Will pay $500 towards a Dovecot feature
10 days ago I proposed this addition (see below) to Dovecot and got a
lot of positive response. I would like to make it happen. I'm willing to
contribute $500 to the development of this feature. It doesn't have to
be implemented perfectly but needs to be workable to the extent that I
can telnet into the Dovecot server and run it manually from the command
line. I want to at least be

After upgrading to 2.31 I'm getting this error. Not sure what I'm doing

Compiling under Fedora Core 4 - Problem
OK - trying to migrate to dovecot and I like what I see so far, but
having a hard time getting it to work. I decided to go with the 1.0
version because I need to get away from the ~/Mail namespace. I'm trying
to port from a Linuxconf virtual WU-IMAP type config.
So - I compiled but then decided I wanted mysql so I tried to
reconfigure and now getting compile errors. Looks like I'm

[OT] MS Exchange Alternative?
Just wondering if there's an open source Linux alternative to MS
Exchange so that all the features of outlook work?

Dovecot blacklist?
Or you can implement a policy server yourself. :)The protocol is not complicated, json over http. See?https://wiki.dovecot.org/Auth/Policy

Dovecot blacklist?
Just wondering if there is an easy way to have dovecot do a blacklist
lookup as a negative authentication so that if the IP is on a blacklist
then authentification fails even if they get the password right.
If this works I have a blacklist everyone can use.

You forgot to cc the list.
ssl_ca is used only for validating client certificates.

Odd Feature Request - RBL blacklist lookup to prevent authentication
I would like to have a list of IPs (hacker list) that I can do a lookup
on so that if anyone tries to authenticate to dovecot they always fail
if they are on my list.
I have the list - and the list is available as a DNS blacklist.
I'd like to have it work with both local IP lists or RBL lookup.
The idea is so hackers from known IP addresses never succeed.
If Dovecot provides the feature

Sending email over IMAP?
I'm advocating for a change in the IMAP specification to allow outgoing
email to be sent over the same connection as incoming rather that having
to separately configure outgoing SMTP email. There are two significant
advantages to this concept.
1) It would greatly simplify setup for clients as they would only have
to configure one connection rather than two.
2) Spam reduction by

Sending email with IMAP instead of SMTP?
Here's a kind of "outside the box" thought.
Why not extend the IMAP protocol to send email? Instead of having to use
SMTP if an addition were made to the IMAP protocol then IMAP could
transport outgoing mail to the server the same way it moves messages to
the server. On the server end Dovecot would deliver outgoing email to
the host MTA via localhost:25.
The advantage would be

Sending email using IMAP
This is something for after the 1.0 release but I think it's important
and I'm going to try to figure out how to make it happen. I'd like to
see some way to pass outgoing email from Thunderbird back to dovecot
through some new command that we would have to make up. Email would be
sent back over the IMAP connection and when Dovecot gets it dovecot
would hand it off to an SMTP

unimplemented parameters for int21, ax=0x440d
I have a game that is not working under wine (it just
seem to hang up with a black screen, though when I try
to close the program, confirmation dialog for quitting
appears). Output solely says it's executing an
interrupt with unimplemented parameters in wine:

New experimental XEXEC plugin status
No to long ago I proposed an experimental extension to the IMAP protocol
to allow IMAP to execute extername server side code and talk to email
plugins to create custom client/server applications over an existing
authenticated IMAP connection. I am happy to say they we have working
code. It's not quite ready to download yet but we do have some life
happening. I have started to document it

Applying a DNS RBL to deny authentication?
Hope to get some attention about this idea to reduce hacking passwords.
Here is a list of about 700,000 IP addresses that are hacking passwords
through SMTP AUTH

This is a list of IP addresses that attempted to authenticate against my

Feature request - umask for index files
I'd like a separate feature for setting umask for index and cache files
differently from email files.
The reason is that I'm putting indexes in a separate location and I need
group create rights in directories. Otherwise what happens is that the
first user creates the directories, but the second user for the domain
that has a different UID gets an error.
