Open source gallery suggestion
Hello,
I''m a RoR newbie. I need to develop a gallery site for a friend of mine.
Can you suggest me an open source gallery I can start from?
I just need to manage photos, albums and an admin user in order to
modify albums.
Thanks

Image Gallery with custom thumbs...?
Hello all,
I''m fairly new to RoR, have done many different tutorials, but am now
trying to build something on my own. I would like to create a
portfolio gallery. I plan on using customized thumbs, not scaled, but
custom cropped and resized in Photoshop. The reason for this is these
will not be photos but portfolio pieces and I would like the thumbs to
focus on a vital part of the piece.

Web photo gallery options
Hi all,
I'm looking for a web photo gallery for my personal web server at home. Till
now I've done the galleries manually from Adobe Photoshop Elements, but I
feel that is a dead end, kinda', besides the fact that the galleries created
are rather static. I'd like an easier way to do this, eg uploading images in
folders directly to the gallery and it will take care of what needs to

Ruby Interface Recommendations Photo Gallery Creation?
Hi, I''m looking to create a gallery index page of thumbnail images which
point to their associated images galleries. Also, I would like to organize
the images from left to right and top to bottom. Furthermore, I would like
to limit the number of thumbnail images on the page. I guess that I''m
needing some type of horizontal looping interface for both the thumbnail
index page

RMagick Resizing Issue
Hello ~
I have RMagick and file_column working in RoR. In my model I am setting up
some standard sizes for the submitted photos. The photo files are created
and named correctly, but the sizes are wrong. Only the second argument of
my geometry call is used, with the width dimension being resized
proportionately.
file_column :image, :magick => { :versions => { "medium" =>

File_column, RMagick, and watermarking
I''m working on a photo gallery and I''m using File_column to handle the
uploads of the files and create my thumbnails, but does anyone here have
any idea how to have a watermark (opaque text maybe) placed over one of
the versions? Any ideas on how to go about this would be great. Even if
it''s just straight RMagick code, that would be fine too.
Thanks in advance for the

file_column repository broken?
I really want to try out file_column but the repository seems to be down
for me. I added it to my repository list and script/plugin is unable to
see anything in it.
I downloaded an archive from the website but it is not clear to me which
files need to be installed to which subdirs of my RoR project.
Anyone else having this issue with the repository? I am able to see

File Upload Problems
following the instructions at
http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/HowtoUploadFiles, I am able
to upload to an explicit and existing directory (i.e.
c:\ror\app\public\images\photo.jpg). However, when I try to upload to
a folder that does not exist, say,
c:\ror\app\public\image\newfolder\photo.jpg, I get the following error:

partials and instance variables for file_column
Hi,
Sebastian Kanthak of the file_column-Plugin wrote once:
"is the photo object inside a local variable or an instance variable
(e.g. photo or @photo)? url_for_file_column only works with instance
variables, like all other active record form helpers. Could this be
the problem?"
So I''m using file_column in a partial, e.g.
<%= render (:partial => "product",

Hi,
i''m new of both webgen and ruby, so maybe this can be a dumb question, but
i can''t recognize any solution by myself.
I use webgen 0.4.1 (the newest webgen .deb package).
I''m trying to make a test gallery, without succeeding in it.
i done (ehm, copied) the yeah.gallery file in the root directory:

Creating a new gallery layout
Hi,
I''m trying to create a new gallery layout. I did the following:
o create plugin/foobar.rb in my base directory.
o copy plugins/gallerylayouters/default.rb in foobar.rb and make
appropriate modifications. For
simplicity, lets say my class looks thus:
require ''webgen/plugins/gallerylayouters/default''
module GalleryLayouters
class Foobar <

Seek Rails Design Pattern for Photo Manipulation Service
Hello,
I''ve built a powerful image manipulation engine in C++ that I want to
deploy as a Web-based service for all to use. The idea is straight
forward: Visit my site, submit a photo, select a visual treatment, press
go, and receive the resultant photo via email.
See samples here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/theimageengine
While the engine is rock solid, I am struggling a bit

Any CMS for Ruby on Rails..
Well i want to make a photography community site on the lines of
www.gfxartist.com , www.terminus1525.ca, www.phirebrush.com
Where the community votes for every subbmission from a artist and can
comment (like a forum)..
Now gfxartist has used probably SMARTY,php, and their own CMS.
terminus used Drupal,Gallery 2.Some one tells me that this combo is
heavy on resources and slows down sites.

Getting Started with Site Redesign and RoR
Hello all:
I am in the process of redesigning my site and was thinking about
incorporating RoR into the overall structure. However, there are
multiple things I would like to create with Rails, namely a gallery, a
weblog, and portfolio management system. Given that I am going to be
using a lot of RoR, what is the best way to accomplish this task? Here
are some random things that have come

Absolute path to public/images in rake task?
Hi all
I''m trying to create a rake task for the first time, so please be a bit
patient with me. ;-)
I''m coding a photo gallery. Every photo gallery''s photos are in its own
folder, and after an update I''d like to be able to synchronize the photo
files with the database (because every photo has its own Photo class
object). I''ve got so far:

I get...

Rotating Images with file_column
Hi everyone,
I have a photo site that I''m making and I''m using file_column to
handle the auto-generation of several "version" of each photo:
essentially thumbs and fuller-sized version. The full sized versions
retain the original''s proportions, whereas the thumbs are all 4:3.
This means most of the thumbs are cropping the original. This all
works great, but I
