sort_link_helper and cross-controller partials
Hello Rubyists,
I ran into a problem with sorting a table (rendered in a partial) using
the sort_link_helper methods after I have submitted data and re-rendered
the table through an AJAX request.
The setup is a follows:
The table is a shared partial of Controller1 and Controller2 accessible
via "shared/table". The AJAX''ed sorting using the sort helper works all

[PATCH server] Cloud UI V1 (readonly).
This patch creates the shell for much of what the cloud ui will
become. It is focused on layout (lightly fedora themed), accessibility,
and 'bookmarkability'. This layout uses no javascript (that will be
used to enhance interactivity in a future patch). It also introduces
the idea of using a simple table rather than the more conplex js/json
we use in the admin side. Plan here is to

Hi,
I render a couple of date_select fields, the HTML looks fine, I can
see the values submitted back to the server, but AR doesn''t pick them
up from the hash in Booking.new(params[''booking'']).
I''ve got a ''booking'' object with parameters product, startdate and
enddate.

warning: already initialized constant problem
Hi,
I am getting the following error in WeBrick when using salted login
generator:
> ./script/../config/..//app/helpers/user_helper.rb:7: warning: already
> initialized constant DEFAULT_HEAD_OPTIONS
> 127.0.0.1 - - [31/May/2005:18:04:55 PDT] "HEAD /company.html HTTP/1.0"

Now, I can easily get around this bug but i wondered how to prevent it
from happening.

Anyone care for a braindump?
I have this problem with records that have to be alligned on end- and
startdate. I came up with the following. but am not convinced that this
is the best way to tackle this problem. Anyone care for a braindump?
def head_to_tail
# Remove days that have startdate >= self.startdate AND enddate <=
self.enddate
#
# before after

Array of dates/times from time.now till nextweek
Hi,
I would like to make @dates in my controller.
I tried the following:
startdate = Time.now
enddate = startdate.next_week
for enddate > startdate
@dates << startdate
startdate = startdate.tomorrow
end
But I get an errormessage when I check the syntax:
"warning: useless use of a variable in void context"
Anyone?
Thanks!
Steven.

Example code for select_from_db (a.k.a. combo box)
I''m not asking for help this time! :) :) In almost every Rails
project I create, I find that I want a select() popup menu that is
pre-populated by data from the database. Also, I want an "Other..."
option that presents a text_field_tag to input another (not
presented) option (basically a combo-box). In an attempt to be as
DRY as possible, I''ve come up with

Need a better undersanding of form helpers
perhaps someone can take a little time to give me a better
understanding of how to use form helpers.
Here is what I''m working with in my app:
user model - (the table where a user registers their information)
it contains the following fields -
first_name
last_name
email
account_type (currently set to string but will probably be a select
box with options)
