M-Box benchmark
A friend of mine passed me this[1] cause I'm recommending him Dovecot. My personal experience is very different to the one in that benchmark. I will appreciate similar links from those of you who had benchmarked Dovecot against other IMAP servers. I'm conscious that my personal experience is far to be a objetive comparison. I switched from UW-Imap/Mbox to Dovecot/Maildir a box with 45k

Error: net_connect(/var/run/dovecot/auth-master) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
I'm using deliver (1.0.5) with Postfix (2.1.6). I made a test for a few minutes in a moderated busy server. While most mails was delivered, a lot of them failed with this error: deliver(userfoo): Oct 15 09:58:31 Error: net_connect(/var/run/dovecot/auth-master) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable Sounds to me something like not enough auth-master to answer every concurrent deliver. Any

In-site migration from /etc/passwd to LDAP
I'm doing in-site migration of accounts from /etc/passwd to an LDAP directory. The migration should be progressive (not all users at the same time). I'm already able to check mail for accounts in /etc/passwd and accounts in LDAP. The problem is with mail delivery. I'm using Postfix + Dovecot-LDA. This is the error I get with every delivery -- dovecot: Oct 03 00:16:09 Info:

Ignored proxy_maybe var and no local login when "host = Proxy FQDN"

maildirsize update error
According to [1], Trash is a reserverd folder name. When moving a message to it, maildirsize should be update with a negative byte count. If I move a message from any folder to Trash, maildirsize gets two lines, one positive and one negative. The problem is that a user can't move messages to Trash while being overquota because the positive entry goes before the negative. I'm using

Disconnecting without unbinding?
Timo Please have a look at this short thread[1]. That message stops appearing whenever I shutdown dovecot. Custom mail directory with LDAP
For certain users, I have their mail boxes under /srv/mpop/<username>/Maildir. For the rest, I have their mail boxes under /srv/vmail/<username>/Maildir. mpop/ users are stored in LDAP, vmail/ users are local users so I discard the idea of set a fixed mail_location. In dovecot-ldap.conf I can't get the picture to set /srv/mpop/<username>/Maildir as mail. I'd tried

Compiler warnings in dovecot-2.1.2 and pigeonhole 0.3.0
I'm seeing a few warnings emitted when building for x86. They're pretty obvious, but if you want the configure options etc, I can provide those. In Dovecot 2.1.2 (I also see some of these in 2.1.1): 1) src/lib-index/mail-cache-fields.c (comparison between two last_used fields) mail-cache-fields.c: In function 'mail_cache_header_fields_read': mail-cache-fields.c:406: warning:

Secure connection from "localhost" in jails
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Dear dovecot developers, first: thanks for this really cool imapd, on my server it serves some hundred domains, all in all some thousand users, some having hundred thousand mails in their Maildirs (their spam boxes mostly). Since I put this installation in an FreeBSD geli encrypted disc image I had no choice but to choose an imapd with clever

Time moved backwards by 4398 seconds
Dovecot (v1.1.rc8) died tonight, with an error about time moving backwards by 4398 seconds. I can see from logs that this has happend a few times before with the imap processes, without me noticing. I sure noticed the master process missing, though :-). I was puzzled that it was always 4398 seconds, in particular because this server runs an NTP daemon. A little searching for this problem shows

Asterisk@Home 1.1b1 has been released
We have replaced the simple contact management system in Asterisk@Home with SugarCRM a full CRM system. This might seem like over kill for a home PBX but Sugar has the best contact management we have seen. With click to dial functionality and the ability to import data from other contact managers it’s a great fit for Asterisk@Home. We have also added new version of the usual Asterisk software AMP

[patch] Re: Test migration (IMAP copy) and INTERNALDATE?]
I haven't been able to find what is responsible for altering the time on APPENDed mail, but was able to come up with a temporary workaround ... simply calling utime() later on in the process resolves it. Below is my patch. Steve --- dovecot-1.0.beta7-orig/src/lib-storage/index/maildir/maildir-save.c 2006-03-25 05:53:43.000000000 -0500 +++

libwrap-ing IMAP and POP logins
Since I've been using this for maybe a year now, maybe someone else is interested in restricting IMAP and POP logins via libwrap. In addition to the attached patch (against 1.0.5) to src/login-common/main.c, src/{imap,pop3}-login/Makefile.in have to be modified to link against libwrap. Of course, the option needs to be integrated into configure in the long run. -------------- next part

Polycom Reboot Script
Hello, I'm trying to setup the revised Polycom remote reboot script as found on: http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Polycom+reboot+hardphone+script I'm not sure how to use this script, it's just a perl script, so I tried creating an executable perl script and running it, but I get the following: [root@asterisk1 agi-bin]# ./polycom_reboot.pl 192.168.3.205 Checking ARP
