odd behaviour with antispam plugin
hey, in my dspam database there has been some odd behaviour: during training dspam had created an uid entry named by the local part of the email. i.e.: user1 I use a virtual setup using dovecot, postfix and postfixadmin. On my first try I set up a database for dspam itself and there this happened. After I couldn't figure out how to solve this, I merged the database into the postfixadmin

Using account alias as login
Hello, I use dovecot with a LDAP backend for user account and aliases. The aliases are objects of the class couriermailalias. Some users would like to use the alias address as POP/IMAP login instead of the 'true' account. Is this possible?. I am using dovecot version 1.0,10, from ubuntu hardy packages. Thanks for any answer, Javier

login_* options for 1.0.15
Hello all, Although i'm aware that version 1.0.15 is rather old, that's what is used in Lenny, so... Either way, the setup is rather simple, regular dovecot install, with maildirs residing on a "local" ext3 filesystem accessed through FC to a SAN (2Gbps link). The server has 2 cores (with HT), so "almost" 4 cores and 3GB of ram. A couple weeks ago we had a major

POP3 Problem with SPAM-Mail's over sieve
Hi together, i am currently using dovecot 1.2.10 with the sieve-plugin and use a sieve-filter to sort the SPAM-Mail's directly into a Junk-Folder: require "fileinto"; # rule:[junkfilter] if header :contains "X-Spam-Flag" "YES" { fileinto "Junk"; } My problem is now, if i try to retrieve the Mails via POP3, i did not get the SPAM-Mail's in the

mailtrain with dovecot antispam plugin
Hello all, and Johannes if you're around, I was trying to set up the "new" antispam plugin with the mailtrain backend, and i was trying to use the sendmail binary that's part of a qmail system. The message wouldn't get sent and i kept getting exit error 100 from the /var/qmail/bin/sendmail binary. To try to figure out what was happening, i mean a fake sendmail program,

Better APPEND performance
Moving a large number of messages into an IMAP folder on a dovecot server takes quite a long time. This is a popular operation for users migrating their stored messages from their old mail servers through a mail user agent, and it causes a poor first impression of dovecot. I'd like your help to speed this up. I have studied this problem in recent versions, including 1.1.[17-19]

SSL/TLS with Outlook client
I am trying to get TLS to work with Outlook 2007 and I've hit a small problem. Whenever I start it up, I get this error: "The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified. The target principal name is incorrect." (yes/no choice of trusting) I first tried with a wildcard cert (*.elisand.com), and then tried with mail.elisand.com - both certs

antispam plugin ehancement
I'm not a developper so I can't do it by myself, but I wonder if it could be possible to use tagSpam and tagNospam DSPAM feature to ehance user's dspam lerning experience. I even don't know if this must be done by DSPAM itself or by dovecot, but let me explain : The feature would be done by a signature replacement into tagSpam and tagNospam text, so the user would simply

v1.1 plans
I think I won't do any actual releases until it's mostly feature complete. Then maybe v1.1.alpha1 or v1.1.beta1. So if you want to test it before then, use CVS or the nightly snapshots. I'm planning on keeping v1.1 almost completely compatible with v1.0. There could be some minor configuration file changes, but for most people v1.0's dovecot.conf should work with v1.1. I want to

Dovecot+LDAP issues
Dear list members, I am having some problems with a LDAP passdb authentication on Dovecot. Before I forget, the specs: it's a Ubuntu 7.10 server running Dovecot 1.0.5 connecting to 2 different machines running LDAP servers: gold with OpenLDAP 2.4.19 and extra with OpenLDAP 2.4.9 (extra is a replication slave of gold). The initial setup of dovecot was with a MySQL passdb, which is still the

Antispam plugin custom behavior?
Hello, I currently have a setup on my system with what I call "magic folders" to enable spam filter training. Here's how it works: 1. If you have a false-negative, put the spam into the Spam.Report folder 2. If you have a false-positive (which has all kinds of ugly spamassassin protective markup in it), put the message into the Spam.NotSpam folder

Drop Call on ICMP Port Unreachable?
One of our users recently had a powerfail while connected to our meetme gateway. (Asterisk 1.4.17 on debian 4.0) Through the course of it, asterisk never hung up. His system came back up, and started sending ICMP port unreachables, but the stream went on, flooding him with "silence" media stream packets (there was nobody else in the conference). Is asterisk aware of ICMP

Homedir Access without exposing whole Homedir.
Hello All, Dovecot 1.0.3 I am coming from UW IMAP, and I'm finding for some reason that mail is getting stored in a variety of places (which I believe, is because by default UW imap allowed access to the entire home directory). All files are mbox. My default delivery location is ~/.mail Thus: * At least a couple of my users have mail in ~/INBOX, as well as ~/INBOX.drafts (not many

Reversing milking machine (console server)
Hi. I have a box (a net5501 with a Perle serial octal RS-232 card in it) that I want to use as a console server for a bunch of headless computers. I was wondering if there's a trivial app that I can run as the shell that ssh (or telnet) would run, example: #!/bin/bash port=$(echo "$SSH_CONNECT" | cut -d' ' -f4) let -i tty=$port-2000 ttyname=$(printf

Odd PRI Behavior
When using a PRI, after the remote party hangs up, asterisk tries to spawn a call to the "h" extension. Is this normal behavior for a pri to try to call the "h" extension to try to clean things up? Call Comes In: -- Executing Dial("Zap/1-1", "SIP/16464436000@AST-237.65") in new stack -- Called 16464436000@AST-237.65 -- Accepting call from

Utility to scan for unpassworded SSH privkeys?
Hey all, Let's make an assumption: 1) I am a root user on a system. 2) I don't want said system being used as a jumping-off point if either a user account or the root account is compromised. Given an unencrypted private key, plus a known_hosts file, plus bash_history, it's a pretty easy avenue of attack once you're in the front door. And it's happened before*. Thus,
