to tunnel Samba over ssh were on this list (http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-February/), but no complete answers were given. Here is a near complete answer, which works, pulled together from various sources on the web (which are referenced). Remaining questions are at the end. It is kind of PuTTY-centric, but as far as I
