[fdo] Updated syncmail script for new CVS loginfo syntax
Hi, If you are getting tired of being teased about updating your syncmail script to the new CVS loginfo syntax, this mail is for you. If you have opted to use the CIA script, you have already switched to the new loginfo format. If not, you need to do now. For that you need to add UseNewInfoFmtStrings=yes to the CVS config file. Then if you have script using the old format you can escape it

Web-based shared calendar synchronizable with Outlook
Hi, I know this request is a a little off-topic but may be interesting for dovecot users (at least i hope!) Does anybody has already had an experience with a calendar sharing solution including a webcalendar and an outlook connector, "compatible" with dovecot ? Today, there are many projects aiming to be a "M$ Exchange Killer" (such as Zimbra, OBM, open-exchange, etc) but

RC16 is a lot slower that RC7
I tried RC16 from RC7 and like other releases since RC7 it is significantly slower. I'm still trying to figure out why. But I have again switched back. Do new version take up a lot more ram perhaps? I'm running with a gig of ram, and I'm running a few other apps. It's not a fast computer, just an old 754 pin semptron. But the point is that RC7 runs a lot faster than RC16.

1.0.rc23 tomorrow
http://dovecot.org/nightly/dovecot-latest.tar.gz Would be nice to get some testing before the actual release. I've now finally gone through all the "TODO" mails in this list and my INBOX and fixed pretty much every problem I know of. There are still some mbox bugs, but I can't really get them fixed unless someone figures out how to reproduce them

critical performance problem
I have been using dovecot 1.0alpha4 + deliver/sieve in production for a few accounts (400'000). After testing 1.0.rc22 I decided to upgrade one of the imap servers... And... what a mess ! The server just gets unusable. I don't know why but with new release, it just overloads the system with I/O. It turns that with 1.0.rc22 I get 15Mo/s read on disk average, without any reason. What did

pre-1.0.rc6 / index file problems? try this
People who have had "duplicate header extension" and whatever other random index file corruption problems, please see if this fixes anything: http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot-cvs/2006-December/007315.html The change is also in the latest nightly snapshot (http://dovecot.org/ nightly/dovecot-latest.tar.gz). You could in general treat the latest snapshot as "pretty much the

startup script under FreeBSD 6.2 / dovecot-1.0rc22
Hi all, I recently installed Dovecot rc22 from the FreeBSD ports and I have some problem with the dovecot startup: - If I start dovecot manually, it works fine, it starts and I get messages in /var/log/maillog - If I reboot the machine, that's where the problem appears, dovecot doesn't seem to start and I get nothing, no errors in /var/log/maillog Any idea if this is a known

dovecot-auth file descriptor usage
In dovecot-auth (rc15) we experienced problems when the file descriptors reached 256 (due to a Solaris fdopen() call described previously). The issue was that there was one file descriptor being used for every imap-login and pop3-login process (in our environment of SSL-only that means one for every active IMAP and POP connection). Mods were made (and appear in rc16) to close out the descriptor

(auth) killed with signal 11
Running rc24 and with one user in particular they are getting "(auth) killed with signal 11" when trying to pop email. IMAP works. resilience suggestion
On the whole we are pleased with our trials of dovecot to replace UW-IMAP. But (ah!) we have hit one particular problem, in which we think dovecot could probably benefit from a resilience improvement. We're running dovecot on Fedora Core 5 (FC5), with passwd map details supplied by NIS. We have found that "nscd" sometimes thinks that a username is invalid, even though it is valid.

If the users send the same e-mail to the same recepient using an other

PostLogin Scripting issue
Trying out the post-login scripting Timo added recently. Wanting to run a SQL query, as detailed in the example on the Wiki. However, my "USER" env variable is set to "OK" instead of the username. DOVECOT_VERSION=1.0.rc16 RESTRICT_GID_FIRST=127 USER=OK All the other variables (MAIL, HOME, etc) are fine with the correct username. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks, -c
