Some issues in Dovecot 1.2.5 after upgrade from 1.0.15
We upgraded from Dovecot 1.0.15 to 1.2.5 last night, on Solaris 10 using mboxes, mostly without issues. However I had to trash the index/cache files (too many folders were showing corruption issues which is especially bad for Prayer Webmail ".prayer" folders that store preferences; Prayer sees a disconnection as the folder being missing!). I've had one imap process panic in mailbox

rc12 dovecot-auth core dump with ldap
Hi, I've got a core dump during initialisation when I use 1.0.rc12 and LDAP with authenticated binds in Solaris. It worked OK in 1.0.rc10. Here's the non-commented entries in dovecot-ldap.conf - some of which are probably redundant :) :- hosts = xxx.yyy.rdg.ac.uk auth_bind = yes auth_bind_userdn = "cn=%n,cn=users,dc=xxx,dc=yyy,dc=rdg,dc=ac,dc=uk" ldap_version = 3 base =

Another 1.2.5 imap panic
We've had another random imap process crash. This is with the original 1.2.5 imap (I haven't applied the patch for two processes creating an index simultaneously): > Oct 03 13:24:56 imap-login: Info: Login: user=<xxxxxxxx>, method=PLAIN, rip=134.225.1.46, lip=134.225.16.6 > Oct 03 13:25:59 IMAP 6067 xxxxxxxx 134.225.1.46 : Info: delete: uid=483, msgid=<xxxxxxxx> > Oct

A few rc17 imap crashes
We upgraded from 1.0-beta7 to 1.0-rc17 on Tuesday evening and looking at today's logs, just four imap processes out of 90,000+ died. I managed to get core files (the server is running Solaris 8 on Sparc, and Dovecot was compiled with gcc 3.3.2). I hope they're useful! (I should also say that performance between the two versions is roughly similar according to Solaris' process

Some of the mail on the server to duplicate.
I am using dovecot in mbox format. I'm going to set to leave the 30-day mail to the server with the mail client. The other day, some of email was received duplicate When receive mail. Mail does not arrive between Nov 4 11:09:03 and Nov 4 11:13:25. There should be the 259 (274-15) messages at the time of Nov 4 11:09:03 on the server from the log. Trust problems after upgrade from 3.5 to 3.6
Hello. My setup: _ one Samba 3.5 domain (XXXXXXXX), with a PDC and a BDC, both running FreeBSD; _ one AD domain (YYYYYYYY) running on two Windows 2003 DCs; _ bidirectional trust between the two domains. Everything used to work until I moved the PDC from Samba 3.5 (EOL'ed) to 3.6; now, users from domain YYYYYYYY cannot access the PDC's shares. I used to have in smb.conf: >

asterisk and Broadvoice Outgoing Again :(
Hi, I can't make outgoing calls via Broadvoice. I have tried each and every configuration that was posted to list previously. I am able to receive incoming calls fine. I get the following in asterisk console: ===================================================== asterisk*CLI> show version Asterisk CVS-HEAD-03/10/05-22:51:28 built by vicky@asterisk on a i686 running Linux

IMAP message ID bad for very old message
Hi, I just noticed that the ordering by message ID when accessing my email via IMAP is messed up. I'm looking in the INBOX that contains 11757 emails. For some reason a load of emails from 2009 and 2010 are being listed near the top, for example I have a message with ID 11441 from 2009 where it definitely shouldn't be, its all mixed in with emails from 2011 there. Server fails to boot
First some history. This is an Intel MB and processor some 6 years old, initially running CentOS 6. It has 4 x 1TB sata drives set up in two mdraid 1 mirrors. It has performed really well in a rural setting with frequent power cuts which the UPS has dealt with and auto shuts down the server after a few minutes and then auto restarts when power is restored. The clients needed a Windoze server

Error "Could not fetch trust account password" in Samba 3 Beta..what do I need to do?
Specifics samba-3.0.0beta1-1.i386.rpm on RedHat 9 and smbpasswd authentication, the machine is the PDC and security is set for user. The machine account was setup on the fly and it appears in passwd, shadow, and smbpasswd files as it should. However it seemed to take a very long time to join the domain, about 1-1/2 minutes. I can browse the Samba PDC machine and access the shares, etc. After

Mac OSX clients - slow display & copy times with image files
We've been having intermittent problems with our Mac OS clients and our file servers. We've had a few reports of 10.6.x clients opening folders (usually consisting of image files) and having the Finder hang for an extended period of time before it finishes displaying the files. Additionally, when trying to copy a number of image files into another folder, I have witnessed it hang for 10+

Dovecot 1.1 rc9 compilation warnings
I've tried compiling 1.1.rc9 on everything to hand and I get various compilation warnings (but the compilation finishes). I don't know whether any of them are worth tracking down? I'm guessing most of the differences depend on the default gcc options and a couple of them are probably specific to our setup. All were configured with ./configure --prefix=/opt/RDGdovect

FC6 and winbind separator ignored?
I'm trying to join my FC6 box to our Active Directory domain. For the most part the setup was pretty straightforward, but it just doesn't seem like winbind separator is being honored. When I do a 'getent passwd' I get the following: AVWORLD\johnXXXX:*:16782801:16777216:XXXXXXXX:/home/AVWORLD/johnXXXX:/bin/bash

Classicupgrade failure
Hello. I've still got a couple of NT domains and I'd like to upgrade them to AD. In these days I had a chance to try to migrate one of them, but I ran into troubles and had to go back. I don't know when I'll have the chance to try again (probably not before some months), but I need to understand what went wrong before that. The starting situation: Samba 4.8 running as AD

Are these events normal?
We have dropped dovecot in place of UW-IMAP for about 40000 users and have solved our immediate problem: disk I/O overload, mainly from people doing POP3 and "leave mail on server". Thank you! Now i got loads of dovecot error messages in the logs and don't know if there is any significance. Here are a few examples: The most common event is: 2007-12-06 16:00:17.837654500 dovecot:
