Webmail app ... again.
There was a thread several weeks (or months) ago on webmail applications. I didn't like any of the options and only found few that I did but they were either expensive or not maintained. So ... I raised the question on the Catalyst Framework list about Perl based webmail apps and got nothing usable. It came down to what would it take to build a Perl (Cat) webmail app. Several others on

Order of operations in Dovecot
Hi, I'm working on an IMAP client and had a question about the order in which commands are responded to in Dovecot. In other IMAP servers I've looked at, when you issue two commands simultaneously (i.e. pipelining) it looks something like this: a fetch something b fetch something else * 1 FETCH (result) a OK FETCH completed * 1 FETCH (result) b OK FETCH completed This works well because

login_trusted_networks from webmail ?
I'd like to get the IP-address of the webmail-klient logged in my maillog (for being compliant with coming data retention policies). I've noticed that with login_trusted_networks pointing at my dovecot directors, we get rip=client-ip logged on the backends. How is the proxy providing this to the dovecot backends? Anybody know what magic we need to implement in our webmail-solution to be

[Semi-OT] Advice on large webmail setup
Hi all, As the resident Linux guru, I've just been tasked with costing a webmail setup for about 600 000 users. They each have 10MiB (small, I know) mailboxes. The current setup has about 40 million web page accesses per month. Has anyone here any experience with this kind of thing? If so, any pointers as to software and hardware used, and any other advice would be appreciated. TIA --

Webmail project : to cache or not to cache emails
Hi, I plan to develop a new web service where one of its module is a webmail and I am thinking about some implementation details. From a interface point of view I wanted to adopt the same logic a outlook(desktop) or yahoo webmail and not split emails into pages. I mean I just want a single datatable view where user can scroll to see his old messages and data are updated only when user release

Dovecot strong or not for a big Webmail architecture
Hello, Do you think Dovecot could handle millions of active users in a big architecture ? This cluster could be for example (each server is a bi quad Xeon 2.66 Ghz) : - 40 Dovecot servers - 4 LVS - 20 Apache+PHP - 2 Openldap - 20 Postfix + ClamAV + SpamAssassin - 1 NFS Netapps For millions of user it could be multiple different clusters of 40 Dovecot servers with 1 Netapp for each cluster.
