caching custom headers (via plugins)
hi,
currently dovecot caches on disk some most common headers. Is it possible to
tweak such headers list via plugins, eg to cache custom X-* headers, or do
I need to hack the actual index/cache src? if so, which are the .c/.h files
to touch?
thanks

TSIG error with server: tsig verify failure - Failed DNS update with exit code 5
I have been trying to figure out this problem for a couple weeks no with no
luck. Out of the blue, I started getting TSIG errors on my Samba AD DC. I
pulled the logging extract below after turning up the log level to 10 and
waiting for a reoccurrence. These errors will typically happen every few
hours with one to three occurrences withing the same second. Can anybody
tell from this what Samba is

Embedded OLE objects problem with Arena Simulation software
Hi, I'm having problems to install Arena Simulation 10.0, academic edition. I think there is no entry in AppDB about this software. I'm using Wine 1.1.14, which i compiled in a Debian Etch.
The software uses Windows Installer 2.0, and before installing it does a check of required components:
Windows Installer 2.0
MDAC 2.8
JET 4.0 SP3
.NET framework 1.1
and it updates automatically MDAC

Inotify max_user_instances
Maybe I have multiple problems - dunno.
I've started seeing the following log lines:
Mar 7 07:46:22 bubba dovecot: imap(dmiller at amfes.com): Warning: Inotify
instance limit for user 5000 (UID vmail) exceeded, disabling. Increase
/proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances
max_user_instances is currently 128.
I've tried stopping and restarting dovecot - the message immediately
returns.

GlusterFS and inotify
I recently moved my backend storage to GlusterFS V3.0 and with one exception
everything is running great. That exception is that I had a daemon using
inotify that was watching my storage for new files. Upon arrival this watcher
uploaded a copy of the file to Amazon S3. This daemon had been running just
fine for well over a year. Moving to GlusterFS seems to indicate that inotify
doesn't

ZFS equivalent of inotify
Is there a ZFS equivalent (or alternative) of inotify?

Feature Question: Inotify over OCFS2.
Is Inotify **fully supported** by OCFS2 ? Does it work well ?
Thank you

inotify support in dovecot
Hi,
I note that dovecot supported inotify from -test77, and now the Linux kernel
supports it starting from linux-2.6.13-rc3. So in theory I should be set to
go. I'm using an -mm kernel, and it was built with inotify, on FC4/devel.
However when trying to build with it using --with-notify=inotify, I always
seem to be getting this message:
checking for poll... yes
configure: error:

inotify trouble
Hello there
This morning our main Samba server was pretty unresponsive running at a
30+ load average.
After digging a bit what I found in the logs was the following.
No data on inotify fd?!
[2008/01/21 07:02:59, 0] smbd/notify_inotify.c:inotify_handler(234)
That entry appears a billion zillion times in the log file until the
file system is filled up leaving no space on the device and sending

inotify error and a file opened 1000+ times on a Samba share
I service a small office with 6 XP computers. I just installed a server
running CentOS 5.4 and Samba 3.0.33. They use a program called
"On-screen Takeoff". This program accesses a couple database files that
live on the shared drive. "Projects.ldb" and "Projects.mdb" On-screen
takeoff stays open all day, and maintains access to it's database files
all day.

inotify and network/cluster filesystems
(dovecot v1.2.16)
I've notice the log notices about increasing
/proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances on my servers, and started
wondering if inotify works for network/cluster filesystems..
I found this:
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=311194
which says that there's no mechanism for one node to tell another node
that a directory changed for GPFS.. And I

inotify and filesystem monitors
hi everyone
do you guys know why icrond does not catch/see what happens
inside autofs mounted gluster volumes?
I rsync into such mount point and incron oblivious, from its
perspective nothing happened.
many thanks, L.

@devel - Why no inotify?
Hey,
I thought about it a while back, haven't actually done it but I assume
using inotify on the brick should work, at least in replica volumes
(disperse probably wouldn't, you wouldn't get all events or you'd need
to make sure your inotify runs on every brick). Then from there you
could notify your clients, not ideal, but that should work.
I agree that adding support for inotify

inotify on rhel systems?
I just read an interesting article caleed "Monitor Linux file system
events with inotify.", see
http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-inotify.html?ca=dgr-lnxw02Inotify.
I notice that /dev/inotify is not present on my CentOS4 system, so the
necessary kernel patches are probably not present.
Does anyone know if there are any plans afoot to provide this
functionality for

We have these APIs that cannot possibly work by design. Obviously
adding them was a mistake, but here we are.

The guestfs_inotify_add_watch API has started to fail in Rawhide. I'm

Inotify or equivalent
I installed inotify and incrond to watch a directory and set the
job as '/mnt/dir IN_ATTRIB chmod 0660 $@/$#' which worked very well
except that as expected, IN_ATTRIB is to broad of a watch class as it
caused an enormous amount of contention with the filemonitor and/or
db server and the client side app was less than happy. Not to mention
top showed it working away like mad...

Is there any plans to use the Linux inotify, which is a major

add inotify support to dovecot
Hi,
attached patch against test76 adds inotify support and the
--with-notify=... configure option that defaults to the current check
for dnotify using no special method if dnotify cannot be compiled, and
can be set to none, dnotify and inotify. If it is set to dnotify or
inotify, failure to compile a test program results in an error.
Also, it adds
