Dovecot performance on GFS clustered filesystem
Hello All,
We are using Dovecot 1.1.3 to serve IMAP on a pair of clustered Postfix
servers which share a fiber array via the GFS clustered filesystem.
This all works very well for the most part, with the exception that
certain operations are so inefficient on GFS that they generate
significant I/O load and hurt performance. We are using the Maildir
format on disk. We're also using

Corrupted transaction log file, dotlocks..?
I'm new to Dovecot but I've been able to get it up and running on a test
basis without too much difficulty. I'm running dovecot-stable-20050508
with maildir, under Linux (an old Gentoo setup that's been stable for
about 2,5 years). Mail client is Thunderbird.
However, in the course of experimentally copying the accumulated
household email (95000 emails from the last 10 years)

getaddrinfo() problem with AIX 4.3.3 and rsync 2.5.2?
I had to apply the following patch to the clientname.c check_name() function
before I could successfully use "hosts allow" in rsyncd.conf. Without the
patch I kept getting "rsync: forward name lookup for ... failed: Host not
found"
errors. These errors were produced by the rsync daemon, and putting in a
debugging statement revealed that the port_buf being used had a large

[PATCH] vdpa: consume device_features parameter
Hi David,
Why this patch doesn't get picked in the last 4 months? Maybe the
subject is not clear, but this is an iproute2 patch. Would it be
possible to merge at your earliest convenience?
PS, adding my R-b to the patch.
Thanks,
-Siwei

/dev/random is on your Solaris CD
There was some discussion recently about the Solaris /dev/random
support that can be downloaded from Sun's patch archive as part of
a patch to the Sun Web Server 1.0 product. The SUNWski package
is the interesting bit that purports to provide /dev/random.
It was noted that domestic and international versions of the patch
existed and that only the international (no encryption) version

Agent forwarding with DSA keys?
Does agent forwarding work with DSA keys?
I'm using 2.2.0p1 on RedHat Linux 6.2 (Alpha) and Solaris 2.6 (SPARC).
If I ssh-add my RSA key into the local agent and ssh to another
machine, the agent connection is forwarded properly. (I can say
"ssh-add -l" and see my keys.) If I ssh-add my DSA key into the
local agent and "ssh -2" to another machine, the agent connection

Samba 2.2.7a - adduser script only worked the first time
I have WinXP machines loging into a samba domain. I am using this add user script:
add user script = useradd -d /dev/null -g 300 -s /bin/false -M %u
This worked beautifully with the first WinXP machine I set up. I immediately
booted up a second machine and got the "Access Denied" error. I have tried two
more computers since and keep getting the same thing but the first machine still

[PATCH][VTD] pci mmcfg patch for x86-64 - version 2
Fixes made in version 2:
1) Use PML4[257] for ioremap of PCI mmcfg. As full 16-bit segment support would require 44-bits. Since each slot only has 39-bits, we support 2048 PCI segments for now. This can be easily expanded if deemed necessary in the future.
2) Integrated PCI mmcfg access with existing PCI config interface for x86_64. Use MMCFG interface if offset is greater than 256.
