APC Smart-UPS 3000XL: Compatible/Any good?
Hello list.
I'm contemplating buying new batteries and putting an older APC
Smart-UPS 3000XL back into service. Would that work well with NUT? Any
drawbacks to consider?
Thank you,
Tobias

Deliver - Virtual users
Hello...
I have dovecot 1.0.10 running with users in an LDAP database. Things are
working as they should with IMAP.
However, I can't seem to make deliver w. postfix work they way I want.
My problems are:
Mail to users who do not exist in LDAP or locally are accepted and
mailfolders are created. I want mail to users that do not exist in LDAP
or locally to be rejected.
Mail is delivered

RFC: HTTP based storage API
Hi,
Nearly every popular programming language has an LMTP/POP/IMAP
implementation, most of them suck in many different ways.
I don't know any server or library which provides a well-established,
compatible protocol frontend with an open backend API, which could be
used to easily make a custom storage backend for the LMTP/POP/IMAP
frontend in any language, in any programming paradigm,

exec and notify
Are exec resources triggered by notify events supposed to be run once for every event
received or only run once per run irregardless of the number of resources that notified
it? It seems to me that it gets run twice no matter how many resources triggered it.
consider the following class:
class dhcp {
$prefix = "/usr/local/etc/dhcpd"
$dhcpd_conf = "$prefix/dhcpd.conf"

Relaying of spam
Hi, sorry if this isn't the right place to post, but I'm having some
trouble figuring out a spamming issue. If anyone here can help, that'd
be amazing.
I'm running Brian's CentOS/BlueQuartz CD, version 3.5 from Nuonce.net.
Everything seemed to be running fine for several days until this
morning, when I received a zillion "returned mail" notices from the
mailer

Regarding: **OFF LIST** subject declaration
Seriously, I just have to ask this question. Why mark via the subject
line a message as "OFF LIST" and then send it via the normal list
framework. Doing so only insures that the message is actually "ON
LIST" irregardless of what nomenclature is used in the subject line. If
a message is truly supposed to be "OFF LIST", then why not send it
directly to its intended

T100P Incoming Calls Drop
I have been experiencing a rather odd issue with my (newly connected)
T100P card. It is installed in my Asterisk server, which is working
great with SIP clients. The card is connected to a channelized T-1 line
(24 channels). The odd bit is that outgoing calls (Asterisk --> T-1 -->
PSTN) works just fine. However, incoming calls (PSTN --> T-1 -->
Asterisk) are dropped after about 20

Access to internet execpt some subnets
Hello Shorewall users
I have a firewall based on RedHat 8.0 and Shorewall.
I have 2 interfaces, with 2 ip address on the loc interface, the connection
to the internet runs through my company''s network with an ADSL/MPLS line. I
need to configure my Shorewall with the possiblity to deny some users''
access to the ''net'' for some subnet.

LSI 3GB HBA SAS Errors (and other misc)
During the diagnostics of my SAN failure last week we thought we had seen a backplane failure due to high error counts with ''lsiutil''. However, even with a new backplane and ruling out failed cards (MPXIO or singular) or bad cables I''m still seeing my error count with LSIUTIL increment. I''ve got no disks attached to the array right now so I''ve also

rails & sqlserver collation problems
Boa tarde pessoal.

Interesting observation with network event notification and batching
Hi all
I''m hacking on a netback trying to identify whether TLB flushes causes
heavy performance penalty on Tx path. The hack is quite nasty (you would
not want to know, trust me).
Basically what is doesn''t is, 1) alter network protocol to pass along
mfns instead of grant references, 2) when the backend sees a new mfn,
map it RO and cache it in its own address space.
With this

Suggest changing dirhash defaults for FreeBSD 9.2.
I have been experimenting with dirhash settings, and have scoured the internet
for other peoples' experience with it.
(I found the performance improvement in compiling has forestalled the need to
add an SSD drive. ;-)
I believe that increasing the following values by 10 would benefit most FreeBSD
users without disadvantage.
vfs.ufs.dirhash_maxmem: 2097152 to 20971520

Simple code dosn't work
I think you have a syntactical error on the line thats throwing the
error, you state:
> j.even?should be true #throws an error on j == 2, j == 4
should this line not read as:
j.even?.should be true

NUT 2.0.4-4 - Debian stable - /etc/killpower not created?
Hello....
I'm testing the functionality of my NUT-setup (NUT 2.0.4-4 - Debian
stable). The system is connected to the UPS, but is not powered by it.
When running "upsmon -c fsd", upsmon says "Auto logout and shutdown
proceeding". This is all well and good, but I never see the machine
waiting for the UPS to cut the power. Instead it shuts down.
It's my

PowerWare 9120 via USB?
Hello...
I have a PowerWare 9120 attached via USB to my Debian system.
My ups.conf looks like this:
[ups1]
driver = bcmxcp_usb
port = auto
desc = "PowerWare 9120"
When testing the driver with "upsdrvctl -u root start" I get:
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.0.4
Network UPS Tools - BCMXCP UPS driver 0.10 (2.0.4)

Re: install issues
Are you trying to install the 64-bit or the 32-bit?
While the install is running, some of the other virtual consoles display
logs and error information. What do those show when the install rejects your
disk?
What result did you get trying from the HTTP install?

Do I need a CH1 licence for Cisco Phones ?
I've got a question regarding Cisco IP Phones and licencing.
When using a third party PBX like asterisk is a licence required for the
Cisco phones ? Has anyone got anything in writing from Cisco to clarify this
?
Eg can I just use CP-7961G or do I need CP-7961G-CH1 even though I'm not
using Cisco Callmanager ?

RubyGems runtime memory use in Rails apps...
This an open plea for someone with knowledge of RubyGems to explain why
RubyGems stays in memory (over 10MB) after a Rails application is loaded. I
am unable to figure out why this would be necessary. I haven''t had any
response from Jim or Chad from RubyGems about it so I thought I would throw
it open to the list to see if anyone could educate me or share thier
experiences with this.
