Cache details
Hi All,
Is there any specific details we can extract from dovecots authentication
cache (besides Authentication cache hits)?
Reason i am asking is because we had a mysql user account which was
returning a unknown user account. Fixing the one value in the sql result
didnt have any affect and Dovecot was still returning an auth failure for
the user after 24 hours had elapsed, even though

Spliting Folders for Efficiency
Dear Timo,
Would there be any sense in giving Dovecot the option to split folders
into multiple subfolders when they reached a specified size (probably
message count) limit?
Dovecot would monitor folders and when they reached, say, 10,000
messages, silently split the folder on the filesystem to ensure that
access remains fast.
I know that Dovecot scales very well but this would give

allow_nets overridden by cache
Hi,
I've just started trying allow_nets on one of my servers. I have
auth_debug and auth_verbose both enabled and the output is as follows:
Oct 28 13:05:48 mink dovecot: auth-worker(default):
auth(user at domain.net,x.x.x.x): allow_nets: Matching for network
127.0.0.1/8

Implementing secondary quota w/ "Archive" namespace
Yeah, I gradually figured out it wouldn't work yesterday when delving back into this and testing. No separate quotas per namespaces until 2.1 or something, I think?
So, got any suggestions on getting it to work with v2.x? I found an old thread from 2013 by Andreas (I think?) and he didn't seem to quite be able to get it to work. Actually, though, I'd be happy to even be able to apply

[bug] Auth cache, proxy and ITERINDEX
Hi,
today we have exceprienced really major difficulties with our proxy
backend servers. Everything started after enabling auth cache:
auth_cache_size = 100M
auth_cache_verify_password_with_worker = yes
auth_cache_ttl = 1 hour
auth_cache_negative_ttl = 1 hour
Soon after we start receiving lots of calls from our customers about
'missing all e-mail messages'. This was in errors logs on

v1.0.0 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.0.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.0.tar.gz.sig
It took almost 5 years, but it's finally ready. I'm not expecting to
release v1.0.1 anytime soon, unless someone's been sitting on a major
bug just waiting for v1.0 to be released. :)
People wanting new features should start testing the upcoming v1.1.

Caching?
Any way to minimize the number of sql statements that dovecot do?
(and I tried adding userdb prefetch { } but number of sql calls are still the same)
Am I doing something wrong or?

severe performance problem (mail cache related?)
Hi all, we're having a bad day with email :)
I have a user who was complaining of poor performance today when
opening mailboxes. Total time to open the box was about 1 minute.
Upon truss'ing the imap process during an open, I saw the trace quoted
below at the end of the email.
As you can see, for each "FETCH" line of response, we were seeing

Marking as Read causes Body.Peek on ALL messages - Reasonable?
I've noticed when I select a folder of messages (Thunderbird) and mark
them all as read (or unread) it produces the following IMAP transcript:

Hi,
We have dovecot configured with auth cache. Is there any way to remove

http://dovecot.org/releases/2.2/dovecot-2.2.26.0.tar.gz.sig
v2.2.26 had a couple of nasty bugs left in it, so here's a fixup release. The version number is also a little bit weird, but had to be done this way (although 2.2.26.0.1 could have been another possibility).
- Fixed some compiling issues.
