Configure deliver to add ', S=<size>' to maildir message name
Hi,
I want to use the zlib plugin to compress my mail storage. According to
the wiki, only messages with size attribute in the message id should by
compressed. If I added the size part, dovecot assumes it is a new message.
While dovecot undertands the ',S=<size>' attribute (IMAP shows that
size), I could not configure deliver to add the size to message name.

1.0.14 error on Windows-XP
Hi...
Tinc v1.0.13 works fine on Windows XP but Tinc v1.0.14 shows only an error
message (tinc -n xxx -d5 -D). The error message is "System command
'setpriority' failed. Command not found"...
Any suggestions ?
Kind regards,

dovecot-deliver auth-master error
Hi all,
I'm trying to get the sieve plugin to work, but with little result. I'm
following http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA, http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Postfix
and http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Sieve
but it won't work. As I have virtual users from several virtual domains, I
added the "virtual users - with lookup" section from
http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA, but now dovecot fails

(1.0.13) fsync failed: Disk quota exceeded for some accounts
Hello all,
We've recently migrated the mail server used by our 5000 students, from
Tru64/UW-IMAP/Procmail/Postfix/mbox to Debian Etch/Dovecot/Deliver/Postfix/Maildir
E-mails are not stored directly on the server (except for index and control files), but on an NAS
that exports the students' homedirs on NFS. Each student has a 100MB quota on the NAS.
Here is the configuration :

Security hole #6: Some passdbs allowed users to log in without a valid password
This affects only blocking passdbs:
- MySQL
- PAM, passwd and shadow if blocking=yes
The underlying bug exists in all v1.0.x versions, but I couldn't figure
out a way to exploit it except with v1.0.11, v1.0.12 and v1.1.rc2.
Probably a good idea to upgrade in any case.
The main problem is that Dovecot's internal protocols use TAB character
as a delimiter, but passwords were sent

Truncated emails in Dovecot (v1.0.13)
Odd situation started recently whereby emails that are delivered into a
maildir folder are being truncated when read. The emails are delivered
via Exim and I can see the emails are complete when I look inside them.
However, when viewing the emails via Thunderbird or a webmail client,
they are truncated.

v1.0.13: maildirfolder not being created
Hi,
I'm using version 1.0.13 of dovecot. I know it's somewhat dated, but
that's the latest that Debian etch offers, and I would like to avoid
compiling by myself if possible.
dovecot is not creating the 'maildirfolder' in folders that are
created via IMAP. Looking at the NEWS file, this was implemented in
v1.0.rc7, so my version should have that working already. Is

Allow_nets + MySQL failing when using range notation
Hello all,
I am testing my dovecot installation in order to restrict access via
POP3 for IPs outside my network. I have read and understood the
instructions in the wiki and I have reached a configuration that works
ONLY when single IPs are listed in allow_nets but not when ranges in the
notation x.x.x.x/y are listed. Some examples should be more explanatory.
I am using 1.0.rc15 patched as

Upgrade To New Version
I am currently running Dovecot on DoD production email server (Postfix) and
the latest version the software available from Redhat is
dovecot-0.99.11-8.EL4. According to you guys, this is ancient and I was
wondering what is the safest and easiest way to get my version updated
without breaking it...
Thanks for any help and or points in the right direction...

Dovecot & (Al)pine - resaving messages to Inbox
I have a x86 Linux box running Fedora 4. Up until 2008 I was using pine 4.64 and Dovecot 0.99.x. In early 2008 I transitioned to Alpine 1.10, and didn't notice any major changes.
I upgraded to Dovecot 1.0.15 this past weekend. My dovecot -n settings are at the bottom of the email.
I've noticed a change since Dovecot was upgraded. I used to reorder items within my INBOX in al/pine by

Xen + NFS
Thanks for Dovecot!
I am currently testing several scenarios to help determine how to best implement dovecot for our environment. One scenario of particular interest is Maildir + NFS, load balanced between several servers running dovecot.
I am not sure anyone would ever want to implement what I am about to describe here, but none-the-less, I thought I would mention it to the list to see if
