THREAD X-REFERENCES2 index bug?
Hi all,
$ sudo dovecot --version
1.2.beta3
I just started using Dovecot a few weeks ago, and my client is also using
the X-REFERENCES2 thread algorithm. The client is misbehaving when trying
to list messages in my INBOX, but only when a threaded message exists. I
have tracked it down to the thread index that Dovecot is returning, but the
problem is only extant when using the X-REFERENCES2

An alternate "dovecot-auth" daemon using cyrus-sasl
We use dovecot in a heterogeneous environment (Windows/Linux desktops
and Linux servers). For unified authentication we use a sheaf
"Samba/Openldap" (i.e., Samba NT domain with openldap backend and
pam/nss_ldap for Linux).
Windows users are authenticated well everywhere, but there is one old
issue. As "SPA" (NTLM) against NT domain is not supported by dovecot, it

v2.1.alpha2 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.1/alpha/dovecot-2.1.alpha2.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.1/alpha/dovecot-2.1.alpha2.tar.gz.sig
This is actually looking rather stable. I'm still calling it "alpha" in
case I think of doing some more API changes, but I think the next one
will be called "beta1", hopefully soon followed by "rc1".

http://dovecot.org/releases/1.1/alpha/dovecot-1.1.alpha1.tar.gz.sig

SSL/TLS stopped working in 1.0 alpha2
I have both 1.0 alpha1 and alpha2 installed on my test mail server.
SSL/TLS does not work on alpha2. I'm using the same config file for
both. No errrors in dovecot.log either. Is there a way to increase
debugging info without recompiling?

PATCH: Advertise X-REFERENCES2
Don't see any reason why X-REFERENCES2 should not be advertised in the
CAPABILITY string - the wiki indicates this is a new addition for 1.2,
and RFC 5256 explicitly states that the THREAD= is to be used for
upwards-compatible extensions.

http://dovecot.org/releases/1.2/alpha/dovecot-1.2.alpha2.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/1.2/alpha/dovecot-1.2.alpha2.tar.gz.sig
Mainly the same fixes as in v1.1.3 -> v1.1.4 plus some more
v1.2-specific fixes.
Not many people have been testing v1.2 releases. Wonder if there's
something I could do to improve that. I guess v1.2 is kind of missing
those killer features that would get a

[Patch] Samba's proposed "ntlm_auth + winbind" support for dovecot-auth
The Samba team recommends to use their "ntlm_auth" command line helper
for "NTLM" and "GSS-SPNEGO" authentication. This helper interacts with
the Samba's winbind daemon, and this way can authenticate users against
NT or Active Directory windows domain.
Currently Dovecot can do "NTLM" authentication too, but just "locally"

In Dovecot v1.0.alpha2, authentication
according domain seems not working
passdb = passwd-file /etc/vmail/test.%d
%d is not resolved as "domain.name"
I browsed on mailing list post and found the
problem already reported...
What I can't figure out is the answer about it...

Lost transaction log file in alpha2
I had run alpha1 pretty uneventfully for several weeks. I upgraded to
alpha2 a couple of days ago and have since suffered two incidents of
"Lost transaction log", resulting in the client being unable to
access the mailbox until I "rm dovecot.index.log*"

Is Alpha2 slower than Alpha1?
I changed servers at the same time as changing from Alpha1 to Alpha2 but
I'm on a faster server so it should be faster. But it seems slower
especially deleting server side messages. Using mbox .
Anyone else seeing tis?
