wish now I'd not upgraded...
Upgraded from Debian Dovecot 1.0.15 to Debian Dovecot 1.2.10-1~bpo50+1. I use Postfix local delivery to and Dovecot mbox. As per upgrade directions, I stopped dovecot processes and deleted all dovecot.index.cache files in /home/%user/mail/.imap. Performed upgrade to 1.2.10-1~bpo50+1. Modified new dovecot.conf for my environment. Started dovecot. Problem: Instantly noticed in TB 3.0.1 Win32

Permission for /var/run/dovecot
I have just installed my mail server on a Ubuntu Linux V.7.10 box with sendmail and dovecot imap from the Ubuntu packages. Each time the machines boots, I get the following messages: Starting mail server: dovecotWarning: Fixing permissions of /var/run/dovecot to be world readable Warning: Corrected permissions for login directory /var/run/dovecot/login After the boot the permissions visible

corrupted index?
We're seeing the following sporadically in the log file (single line broken into separate lines for readability): Corrupted index cache file /home/user/mail/.index/.imap/INBOX/dovecot.index.cache: invalid record size We're running dovecot-1.0.7-2.fc8. The imap directory is in the user's NFS-mounted /home directory, but doveot is running on the same host as the /home filesystem.

IMAP only for some users or via webmail
Hello! First, sorry for my English... I'm a newbie with Dovecot and I have some questions, I'm testing Dovecot 1.1.11 in a virtual machine. I wish in the future, migrate this to a real server. Ok, but i need this: 1) A group of users can use IMAP or POP3. 2) The others, only can use POP3. But, this users can use IMAP only with a webmail (the webmail is in the same server that

data retention and e-discovery rules
Hello All, I am in the United States where we have e-discovery rules. Some organizations have to retain data for a certain amount of time, others are required to have a data retention policy. This means that while it should probably be possible for a user to "delete" an email so they do not see it. The server needs to store it, possibly in a tree that mirrors the folder setup of

DKIM Verification failures
Hi, -- This message refers to the maillist itself rather than to dovecot software -- I have noticed that when I post to this list (only), I get DKIM Verification failure reports from: root at moncton.sidefx.com (e.g. for my last post: "DKIM failure report for job 4D27B5DC4E on mail.sidefx.com") root at mail.rmacd.com (e.g. for my last post: "DKIM failure report for job

Migration to multi-dbox and SiS
Dear list, A huge thank-you first of all for all the work that's gone into Dovecot itself. I'm rebuilding a mail server next week and so, taking the rare opportunity to re-consider all the options I've had running over the past couple of years. Around the time of the last re-build (2010), there had been some discussion on single instance storage, which was quite new on Dovecot

DNS SRV
I have added in my zone file; _sip._udp.elmit.com. IN SRV 20 0 5060 vpbx.elmit.com. As I understand it should mean that any sip connection to <anyname>@elmit.com should go to the udp port 5060 at the host vpb.elmit.com. In Asterisk's extensions.conf I have in the context [default] exten => ronald,1,Dial(${PHONE_615},60,tr) exten => ronald,2,Voicemail,u615@office exten =>

Problem with AD DC
Thank you for your reply. This was not a random link I followed. I have reviewed the Samba documentation at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_an_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller, and all the testing that is listed there results in correct and expected answers... I had already noted the /etc/hosts situation, which interestingly does not change the answers I get in testing

Multi ISP, multi address, masq file
I''m planning a multi isp setup and cafully read the documentation. One thing that bothers me is the masq file. The example uses a single ip address on each public interface. I have multiple addresses on both public interfaces (16 on one and 64 on the other). I''m a bit confused about what to put in the masq file in this situation. Any insights would be appreciated. Where is the difference sip.conf - Real-time ?
I have two phones (111 and 112) on a LAN, and I have on a users site a phone 333. phone 111 uses sip.conf, while 112 uses real-time set-up. 111 can call 333 AND the audio is working 112 can call 333 but audio is just white noise. 333 can call 111 or 112 and audio is working. The phones are identically set-up (just user name = phone number and password are different) sip.conf (for 111 - all

still no solution for me, if one provider fails.
I am still looking for a solution and I am sure that I am not the only one having that problem: If provider A fails for any reason, the next provider should be taken. There are many reasons, why a provider fails, like: password wrong (cli reports so, but actually it is the gateway's problem) gateway temporary not reachable gateway busy ... Our user places a call, the gateway responds with

selectFGR vs weighted coxph for internal validation and calibration curve- competing risks model
Dear Geskus, I want to develop a prediction model. I followed your paper and analysed thro' weighted coxph approach. I can develop nomogram based on the final model also. But I do not know how to do internal validation of the model and subsequently obtain calibration plot. Is it possible to use Wolbers et al Epid 2009 approach 9 (R code for internal validation and calibration) . It is

Is SKYPE a threat or should we do something (together)
Skype is very succesfsfull and get more and more users, ... we can ignore them, accept them or do something,... My suggestion is that we try to do something, ... If we would peer to each other, than we get soon also a great amount of users together, and than our service becomes more valuable, ... Let's discuss advantages and disadvantages! bye Ronald -- Ronald Wiplinger (CEO of

Unbreakable NFS locking issues...
Hello All, We are struggling to find a solution to a problem we are encountering with a load-balanced email setup. Currently, we have a Coyote loadbalancer, and 3 Postfix/Dovecot nodes that then get their information from a mysql database. The problem is that after a couple weeks, we start seeing NFS locking issues occur, which then takes email completely down, requiring a site visit to
