sorting question
Hi, If I understand the thread sorting algorithm correctly (from draft-ietf-imapext-sort-17.txt and the code), it will sort like this (where I use numbers instead of dates with higher numbers being newer mails) 4 10 3 11 2 12 1 13 etc into all the lower levels. Thunderbird will actually sort this like this: 1 13 2 12 3 11 4 10 where threads are sorted by the newest child in

Spliting Folders for Efficiency
Dear Timo, Would there be any sense in giving Dovecot the option to split folders into multiple subfolders when they reached a specified size (probably message count) limit? Dovecot would monitor folders and when they reached, say, 10,000 messages, silently split the folder on the filesystem to ensure that access remains fast. I know that Dovecot scales very well but this would give

Marking as Read causes Body.Peek on ALL messages - Reasonable?
I've noticed when I select a folder of messages (Thunderbird) and mark them all as read (or unread) it produces the following IMAP transcript: Source Destination Info c.c.c.c s.s.s.s Request: DONE s.s.s.s c.c.c.c Response: 20 OK Idle completed. c.c.c.c s.s.s.s Request: 21 uid store 1:20 -Flags (\Seen) s.s.s.s c.c.c.c Response: * 1 FETCH (UID 1 FLAGS (\Recent NonJunk)) c.c.c.c s.s.s.s

Recommended FS for Dovecot Maildir
Hi, I've heard that for Dovecot/Mailir systems there are filesystems that are optimised for the situation of many small files in one folder. Could I possibly have some feedback on what the recommended filesystems are? I've heard of ReiserFS but was wondering what other options there are and how they compare. If I get a good comprehensive response I'll build a wiki summary page

rsync over ssh
I have been trying to get rsync with ssh to work and have found that even though I have a daemon running it spawns another when I connect (running as the user I sshed as). This was in the enhancements for 2.5.6. I am trying to figure out how i can use the ssh for security but still connect to the daemon that I have running as root so i can back up all of my files that arn't readable by anyone

Testing Ogg Vorbis with modules.
To anyone who wants to compare Ogg Vorbis to various other codecs, or at all, try converting modules (.mod/.xm/.it/etc) to .wav and then encoding them with oggenc. While most modules arn't what most people would use Vorbis for, it will give you a good idea on what it can (and can't!) do. www.modarchive.com has loads of modules. Try the techno ones, in particular.

split() - unexpected sorting of results
Hey, I found this - for me - quite surprising and puzzling behaviour of split(). split(1:11, as.character(1:11)) split(1:11, 1:11) When splitting by numerics everything works as expected - sorting of input == sorting of output -- but when using a character vector everything gets re-sorted alphabetical. Although, there are some references in the help files to what happens when using split, I

Sorting problem
Hi I'm using R 2.0 in SuSE 9.2. When I plot data as a boxplot, the boxes appear on the plot in alphabetical order (of group) rather than the order in which they appear in the data. So far, the only thing I can do to fix this is to prefix the group labels with a,b,c...etc to trick R into plotting them in the right order. Can sorting be turned off? How should I address this sensibly? Thanks

lattice barchart sorting and coloring
Hi List, I am trying to produce a lattice barchart with text as labels. My data is ordered, but the chart sorts x labels alphabetically. Is there any way of forcing my ordering onto the chart? Secondly, I wish to color groups of the bars based on a coded variable. Any way of passing these codes onto colors on the chart (panel.superpose does changes columns to dots). Any suggestions

# IP601's with POE per Catalyst 3560G-48PS
Hello people, I am having difficulties figuring out the POE power draw in watts from a Polycom IP601. I want to know how many IP601's can be powered from the Cisco Catalyst 3560G-48PS. The IP601 wallwart has: Input 120VAC 60hz 19W, Output 24VDC 500mA. I assume the output is appropriate value to figure out how many phones can be powered. The Cisco 3560 datasheet says "the 48-port PoE

sorting matrix output alphabetically
Hello, I have been using the TM package to create a TermDocMatrix, which I have saved as a matrix so that I can view word frequencies. Below is a section of the code that I have used and an excerpt of the output: What I wanted to be able to do is to view the output alphabetically - rather than the results being sorted by frequency as below, that an alphabetical list would be generated. POE draw on Aastra 480i
Anyone know what the POE draw is for the Aastra 480i phones? We have switches that will do 15 watts on 12 ports but only do 7.7 watts on all 24 ports. A Cisco 3560 switch will do 15.6 watts on all 24 ports. Just trying to find out if we need that much power. Can't seem to find any info on the Aastra site. Comments?

Watts Strogatz game

Sender phone ringing while recipient talking
I've had asterisk running for about a month now between our PBX and our T1, and everything seems fine but for one simple nit-pick: When a call to the outside workd is made, and if the recipient picks up while a the sender's phone is still relaying the ring, the sender won't be heard until after the ring stops. This often translates a simple "hello?" into a
