Degeneration of CPU Performance
Hello everybody!
We have a interesting issue about dovecot behavior here. First, the
scenario:
We have 2 server running with the same load, one with our old pop3
solution (out of date) and other with Dovecot. We realized that dovecot
are comsuming more CPU, and this consumption is growing day by day. When
we starts dovecot, it runs between 40%-45% of CPU consumption and our

does somebody use XCode on Mac for RoR instead of TextMate?
does somebody use XCode on Mac for RoR instead of TextMate? I wonder
how is it compared to TextMate... TextMate uses the default font of
Monaco... the Xcode screenshot on Wikipedia uses Courier... I wonder if
Xcode looks as good as TextMate when the font is changed to Monaco as
well? Thank you.

Goodbye Windows?
Hi.
I know that Linux provides most of the softwares we need for business, equivalent of Outlook, MS Office, IE, ... but :
Is it realistic to think that we can delete Win XP, and use Wine with Linux, for a professional use, with :
- All Adobe, with the ICC profiles (I use Monaco EZcolor for the calibration).
- CMS like Joomla and a lot of plugs-in, and a few tools for webranking.
I hope the

Multiple ISP + traffic shapping = poor download speed
Hello,
Thanks for the great Shorewall which has replaced my hard to maintain home-made scripts.
First, what works.
Our local network is 10.48.X.X with multiple vlan, each on a dedicated interface. We use Shorewall 4.4.11 from Debian Squeeze.
We have a 2 ISP:
- isp1 : an optical fiber provider with 10 Mbps.
- isp2 : a DSL provider with 15Mbits/1Mbits.
We use isp2 as the default outgoing

Using Helpers inside a Controller
I want to use helpers inside a controller method for an AJAX
application. After the page is loaded and displayed, there will be an
asynchronous javascript request to load additional resources such as
html forms and other data.
The controller which handles the request will collect the resources and
send them back in json format.

--chmod for destination only
Is it possible to set the permissions on the destination side? As I
understand it, --chmod just pretends certain permissions are coming from
the sending side. I'd like to be able to set permissions to readonly in
the destination while coming from a --copy/link-dest which may more may
not have had it's permissions changed.

--link-dest behavior
Greetings All,
I've been thinking about the current behavior of the --link-dest=DIR
option. In the absence of --delete, ALL members of DIR should be linked
to the destination (aside from those that are changed). If not, there
should at least be a --no-link-dest-delete option. (This latter option
might be better to avoid disrupting the behavior of current rsync commands)
My rational: This

How to delete files older than X on backup during sync?
Hi list,
I have been reading MAN pages and listarchives, but not found the
answer to my question though I am sure it must be possible to acheive
my wish.
I wish to use rsync to create a backup BUT only keep the files for a
limited period of time, EG two weeks.
I have not yet been able to figure out how to do this inside rsync
(while the backup is being performed) and my understanding of the

About cluster size (read/write)
Hello list,
I need understand more about cluster-size. Cluster size are small space
when i create some file in ocfs2 disk, but when i read some data this
size are small part that i can read? Or smal part are block-size to
read? cluster-size are only to optimize fragmentation?
I create my ocfs2 mounts with block-size 4k and cluster-size 1M and i

Country numbering plan resources
Is there any good free / accurate online resources with detailed country
numbering plans? Failing that let's get something running ourselves.
I was also thinking maybe people present could contribute some information on
this list for now. The countries I am after are below.
To start this off I will provide the information for Australia +61 and New
Zealand +64.

zpool split problem?
Zpool split is a wonderful feature and it seems to work well,
and the choice of which disk got which name was perfect!
But there seems to be an odd anomaly (at least with b132) .
Started with c0t1d0s0 running b132 (root pool is called rpool)
Attached c0t0d0s0 and waited for it to resilver
Rebooted from c0t0d0s0
zpool split rpool spool
Rebooted from c0t0d0s0, both rpool and spool were mounted

ZFS space map causing slow performance
Hello,
I have several ~12TB storage servers using Solaris with ZFS. Two of them have recently developed performance issues where the majority of time in an spa_sync() will be spent in the space_map_*() functions. During this time, "zpool iostat" will show 0 writes to disk, while it does hundreds or thousands of small (~3KB) reads each second, presumably reading space map data from

Problem after upgrade to 1.4.7-1 (Bad magic number in superblock while opening context for device)
Hello Guys,
After upgrade to 1.4.7-1 my FS does not mount anymore. Just after
upgrade rpm, FS mount and works fine, but after reboot server, it does
not work anymore.
FS are created with ocfs2-1.4.4 and ocfs2-tools-1.4.3-1. If I downgrade
to old version doesn't work too.
Messages when trying to mount with new version:
# mount /d01
